Yeah I've pre-ordered the note 8 because I was expecting atrocious pricing and I was right.
No way i'm paying £1149 and Applecare £200 £1349 is bloody nuts Galaxy s8 cost me only £689 with 10 percent cashback on Quidco in July. £600

I'm afraid, as I posted yesterday, I saw this coming.

Apple have form for taking the piss but we let them get away with it.

Breaking the £1,000 barrier for a mobile phone really does take your breath away. Shafted!
I thought the Note 8 was taking the piss at £869 this is a whole new level.

Hopefully by release they will have a shed loads of these available... I would be extremely disappointed if they don't sort our production issues

£1149. So 24 month contract, it's £47 per month without carrier charges. Guess if you were paying monthly you'd have to pay £200 - £300 upfront to lower the spread cost. Regardless, it's a lot of money - especially for something that is annoying me. That bezel. Need to see some impression videos tbh. I need to be sold on this. Shame Apple couldn't actually do that in the keynote.

Looks like I might be holding onto my 6s+ for a little longer. I've always upgraded every 2 years. This might be a first.

edited: I keep forgetting I've got 6s+

Note 8 is $949. Not sure what you're complaining about.
Because for us in the U.K. There is only one price £969 for 64GB of storage and you can expand the memory with an SD card. I can get a 200 GB micro SD card for £60 bringing the total cost to £1030. For the iPhone x I'd need to pay £1149 for 256GB of storage. So it's £120 more.

Also leaving aside which OS you prefer the note 8 does more, has a larger, higher resolution display, still has a fingerprint scanner. You even get a free accessory if you pre-order it in the UK which allows you to turn your phone into a desktop computer. Albeit a low powered one.

I have to say I'm left feeling utterly deflated after that.

Sure the X looks nice, but I'm really not sold on the face recognition idea at all. For me, Touch ID has always worked great, and face recognition almost feels like a step backwards.

I've got a 7 at the moment, so in that respect, the 8/8+ don't even seem to hold that much appeal as an upgrade.

I may change my mind, but particularly given the horrendous pricing, I can see my wallet staying in my pocket this year.

Yeah the sad realisation that I am still going to buy it PURELY because the fact that this phone is what I've been waiting for since the 6 came out :/ OLED and the giant front screen...

That bloody inbetween size i've been waiting for

Pixel 2 anyone? lol

Yes. I'm pleased on a number of counts. I don't have to make a decision before Google announces the Pixel 2, and the iPhone 8 has even bigger bezels than the Pixel 2 - so it makes me feel better getting a new phone in 2017 with bezels if the current iPhone 8 models also have bezels. At least with the Pixel 2 you'll have stereo front-facing speakers rather than empty bezels.

Would anyone like to guess at some o2 pricing for the X 64GB model.

I'm going with at least £45 a month with a couple hundred down for a few GB of data.

Going to pre-order, iPhone X, silver, 256GB. A little disappointed the pre-order date is 27th October but at least it's better than pre-ordering and having to wait months for it to even ship.

Do iUP customers just reserve via regular order page or is there a proprietary screen for iUP like last year?
