I think he's getting confused between Pre-Orders to buy outright (where you'll be charged before shipping) and Pre-Orders to reserve and go and collect (where you won't be charged til you go to the store to choose IUP or IP).

This won't happen until the release date.

I saw this charger last night and initially thought it was great until I read a little more and realised that it doesn't do 'fast charging'....

You also need to buy this in order to 'fast charge' your device:

...oh, and I received my Envirofone pack yesterday - £366 locked in for my iPhone 7!
:)

Already set up to fast charge with the 29w Apple charger which I’ve been using for my iPad Pro. The Anker will just be for the bedside table

...thats a good point - I could get myself an Apple Watch fast charger for my 8 Plus!

Just a note to those selling on Envirphone, I've noticed the price (on the iPhone 7+ 256gb anyway) fluctuates between £475 and £473 throughout the past couple of days. So you might want to check that at different times.

...that's not true.

Many on here, including myself, have reserved 'without paying'. I am NOT currently on IUP and yet I have indeed reserved without paying, for collection in-store.....

Hmm. I can’t see that option. Takes me straight to payment when choosing pickup.

yes, I'll be using the 29w USB-C charger I have for my rMB.. annoying the 3rd party usb-c to lighting cable is not supported so will STILL need to fork out for an official one

I bought the 7 Plus on the IUP last year because was hopeful that the iPhone X would be here at the same price. Which it isn't... So now I will not be upgrading as the price on the X is day time robbery. What's good is that I at least managed to take advantage of the AppleCare+ as I broke the screen on my phone in summer. So now waiting until next year when the proper version of the X arrives with the properly working everything on it (FaceID included - remember how bad TouchID was on 5S in comparison to 6/6S?)

So after being set to get the X I’m now back to being in the 8 Plus mindset

Waiting a few more weeks to pre order the X. Plus if there’s a shipping delay I might not see my X till Dec or even Jan. by which point I’ll only have 9 months of use before I upgrade it again

Amazon had "refurbished" Apple USB-C/Lightning cables for about £12. I bought 2 with a 3rd-Party USB-C 30w charger for my iPad Pro 10.5 and it works a treat

I'm not that bothered about the fast charging. This will keep it topped up while I'm at work as my phone sits on my desk most of the time.
ditto.. the wireless charger will just sit next to the bed for me.. no doubt i'll some day end up with the apple air power thing.. just need to buy an watch and AirPods :D

My original order (which I've just cancelled) which was going to be delivered went into processing, but the pick up in store is still order placed.

I'm debating whether it's worth getting a screen protector for the 8. Is the glass any more scratch resistant than previously? (That being said I'm guessing this won't make a difference to the softness/hardness of the oleophobic coating so may still get micro abrasions/scratches relatively easily).

Took the protector off my 6 plus a few months ago and have rather liked using without.

when will Apple Stores have demo units of the 8 to play with? Now (when preorders are open) or only on launch day?

For those trying to decide between the iPhone 8+ and the X, like myself, a big decider might be that for £50 more than the iPhone X 256gb you get the iPhone 8+ 64gb (use a cheap iCloud rate to improve the data threshold) and an iWatch gps+cellular (£1198). Could be a great decision if you don't have the watch and have thought about it. This will allow some time for the iPhone X to settle down over the year for the inevitable Xs edition. What do those in a similar position think?

EE are an enormous rip off. Seriously, avoid at all costs. They’re only in the business of getting people to overpay for their mobile network. So many better deals out there.

I think all of the networks are a rip off they are way over charging for data and contracts will soon if not already be breaking the £100 a month barrier.
