...does the IUP come with Apple Care too then? Are we not able to opt out of if (I've never damaged ANY iPhone I have owned - and I have owned them all since the iPhone 3G!!)
[doublepost=1505332285][/doublepost]

That's weird - why do they charge interest online but not in store? THATS why I ended up paying around 14% interest on my financed iPhone 7 last year then  - I never even realised!! :oops:o_O

Maybe the risk to the credit provider is lower with going instore to provide photo ID. Its odd though, as Apple used to do interest free credit online every year around Christmas. I bought my iMac that way and I think that was provided by Barclays too.

You can opt OUT of Apple Care :)

I’m going for an 8 (coming from a 6) and the monthly payments on th iUP is £31.50 WITHOUT Apple Care

The X is far too pricey for my liking and I don’t ‘need’ the larger screen
The IUP for the iPhone 8 starts at £37.95 - not sure where you're getting £31.50 from???

I don't know! But I did it last year. Reserved for pick upset a specific time I think. Need to check process as can't remember now even though I did it twice as I could only get white initially and then swapped for my preferred black and I had to do a whole new purchase and finance application rather than just exchanging the handset!

Can anyone advise me whether to go for the Plus model over the standard model - I'm really torn!!!

The plus model certainly has some better features (the dual camera setup particularly) so I think it depends on how often you will make use of these.

For me the plus model (6+) is a little too big and I still haven't got fully comfortable with using it. That's the main reason I'm downsizing but if I wouldn't find the size an issue I'd probably splash out on the plus for the extra features (though I don't take many photos either!).

Tried but someone else already has it (I did have this Friday off, so cancelled it). I'll go in 30 mins early and get ready at 7.55 with my iPhone & iPad to order.

Not booking preorder day but if I can get a reservation for the 3rd then def booking that off. I'll be too distracted playing with the X (and animoji) to do any work that day!

its not something you can advise on, its all personal preference.. go into the apple store and try out the plus size models..

I tried the plus size for the 6 and again for the 6s but returned both within the 14 days. for the 7 I was 100% sure I was going to stick with the 7+ and love it a year later. As said above, it is still not the easiest device to hold and to me still gets uncomfortable after prolonged periods. Also worth noting that the 8+ is heavier than the 7+.

I love the big screen and using a standard size or even the 5c is a shock.. can't ever image downsizing.

the X is the perfect form factor for me. It has the screen size i want and will be a lot more comfortable to handle. roll on November!

Apple stores are too far away for me, so have to order online. And delivery drivers don't hang around long at home, so prefer to be at work and have it delivered there. And watch the clock for the rest of the day.....

I like the bigger phone have done since the plus started.
Better battery life, nice big screen an dual camera. You get used to the large phone pretty quickly

I guess the Plus models are not 'one handed' devices then?! ....and how do you manage to fit the Plus models into your trouser pockets?! I actually find my 7, a little too big when sitting down and wearing denim jeans -it just about fits in my pocket!!!!!!

Just thought may open a 0% credit card and use that instead, much faster, much easier and quicker to buy the X

This is what I did too buy my note. Figured it's the easiest way for me without being tied down for two years (but I still can pay it off in 6 months or so if I want).

Also means I'm less tempted or pushed to upgrade after a year on an upgrade programme or 2 years on contract.

I am so used to the Plus size now I couldn't imagine swapping back to the smaller size.

Used the plus for a year (6s+) but moved down to a 7 when it came out. Loved the screen and found it way too big. The x is what I’ve been waiting for and it’s exciting that it’s almost here!

I use my 6S+ one handed, always have done. The ordinary models look like little kids toys to me.

You can't opt out, that's not the iPhone upgrade programme.

That's the iphone payments which is still 0% but you don't have to get Apple care and you do not get the option to
Upgrade every year

Its not exactly opting out of AppleCare it's a slightly different plan and you keep the phone rather than trade in. Go to

https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program

And then where it says "You can also choose to make low monthly payments without AppleCare+.Learn more about iPhone Payments" click there to see

Are very phones Apple unlocked (fully sim free), or carphone warehouse unlocked (locks to first sim inserted)?

Look back on lasts years thread. Am sure they locked to the first carrier. I think John Lewis purchased iPhones do the same but happy to be corrected if am wrong.

The couple of clips I’ve seen seem to show it work reasonably well. Worth waiting for some official reviews before making a decision? Only problem with that is Apple might not be dishing out review handsets before the launch for the 8.
Will there be official in depth reviews before official release or just the hands on types?
