Fair enough. If you’re in IUP then why not upgrade.

I’ve not paid much attention to the IUP, are the monthly prices the same for the 7+ and 8+? Do you have to pay the £69 initial payment again?

The 7 Plus 256 was £49 down-payment and 20 payments of £49.45. I don't know what the down-payment for the 8 Plus would be, but the monthly payments for the 8 Plus 256 are £51.45. This also includes AC+

Are you really going to benefit that much from the 8+ coming from the 7+? The processor improvements aren’t really going to make any real difference day to day. It’s not like the 7 is slow and underperforming.

I’m going from the 7+ to the X, if I wasn’t going to get the X, I’d skip the 8, same some cash and hang on for next year.

/twopence
My thoughts too - if not for the X, I certainly wouldn't be getting the 8 (though it is a very nice iPhone in its own right)

I go back and forth on the X hourly now, I have no idea what i'll do but I guess ill see what Pixel 2 brings on oct 4th.

I think even if i order the X i wont be in the UK on the 5th anyway so in no rush now but would like it once i'm back.

£1149 is just so ridiculous though but 64GB isn't enough

You do need to pay the deposit again, as it forms part of the overall purchase price.

Remember that, boiled down, iUP is is just 0% finance of the iPhone model you want plus AppleCare+ spread over 20 months, with a £69 initial spend, with the option to trade in the phone after 11 monthly payments are start a completely new agreement.

As the laughing emojis at the end of your post suggest, you do in fact know that she is Head of Retail at Apple.

The very same person who says that they don't call them stores any more; they are "Town Squares". Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous!
lol, Picking up my new iPad pro at my local Town Squares people will think I'm on some drugs.

Does anyone know if I buy an iPhone X in Hong Kong direct from Apple that it will work in UK?

I’m very tempted to get the X but I still have another year left on my contract with 3 and they don’t really offer any refresh programme (like O2) which is kind of annoying.

I'm still not sure whether to get a 8 or a 8+ or to use iUP or the Payments programme. You don't get much time to make a considered decision.

You have until you pick it up in store to decide on the payment. I swithered last year right up until I was purchasing the phone. Heck you could even order both phones and reject one on the day once you have seen them..........

So I'm still going to and fro. I'm on a 7 plus and on the Apple Upgrade Program. I like the look of the X, but it's not that earth-shattering. I suspect the next version will be. I can afford the X, but can't really justify in my head £200 uplift (bit like I can't justify buying an S3 watch with LTE when I don't want it). I suspect next years OLED flagship will be better, and will probably come in a Plus size. So I'm now thinking of the 8 Plus. Get an upgrade with the new processor etc etc, let everyone beta-test the new X, and upgrade again next year to the more refined X variant.
You know you'll end up getting the X :D

...off topic but just noticed you're from Croydon too!!

Back on topic - So which is gonna be the quickest way to pre-order tomorrow morning? The Apple Store app or via the website (I can see hundreds of people jamming the site but probably not the app)?!

...really??! So I can potentially try and reserve an 8 and an 8 Plus tomorrow morning and reject one, on the day of collection?!

Oh Dino.. it’s the same the other 50 times you asked

As per the first post, the app seems to come online quicker than the site. Keep both options open and hit that refresh button!

If reserving and collecting in store given you have paid no money for it, you are not committed to pick it up and buy it.

But it’s not really fair on people genuinely wanting the handset

From reading the forums everyone suggests the App so that means that will be ram packed now lol

Personally i only see the X, not in the least interested in the 8+. Clearly :apple: is veering off the old lane onto something innovative, hence i cant wait to be done with the odd 4 yr old design:rolleyes:. Glad i have the matte to mask the bezels in the interim

Last year I couldn't decide on the white/silver or white/gold 7 Plus. I reserved a silver for 12:30 and a gold for 12:45. Once I got in the store and saw them both I cancelled my gold.

There would have been some poor soul who couldn’t reserve that gold phone for that day

But yes that’s an option if you can get a reservation for the devices you want

Tomorrow my local Apple store will have pre-orders available. Will go to the store to buy mine.

I'm going for the 8 Plus 256GB Space Gray.

Hi All,

Does anyone know how long an apple store will hold a pickup item for? I won't be able to collect my phone on launch day (maybe not even till the next Friday as I am on holiday).

Thanks

Graham

These are the only 2 links I know of:

https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-8/4.7-inch-display-64gb-space-grey#00,12,20

....which seems to be if you want to buy the phone outright; and,

https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program

....which is the IUP link, which I'm hoping will have a live 'Join' button tomorrow morning, in order to reserve the phoe and opt for iPhone Payments when one goes to collect.

These are my backup links however, as at 8am tomorrow morning, I'll be commuting to work, so I'll really just be hammering the app to try my luck. If I don't manage to get one on the app and by the time I actually get to my desk in the office (around 8:30), it'll have to the links posted above....!!

I'm hoping the reserved phones will be able to be picked up after Friday 22nd - will be better for me to pick up on Sunday 24th, if I don't make it to Bromley on that Friday...!!
