If you can reserve do you have to turn up on release day or could I go the next day?

I'm trying to find out the same as I'm away for work until Monday am. Internet suggests held for 24 hours which wouldn't be enough for me.
My OH could sign the new credit agreement in his name but the existing one is in mine so suspect that's a no-go

Baffles me how much data some people get through. What are you doing?! I’m on WiFi about 85% if the time and my usage is probably between 1-2GB a month and that’s with very heavy internet use. People racking up massive data usage really confuse me. What’s eating so much data?

I stream music all the time, watch youtube a lot, never use wifi (it's really bad at work) and at home I get 60mbits easily at home on 4g

Yes, stores have been well supplied this year
I think this is a deliberate move by Tim Cook.

I think it's we'll known that Steve Jobs and now Tim Cook, would like all iPhones sold in store and to cut even the carriers out.

The iUP is also genius, in the fact that it draws people in store initially and will draw them back to upgrade.

High stock levels in stores is not a fluke IMHO

....I'll definitely be getting one for my 8 Plus - I always use a tempered glass protector on all my iPhones as I'd absolutely hate to scratch the screen of the phone itself.

Last year Apple were offering Belkin tempered protectors in-store. I got one fitted to my 7 Plus when I picked it up on iUP. It also meant they would replace it if they had to swap the handset out for a repair (that wasn't accidental damage).

They used a machine to fit it perfectly an it's on there to this day.

More down to the lukewarm reception for the 8 and a lot of people waiting for the X. It will be bedlam on here for the X pre order. Normality will be resumed then.

If wanting to pre-order the X can you do that on pre-order order day for the IUP or standard monthly plan? Do you then have to go to store on release day?

If I decide on X I may go on the IUP but can't get to a store on release day.

If you can reserve do you have to turn up on release day or could I go the next day?

Just tried to IUP an 8+ and it would only let me reserve for the 22nd. But for the X it might be different as store stock levels will not be as high as they seem with the 8

I'm on wifi at home and the in the office but I will manage to use 8-10GB a month. mostly streaming when commuting

I think he's getting confused between Pre-Orders to buy outright (where you'll be charged before shipping) and Pre-Orders to reserve and go and collect (where you won't be charged til you go to the store to choose IUP or IP).

This won't happen until the release date.

So, in other words every pre-order made prior to launch day has to be paid in full prior to the iphone being delivered or picked up in store, whereas reservations for in store collections are a different system which only goes live from launch day onwards?

Please tell me that I have got this correct now otherwise I will be mortally embarrassed!:Do_O

With the IUP/in-store reservations, how long do you have to collect them if successfully ordered for launch day collection? Likely to be in the US for work until the Monday morning.

If you new customer on the program, small
Print suggests it's just the day you pick. That's why I can't do it as can't get to store on the Friday.

If you existing customer you can choose a day. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

thats my take on things

Okay so you are talking about the iUP reservation link. So I’m not wrong. It’s not possible for regular customers to reserve without paying using generic order pages.

.....hmm, perhaps, partly.

I am a regular customer(I am not part of the IUP) who has reserved without paying. The 'Join' button doesn't actually make you join the program. It just gives you the reservations page where you sort out your reservation and then when you go to collect, you'l decide if you actually want IUP or IP. Perhaps when you collect, if you say "....well actually, I want to pay for the phone outright" I can't see them saying no.

You either pre-order and pay in full prior to delivery, or you can reserve a phone via the IUP page to pick up on launch day (but from my own experience and discussion on here last year they may insist that you purchase with a IUP plan)

Reservations for paying cash / IP go live on launch day

Blue water was closed for refurbishment recently, but I haven't been over there for a week or so so don't know if it's reopened yet or not.

Thanks, that would explain it! Its almost a sign that I should be waiting for the X

There appears to be a level of conjecture here. Other people have stated that they have 'heard' that you can't in fact change your mind and pay for the phone outright once you get to the store and others have stated that you can't change from iUP to IP once you have reserved through iUP. I guess we will find out on launch day!

It would make things a lot easier if Apple were actually clear about all of these different payment options. I even went to my local store a couple of weeks ago to try and preempt all of this and gain a clear picture of how to get the phone on launch day using IP but no one in the store could tell me. Great.

Will the wireless charging work through a good quality leather (Apple or Vaja) case and Apple silicon case?

some comments on here suggest apple stopped letting people do that and said they could only collect that reservation with IUP. I guess it will depend on the stance apple take the year

Just checked, order still sat at order placed... apple chat lady said it hadnt made it through to them yet as there had been a lot of orders.. how long should it take to move to order in progress?

Just thought I am paying £10 a month for insurance for my phone, my wifes and my laptop may cancel that use IUP with Applecare+ and just dump the laptop onto my home insurance and at least that way I have a bit more peace of mind.

I would be paranoid as hell if I dropped it, scuffed it specially given the 1k price so would you guys say applecare+ is a must or not?
