Congrats man. When did you PFD?

I have one from 8.10 that PFD’d yesterday at 10am and still hasn’t changed and another from 8.11 that PFD’d at 5pm and not changed either

You're not the only one :)

Not going to complain as PFD means I should get a phone in the next few days which is a good position to be in.

I would like to be a fly on the wall to see how this process works though as its obviously different to the normal process of ordering something from Apple where stuff flies through the order process once there's stock assigned to your order.

I do Leeds, Manchester stores and Sheffield.

Sheffield and Leeds I can cope with. If I didn’t (hopefully) have one coming on Saturday, I might have been desperate enough to make the journey to Manchester. As it is, Apple are my fallback plan merely to save a few pounds per month (I’m not sure working myself in to this much of a frenzy is worth it haha <crying inside>)

Since launch day it appears to fly through the system. Once it changes to PFD delivery seems to be next day once payment has been taken. On launch it changed to PFD immediately on the 27th and sat like that till the 4th.

So existing iUP customers - you got in to a ‘queue’ of sorts by pre-ordering your upgrade? Can I ask how that works? I realise that it’s a crappy situation because many of you have December dates, but until now I had assumed that you all had to do what we’re doing, i.e. wait around until some stock happens to come available and then pounce on it. But you can actually slot in a pre-order?
no pre order as such, we have to do exactly what you are trying to do and pounce on one when we see it!! However, the benefit we have is that we can see more stock out there than those not already a member of the UP, and these phones available are on view 24/7 via the app or online.

I am picking my Silver 64GB up today from JL in Nottingham. I got lucky late on Tue night when I went to stockinformer.co.uk just before bed and it was showing as available to order online. It is a ridiculous situation when people who ordered on the 3rd have to wait 3-4 weeks to get their phone and I am getting mine 6 days after launch.

Which is the main reason I’m getting on IUP. As a serial updater I’ll be changing my phone next year and having some additional preference will only help.

All that and the fact I’m not having to pay the full £1350 (with Apple care) in one go. Also decided against a screen protector for now given it will go back to Apple in 12 months or so

Mines been sitting at my local dpd dept near dartford since 1am. Mr dpd driver needs to leave his cuppa now and get moving! I need to go take it straight into the Apple store get it in IUP

Is there a time limit to joining IUP when you receive a new phone?

Not that I’m aware but because you’re essentially refunding the online order and buying it on IUP you have 14 days to do so

Righto. Thanks.

Gotta make sure this phone is a keeper first. Coming from a 6+ I’m hoping the screen size will be ok for me (don’t see why it shouldn’t be) If not I’ll be returning it, getting an 8+ and waiting for a plus model next year.

So what’s all this talk of December delivery dates?

It’s definitely narrower and taller. You also don’t get all the landscape views that you get on the plus size.

Do you get landscape home screen? I was trying with the display models in the Apple store assuming it could be done but it didn't seem like it.
