My experience from Cambridge is that I got the 7 Plus easier from Covent Garden than from the local Apple Store... I suspect London stores get much more phones so if you go early you have a better chance to get one...damn I wish I was in a smaller city than London, I mean surely I can maybe go to Bath and get it from the Apple Store there? lol
Yes this is exactly my position as well, tempted to call my local Apple store to find out what the norm is etc!If I get a crap delivery date on preorder ill go to my local apple store on release day, live in Norwich so should be ok if I get there early enough..... only problem is my local store is in a shopping center so not sure how early I can get there and beat crowds if there is multiple entrances lol
They can be unlocked though for a nominal fee? (not sure if there's a time limit)Hmm. Although not an issue for me particularly, it would mean I stick with VF for my own use. Main issue would be selling on if I switch to an X2 next year. Worth bearing in mind, thanks. But my impatience may get the better of me..
Spoke with my Business account manager in 3, he told me they will be getting stock for Launch day, he said they should be getting a decent amount of stock, good thing is, pre orders are at 9 so if you fail on apple.co.uk your next stop could be 3.
I personally already have myself 1 Silver 64GB reserved, Ill be trying to get another for family on friday.
Good Luck everyone.
Eek, apologies!

good point, you'd think a sapphire glass back would be able to cope with it but maybe not. It does have a rubber area but it's not big I admit. Need to look for something similar
Yes you can
I have to disagree. When supplies are tight Apple says the exact opposite of what they have this tile: “there won’t be walk-in stock available...” - they said this last year for the 7. That they are promising walk-in stock before pre-orders even start is a highly promising sign.Guys come on be serious...
Now Apple have said there will be stock in stores - they are encouraging queues - this is clearly because online orders will be delayed. And they want to have publicity and have people think they can get the phone in store.
The problem is now you will see the return of scalpers - people queuing up days in advance to sell it on at a profit.
You will have to turn up the day before to stand a chance of picking up a phone on the day; even then I think unless your the first 10 in line you might miss out. I really think stock will be beyond limited. We have never had an iPhone with so LITTLE stock on launch.
I will pre-order - and expect a delay. I might try ordering from a network as well - just to see if I can get one a second way - but I think 99% of people on this site will be disappointed.
I expect after launch day we will return to online reservations with limited stock everyday - so at least those of us who know how to work the online system have a chance.
Was there walk in stock for the 7, I can’t remember. I was working in London on the day of the launch, walked past the Covent Garden store - recall queues ?I have to disagree. Anyway, we will see in a few days.
Nah if there’s a good amount of stock in stores that means online orders will be fine to getGuys come on be serious...

Let's be clear: in Apple speak "walk-in stock" means stock that is available on a first come, first served basis for people who turn up on the day, without a reservation. Was there walk in stock for the 7, I can’t remember.
