Assuming you don't have a Plus currently? The other thing that's steering me to the Plus is that I like the aspect ratio of the screen. The X feels like going from the 4s to the 5
I've been preparing myself for the bigger phone. :D

Less of a risk if you get in IUP and know you’ll hand it back in a year.

I need to run some numbers, I usually buy the phones outright but if the difference on I’ve paid after 11 months of IUP leaves me better off or close to me buying it outright and selling the phone next year might make IUP less hassle

I'm in iUP so fingers crossed with reserving tomorrow!

Haha, I remember when I ordered the 6 Plus and also ordered a case from Amazon ahead of time. The case delivered and I was like WTF this is huge!!

Good luck!

Yeah I had the case for the 6+ and it felt freaking huge. I have the skinniest silicon case on 7+, anything else was adding way too much bulk. (It has ruined the back of my JB though)

Ha ha same with the case

Ok. Just ran the numbers

For me getting an X 256Gb it would have cost me £772.45 on IUP after the 11th payment (earliest I could upgrade)

Were I buy outright and then sell after a year; assuming I’d get a sale price which was 55% of the value (that the %age I currently get offered on my 7+), that would have ‘cost’ me £716 ( with me including Apple care +) without Apple care it would have been ~£516.

So in my head IUP makes sense if I

a) want apple care +
b) think I wouldn’t get at least 55% back on the X a year later

Clear benefits are not having to watch £1350 leave my account in one hit and having less hassle selling/sending back the phone. (I guess that where the iPhone payments plan comes in handy!)

The price difference between the 8Plus and the 64GB X is so close! If it were me I know that I'd regret not going for the X.

Wouldn't work for me and I am sure many others as the 64GB storage wouldn't be enough, so it's a £200 difference in that case.

Indeed. The iUP gives you your "worst case scenario" with the return of the phone to Apple. You can sell the device and then pay off the iUP whenever you want, but that's direct with Barclays.

I'm quite annoyed that to utilise fast charging, you need a different plug and cable (which will cost £75) think that's a joke

I'll be surprised if next year's iPhone brings back a button as a bezel less display seems the future with phones currently, and I'm doubtful we will see Touch ID again either, after saying how much more secure Face ID is, and then back track to Touch ID, will make them look silly

Also saw that people who have AirPods, the rumours show the wireless charging case costing £69!!!

That after shelling out £159 for the earphones themselves

Another n00b IUP question......

Apples site has a section about ‘trading up’ your old phone for credit towards a new one. I’m looking to get an 8 on launch day and join the IUP, my old 6 is worth approx £145 according to Apple.

Anyone know how this works with the upgrade program?

After declaring myself out of this upgrade cycle (first time since 2012) I think I might be back in for an 8 Plus. Actually coming from a 7 plus so spent the last couple of days trying to rationalise it. Could get by with 64gb rather than 128gb, can benefit from faster charging as I have the adapter already. Wireless charging with AirPower for all my devices, better camera features etc. Even pulled together a spreadsheet considering depreciation of 7 plus in a year offsetting the additional upfront charge required for 8 plus now and higher resell in time for an X-2 in 2018.

I think I might need COUNSELLING

Ahaha.. you’ve already subconsciously made the decision, the next 14 hours is there to justify it to yourself.

But I just couldn’t get the 8+ coming from 7+.

Good luck with your preorder tomorrow ;)

This is the thing.... the phone may look the same as the 7/7+, but there's so much more which is an upgrade.

I currently have a 7 32GB that I got on release day last September on the iPhone payments plan (i.e. no Apple Care). My payments should be complete in January as I traded in my old 6 and used the money to reduce the term down from the 20 months. I am torn between the 8+ and the X. Tempted to wait until January, but then will my 7 have depreciated much by then? Currently being quoted about £340 to £350 on various websites. Unfortunately I don't have an old phone I can use in the interim. Also, would give me a chance to try out both phones. However, still tempted to go for the upgrade 8+ when pre-orders open tomorrow!
Wait what?

How did you manage that?

I was under the impression you couldn't put money upfront to reduce the monthly cost?

I pay £32.50 for my 7 128GB, which is fine by me.

But If i could put money upfront and reduce the monthly it could tempt me.

Did you go in and say you wanted to reduce monthly cost and term?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it works like this:
You have to pay £69 upfront into the iUP, which would come out of your trade money, and the rest would be taken off the loan, which might mean, you could clear the loan in 18 months for example instead of 20, unless you plan on trading it in next year, in which case I'm unsure
