Around 50% in my opinion, so around £575 for the 256GB version. Just £1.57p a day depreciation if you want to look at it that way. Or £11 per week.

However, if they restore Touch ID on the 2018 model and get rid of that awful notch then I think this year's model will be viewed as a bit of a dinosaur and fetch even less on the second-hand market.
Do people really think touch id will make a return on the 2018 flagship iPhone?

Has apple ever taken away a phone feature and brought it back? They seemed to be toting face id as the next big thing in iphone security on the keynote.

Does anybody know if the 20 months interest free credit in store is still available on the iphone 7+ or has to be on the new models?

Just tried calling Apple - first person denied point blank that there was any such scheme apart from upgrade programme until I emailed them a link.....

Then tried to call to get put through to local store so could ask but just went through to call centre so will call into a store later but just wondering if anybody else knew?

Touch ID is finished and other than maybe an updated SE device don't think we will see used again. The fact that Apple stated that FaceID is 20x as secure is evidence enough.

I imagine that next year we will see the X get a reduction to a similar price to the 8+ now. There will then be 2 new devices - an XS and and XS+, both with a similar design to X (the XS+ having a larger 6.5 inch screen). Finally the 8/8+ will then also see a price reduction.

Additionally I would expect to see a new SE device.

I get what you're saying but it then begs the question - why does the app then have a 'JOIN' button:

....and then when you click on it, it takes you the 'SELECT' page:

...that's exactly my point - I do think you can join via the app you will indeed have to go to the store to collect. Why else would there be a 'Join' button?!

They clearly wanted to retain Touch ID on the iPhone X but that entailed embedding it in the OLED screen which eventually they failed to achieve in the time available. My own view is that they will find a way soon and it will make a re-appearance next year, probably alongside Face ID.

Reserved an iPhone online at my local store, walked in and told them about my reservation. They then did a quick credit check, took the deposit and handed over my iPhone. Was very quick and easy! Hope that answers your question!
Helpful - thanks!

But when was this in relation to the launch date? I assume your appointment wasn't exactly launch day?

Programme available for iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8. Requires a 20-month instalment agreement

Even the upgrade plan prices are horrible.

You could go through Very if you want to finance the 7+
They do a 12 Month Buy now pay later 0% option on financing.

Though dependant if they give you enough credit - For example If they gave you a credit limit of £500 you may have to put £300 upfront to make the differnece

But If you're not alrteady a customer you could get 20% off! - Although this discount can be hit and miss, as it states in the terms it cant be used on Apple products but many last year and previous years have succesfully got 20% off Apple products no options.

---

On another note wonder if people will be able to score 20% off the iPhone X at Very for first credit order, which would make the price a lot more attractive especially the 64gb. I'm personally out of luck as I opened a credit account to get 20% last year for my last phone :(

just looking on Very site now - they haven't adjusted their prices yet to reflect the new prices - the 20% off as new customer seems to be 10% off for electrical but doesn't appear to have anything restricting apple products - or is there another 20% off code?

Up to 20% off your
first credit order

enter LGAQP at the online
checkout by the 29/09/17

10% off electrical and 20%
off all the other departments

Over 18's only. Cannot be used on sale,
digital download products, in conjunction
with any other offers or on financial
services products and delivery charges

I’m leaning slightly towards the 8 I have to be honest. Before the keynote I’d said to myself if the X is getting on for a grand I’ll give it a miss. I do like the look of it though!

That being said I’ll be coming from a 2 1/2 year old 6 plus (want to downsize) so even the 8 will be a significant upgrade for me. We shall see!

For me it's just the design I was so spoilt by the S8 it made other phones instantly look dated and despite the new internals the 8 looks dated in fact very dated now.

My thoughts are that if I saved £200 and got the 8+ I would be forever thinking and that I should of got the X and the chances are very high I would keep the 8+ for far less time than the X.

Hard to tell since it is only available in Apple Stores but I would have thought at least still available until the 15th or the 22nd. Also it is called 'iPhone Payments'

If you are going down this route there may not be a huge difference between the 7 and 8 per month in which case if I were you I'd get the 8+. I am currently paying £43.50 per month for my 256gb 7 plus and the 256gb 8 plus is £44 per month................though I appreciate the 7+ will be less since they dont have the 256gb model available.

...that may be so, however, the app 100% shows a 'Join' button and 'Select' buttons which are not currently active.

This 'Join' button must obviously do something, come Friday morning.

I reckon, like someone else mentioned, it may opt you into the program but you will still have to go to a store to complete the order and collect.

This is further confirmation that the App supports the program

It puzzles me why you cannot do the credit check online for IUP and as long as you qualify then get it delivered to your home without ever visiting Apple, don't understand the need to go in to the store whatsoever.

Remember the iPad uses TouchID so don't think it's disappearing any time soon....

You need to provide photo ID

I do agree, and that’s what has me undecided, the X at least catches up to what other manufacturers have started doing with decreasing bezels and utilising more screen space and I do feel that the iPhone 8 design is starting to look a little dated despite a slight refresh. I’ve got some time to mull it over anyway. It’s a fight between the tight fisted Yorkshireness in me and the tech nerd in me

I was sold on the X before the keynote, but now, I can't bring myself to pay a grand for a phone.

I can afford to, but can't bring myself to it.

I'm sure it'll be incredible, but still, £1,000 on a phone.

My iMac and first car was less than that.

I'm going for the iPhone 8 64GB.
Then when Apple release some new iPhones next year, then I'll probably sell the 8 and buy the X.
I'm sure I'll be able to get hold of a mint second hand one then for about £600.

I'll be more than happy with the beautiful, all glass, iPhone 8 for 12 months.

But for what reason though? If you have passed the credit check and your name, address, dob are all validated then I would of thought thats enough security checks.

Maybe I am missing something obvious?

Let you reserve for pick up?

Agree completely - lots of people live nowhere near an Apple Store. The only options online incur 14.9% APR :-(

There is now a link in the iOS Apple Store app to join up but you obviously can't complete it until pre-orders go live. I suspect you will still need to collect in store with your ID and bank details.

Thanks. That could be an issue as due to current health problems I can't travel far and my nearest Apple Store is some way away.
