Yep I think so! They must have stock now. When did the email come through?

Edit: actually not sure could you post a screenshot of the email?

The confirmation email came through this morning although my original email was around 10:00 on Friday.

They took the money from my account on Friday (that’s the date of the transaction anyway) and I’ve only had 2 emails

I'm in the same boat, just hoping for Friday delivery.

Are you having store collection.

Yeah pick up in store, 256gb Space grey

Should have just stuck to CPW over Vodafone..regretting now..in any case I still have my Apple store order, which was intended for a friend..Might end up losing a friend on Friday.

Has anyone else issues with using Apple Pay after the declined transactions for iPhone order?

I updated through the phone the payment details, so order is fine, but all transactions from Apple Pay (iPhone and watch) are getting declined. Card is working fine though.

Hey folks,

Looking forward to receiving my iPhone X on Friday after being lucky enough to get a launch day delivery. Ordered through the app (using Apple Pay) though it did takes longer than usual to get in. Working at home Friday for delivery!

Just been thinking about which of my apps I hope get an early update for the X screen. The HSBC banking app is one. Their Twitter is saying you won’t be able to use face ID to log on and will need to revert to password.

It unsurprising but kinda hoping that this is wrong and the “it will already just work” line from Apple regarding how it will replace Touch ID as the local auth method applies.

Chances given it’s a banking app?

As I understand it they’d have to completely remove Touch ID to also remove Face ID, but I’m no expert.

If he is a real friend and knows the circumstances he will decline it and wait !

My understanding, based on comments on these forums from people who seem to know what they are talking about, is that the apps just ask the phone for verification without specifying what method to use, so FaceID should just work if TouchID currently does.

I have heard suggestion that app designers can, or will be able to, specifically turn off a method. So they can, for example state that they don't want FaceID to work. However, the way that has been explained suggests it is a specific action they have to take and if so, I have no idea whether they have been able to pre-update the apps to do this.

I think it's a case of wait and see. It is of course possible (even likely) that the HSBC twitter people have incorrect info.

Correct, they use the same API code.

From a banking perspective, the fact that it can’t tell a twin apart is scary. Data protection rules are quite stringent.

We are now entering the fun phase of this thread as people start to worry about orders still saying "preparing to dispatch". The pressure will slowly mount through today and tomorrow until, sometime tomorrow afternoon someone will report having spoken to Apple and being told that no deliveries will be made on Friday, and we will all have to wait until Monday for them.

Mass hysteria will then follow for an hour or so, until people start getting notifications and tracking details and everyone will calm down again. Except for two people whose tracking info does say Monday. One will be from the Scottish Highlands and the other will be somewhere random, like Hemel Hempstead, and seems to have been selected totally at random so we have someone to direct group sympathy towards.

That's how it always used to work anyway. This is my first release day order for a few years, so I haven't followed this thread for the last couple of releases. Does that still happen each year?

:)

Yepp, banks should really disable FaceID. There’s it the option to disable FaceID but leave TouchID enabled.

Let us know how you get on with this screen protector, I almost went for that one. Opted for this one instead

I went for this one - ordered on 24th October, arrived yesterday.. First impressions are ok, but I'm not sure about the glass covering the FaceID area. Will have to see whether it affects things. But it has a rear protector so if I choose to go without a case, the rear protector may help protect against scratches etc.

Still on Preparing to Ship here.

Yeah, this is actually really annoying. The status changed to this pretty quickly after placing the order for seemingly no reason at all. And because it's in this state no amendments can be made to the order. I really would have liked to have been able to change the delivery address. I've made arrangements, it's just a bit of a pain. Oh well.
