Anyone in the same boat as me? Pre-ordered to pick up on Nov. 3 at Regent Street. I used Apple Pay on checkout, and my order has switched to 'order in progress'. I still haven't received any notifications from the bank/Apple that Apple Pay has failed. Any ideas?

I’m the exact same as you. Have you got anything since?

The thing is, it doesn't say if the phone locks to the first SIM or not. I already know the phone comes unlocked, however whether it locks to the first SIM (no matter which UK carrier) or not is not mentioned anywhere, and some people say it doesn't, and some people say it does.

I'd like to hear from someone who has actually bought an iPhone this year and have successfully used it with overseas SIM. Or maybe someone can point to a page on CPW website where it specifically says it doesn't lock to the first SIM.
I can confirm that as of July, CPW stock no longer locks to the first sim. As for the overseas sim question, I can’t confirm as I’ve not had anyone try it.

Source: I work there.

Is that true regarding the partial refund? How does that work?
Basically, you’re not obligated to keep AppleCare+ as it’s an insurance policy. Whatever you haven’t used, gets deducted from your total owed balance (if you were to buy it outright for £199 then change your mind, they’d pro rata refund you.)

Apple is able to remove your ability to upgrade yearly if you don’t meet certain conditions however, which in this case means on iup AND having AppleCare+.

Just in a side note I wouldn’t bother ordering an iPhone case from Apple that is due in several weeks. (Although you can cancel so no harm).

They will definitely have stock of cases on launch day - they always do. And I’d expect the folio case too in Apple stores.

I’ve ordered a few cases from amazon and some screen protectors (just in case) and I plan on picking up an Apple case next Friday in store.
Mine arrives on the 1st? Ordered at 0837

Some cases were showing delivery after launch day of the X - the folio cases in particular were showing a few weeks.

If you placed an order and it’s coming before then fair enough.

I looked at the shipping dates and decided to get some cheap cases of Ebay and pick up a proper apple case in store on Friday.

Always prefer to buy outright where possible

Me as well, I agree normally, I've got the money but just think it's a good deal.

0% interest, upgrade so guaranteed trade in value without the hassle of selling and condition (not sure of exact allowed condition), AC+ so don't have to be as careful suppose. Only £25 for a screen repair

I'd normally say buy outright but just wondering if this is better now there kinks hopefully ironed out now been going a while

So I considered buying the X on contract. I didn’t want a new contract but I was looking at an early upgrade on 3.

But at the unbelievably high tariffs they are charging it was £250 to upgrade early (5 months left) and £250 up front and then £85pm.

Clearly £500 up front isn’t as much as £999 - but I have an iPhone 8 Plus that I can trade in online for at least £550 (and could sell on eBay for more.

The maths therefore said to me that I would rather buy the phone outright and sell on my 8+ and the X will “only” cost me the difference of around £400.

Mhmm, what time did you check?

Then again, I went for the gorgeous red product silicone, which I admit ... is silicone

Anyone with an in store pickup and pay via Apple Pay not yet had the money taken?

HSBC have confirmed no transactions or authorisations from Apple yet.

I've heard there's been lots of problems with Apple Pay being declined, so I'm concerned now....

The transaction doesn't appear in the Wallet app either.

This happened to me. I had a delivery date of 11/3 I didn't want to lose, so I got Apple Support to call me and changed my payment method to my actual card details rather than the Apple Pay equivalent. It all went through fine and I kept my delivery date.

Thanks! Usually get the :apple: silicone case, but the Torras one looks almost identical but nearly a third of the price.
Just ordered this, looks good quality and has a cut out that makes the bottom of the screen accessible for swiping up! arriving Nov 1st, two days before my X, can't wait!

So when is everyone trading in their phones? I would love to get the process underway now but with 13-20 delivery date, It's a little far off at the moment!
Selling mine with Music Magpie, courier pick up, got £395 for my 128 7 Plus, happy with that.

Nope. It may happen sometime next week.
It had better happen next week! ;)

Mind shows £0.00 in Wallet but also says "pending"

I have two transactions pending with Apple Store on the relevant card in my wallet. One at 8:04 (which is the time I completed checkout - 3/11 delivery) and another at 8:18, both show £0.00 and both say "pending". Who knows...
My delivery status is Preparing For Despatch, but that's for home delivery not Pick Up.

Do the stores usually have any stock of the cases before the launch day? Was hoping to pop in one day next week before delivery on Friday?
You can check stock via the website. Just find a case you want and check your local store if pickup is available for same day.
