Personlly i’d say delivery. Also saves the hassle of having to stick to a time slot
Anywhere other than London delivery would be a no brainer but London probably has the highest density of Apple stores in the world (?) some of which might have more stock than your average store (Regent st., Covent Garden) set aside for early reservations?

A look ahead to this thread on Friday morning...

Do you reckon it’s safer to opt for delivery or to reserve and pick up in store (Regent St.)?

In terms of flow in the app does it make much difference? I just tried with IPhone 8 and you get all the way to payment without choosing pickup or delivery

After you press ‘buy with Apple pay’ you choose pick up then you’d have to select a time slot - maybe +10 seconds?

Hey guys, anyone have any information on how pre ordering works with the iPhone payments option (0% finance without AppleCare). I am ready to preorder at 8 on Friday but is it an option to preorder and arrange to go to a store the following week to then set up the finance agreement? Can't seem to be able to replicate it with the 8 now in tests

I think you will need to use the website not the app to arrange financing. Not 100% sure if financing is available on pre order though

While we are on the subject - does Apple Pay require your password if the device has been reboot - I think App Store/iTunes does for example?

Anyway to avoid running into that? I was thinking buying a song or app but that might not transfer over to Apple Pay.

wheres the button for enabling Touch ID
Account > Settings > TouchID

Pretty sure Apple Pay enables once you enter your passcode after restarting your iPhone

There’s no option to pre order for IP online. The way you would need to do it is by taking the IUP pre order route and when you go to your in store appointment, telling them you want to do IP rather than IUP

Not quite right. IUP and IP (iPhone payments) can only be done in store. If you use the web site (not app) finance route that is not 0% but 15-18% APR with PayPal finance.

If you want the 0% via IP or IUP then you have to do that in store. So for pre orders, use the IUP route to try and reserve for in store and then at your appointment tell them you want to take IP rather than IUP

I have heard that you can reserve on iUP, and then pay the full amount when you arrive at store. But I asked Apple and they said it's up to the store.

Can anyone from London confirm that they've successfully paid full amount for an iPhone reserved via iUP, in store?

I did it last year at Regent Street, literally on the day it re-opened (they had a load of Jet Black Plus stock for that day! :p )

Nice, I may look into reserving one via iUP and then buying it outright, but I don't want to spend £10 on a 1.5 hour coach ride to London + £2-3 on Tube to visit the Apple Store in London (as there is no Apple Store in Oxford), only to be told I can't buy it outright and have to get it on iUP, so I am looking for confirmation. If you say Regent Street did that for you, then I'll try getting one from there.
