Has anyone managed to reserve a phone for payment using the 'iPhone Payments' method (same as iUP but no 11 month upgrade & AppleCare) - I can't see a link anywhere to use this payment method?

Last year I had to wait until the end of Oct for my 7 in jet black

This is hilarious, they're all still in stock for next Friday.

just checked though my mails..

I ordered the 7+ JB last year, email confirmation at 8.06am on 9th Sept.. and the delivery had already slipped to 2-3 weeks! and was delivered 5th Oct.

but last year there were strong rumours that the JB was going to be in short supply and that was the case.. this year there has been no noise of delays for the 8, just the X. I get the feeling the X will start slipping back in minutes!

just goes to show that production has been running a while and they've got plenty of stock out to the stores.. should also mean carriers will have stock for next week too

...just choose the IUP and then when you go the store to collect, just tell'em you want to opt for IP - that's what I'm doing (there's no links to the IP).

Interested in an answer to this.

Do you just reserve a phone for in-store pick-up, then set up the 'iPhone payments' scheme once you get to the store to collect it? I assume you don't get charged when you reserve a phone?

If you have paid for pick up, I think you can still switch to iUP.

If you've paid and opted for delivery, I don't think you can.

I can't find a link anywhere to 'Reserve' the phone for in store pick up unless you select the iUP. Other payment options seem to be to pay online and then pick up in store (or have delivered). I don't think that you will be able to switch one of these to the iPhone Payments plan once you have chosen to pay online by card.

As is suggested above, it is probably best to reserve a phone with a new iUP agreement and then swap it to an IP when in store as you haven't already agreed to use your card to pay.

It would certainly be easier if they gave these additional payment options in more obvious places within the checkout process but then they would rather you pay up front I guess.

...correct!

Select the IUP via the website/app and then when you go to collect, you just tell'em you want to pay via iPhone Payments. Yep, there is no charge when just reserving.

Well despite me saying I wasn't going to order the new iPhone 8 Plus... I did!

Have decided to stick with o2; went for the 256GB version in Space Grey.

I had a look at EEs SIM only deals, as I'm considering a Watch SS upgrade (no choice but to get an LTE one), picked myself up off the floor and decided I'll wait till O2 get it. Perhaps this will be watch v4...

The option is definitely (still) there for me...

...that's because there is NO link. If you reserve the phone for in-store pick, unless you are buying the phone outright online, then you have to select the IUP. Just change this to IP when you get to the store.

When you choose the IUP online or via the app, you don't set up an agreement there and then. You're literally just selecting IUP for the website/app to then give you a reservation slot. When you get to the store for collection, that's when the agreement is set up.

Additionally, I'd be very careful selecting the online finance option as you'll be charged 14% interest rate as opposed to zero % via the IUP or IP.

That is just the option to pick your phone up in store that you have already paid for using your card online. Not the same as reserving the phone for payment once in the store using the other options that are available.
I don't think it is, as I selected the "Other" payment (i.e not Apple Pay) option at the front screen.

Last year you couldn't reserve to pick up in store with no upfront payment until they were actually released. Could't do it on pre-order.

I also noticed the finance options that are suggested to you when checking out online. Bit naughty from Apple really considering they offer 0% interest options that are a little more hidden from view...

Upgrading from a regular 7. I went 8 Plus 256gb on the Upgrade Program. Not sure about the Plus size so will try it and if it's too unwieldy then I'll return it within 14 Days.

I do feel the 8 Plus is a bit of a compromise compared to the X due to the screen and cameras, but also better in some ways by Touch ID, and the UI, etc all being figured out. Thoughts?

Did anyone else try and order for pickup at Bluewater, either IUP upgrade or not? It wasn't showing as an option at all for me for any model of the 8/8+ in any colour/capacity combination , just Lakeside/Bromley/ any other London store

I wasn't that bothered about the 8+ anyway and this may be the kick i need to get the X instead, but just wondering if others had the same experience

The yearly thread. It’s the only time I come here...

Anyway, stock of the 8 at 10am on preorder day concerns me that most people are waiting for the X.
