How many of you guys and girls are going to hold out for the X over the 8?

I think I am. As much as the cost makes me annoyed.

I want the dual cameras but Apple don’t do those on the standard 8. And the plus is too big/heavy for me (had a 6s+ for nearly a year before downsizing). But I liked the larger screen size of the plus.

So the X seems ideal (apart form cost)

Not sure whether to go IUP (insurance against this being an 'iPad 3' situation and wanting the XI next year as they iron out kinks), or the less expensive purchase plan - I reckon I could easily sell the X and cover the rest of the payments. Just need to check my home insurance covers accidental damage (pretty sure it does)

A lot of bank accounts give you extras like mobile insurance. Check you don’t already have it!

What would be crazy would be to buy an 8 just to tide me over until I can get an X. Right? That’d be crazy?

Rocking a 2015 moto g3 and really want to throw it back in the cupboard where it came from..

Pretty much so!

Unless you plan to keep buying and refunding inside 14 days until the X arrives

I have a htc an have been experiencing the same feeling for the past 6 months

My worry is if the X instantly sells out so it ends up being January or something before I can get one.

Honestly can see that actually happening. The rumours of the late production start, low yields on components and only outputting <10k units a day doesn’t bode well

Wont be anytime soon.

The authentication framework isn't going to write the functionality into the app, or make it worthwhile for the dev to build that functionality specifically for a phone that hardly anybody owns.

Businesses like banks, who are almost certainly maintaining an Android app aswell, may well be using a cross platform development solution like Xamarin if not there is still a good chance they aren't using Swift.

Most importantly there is no API for FaceID, so atm it is going to be for unlocking the phone and Apple Pay and thats it. Another disadvantage of losing touchID.

Did you read the bit where I said that the code works for both Touch ID and Face ID? That was the original way to get Touch ID integrated.

So, who has changed their mind since I was last here an hour ago?

@Dino F ? LMAO

Not me! Going to try and pre order an 8 in the morning if we're not on a job and going to stick it on my PayPal credit account as I think they still do 4 months interest free. I'd seriously considered the iPhone Upgrade Programme but my nearest Apple Store is 45 miles away and can't be dealing with having to do that each year!

Hi guys. Looking to order 4 phones tomorrow. 2 normal 8's and 2 8 pluses for the kids and the adults respectively. My question is, when ordering tomorrow morning does anyone remember if there was an option last year to pick up from store to arrange the upgrade program? Or can that only be done on release day and after?

No you can and should reserve tomorrow. Not sure of the max per transaction though.

Someone bit! :p

I knew it!

be interested how easy it will be to order 8 and 8 plus in the morning

be good to hear from people here who do

I'd expect it to be easier than previous years, fingers crossed that the high capacity storage models are less popular.

Do I need anything to pre order tomorrow on the IUP? I'll be working on site when the pre orders go live so if I need anything with me like card etc I'll take it on site with me or do I just take all that stuff in store when I pick it up?

Is that right that ordering is open to 50 countries on the 27th? If so I can see the servers going into meltdown!
