I imagine it's most likely the latter. Whilst I'm sure they will have sold a fair chunk of 8/8+ phones I imagine the majority of people will buy the X and ignore the price. I personally would've bought it had it been £100 cheaper but my personal stance is I'm not paying more than my MacBook for an iPhone. At least not yet anyway! I have no doubt the X will be an amazing device but the price and the way they've implemented the camera bar/notch with the screen doesn't sit right with me. That being said I'll still be reading and looking at posts and pictures when people receive them!

Agree with a lot of this. My reasons for not picking the X was that I've been burnt once before buying the first generation of a new type Apple device & ever since that I always go for the S models or second generation. So figure get an 8+ on IUP & see what the next generation X models are like.

For those trying to decide between the iPhone 8+ and the X, like myself, a big decider might be that for £50 more than the iPhone X 256gb you get the iPhone 8+ 64gb (use a cheap iCloud rate to improve the data threshold) and an iWatch gps+cellular (£1198). Could be a great decision if you don't have the watch and have thought about it. This will allow some time for the iPhone X to settle down over the year for the inevitable Xs edition. What do those in a similar position think?

the watch actually helped me downsize from a 6s+ to a 6s. I found I wasn't checking my phone as often during the day as I could see notifications on my watch. Arguably you could go down to an SE + watch, and then save up for an ipad if you want to watch videos..

I'm debating whether it's worth getting a screen protector for the 8. Is the glass any more scratch resistant than previously? (That being said I'm guessing this won't make a difference to the softness/hardness of the oleophobic coating so may still get micro abrasions/scratches relatively easily).

Took the protector off my 6 plus a few months ago and have rather liked using without.
I've not had a protector on my 7+ for a year and there are a few scratches in the corner and the like... if I was selling it, it might have detracted from the cost. If you're getting on IUP, don't worry and get it repaired if it breaks!

I think all of the networks are a rip off they are way over charging for data and contracts will soon if not already be breaking the £100 a month barrier.

I finance my device separately and always go with a SIM-only plan. Currently with iD Mobile and they give me an eye watering amount of data for an even more shocking price. Makes everyone else look drastically over priced.

But I agree that network deals are still outdated. They’re beefing them up with calls and texts (which nobody needs) and slumping on the data (which is the only part anybody uses). Someone needs to introduce pure data deals with tiny amounts of texts and calls.

no power supply with that? What type will you need for fast charging - any 2.4A 5v USB charger?
Half wondering to wait for impressions in case only some models fast charge.
Not sure. There’s an anker branded quick charger that’s recommended but not clear if other chargers will work. Will just be pairing with one of the many 5w Apple chargers I have lying around for a slow overnight charge

I'm no longer getting it on iUP as it's a 45 mile drive to the nearest store and don't think I can be chewed with that each year.

That being said though I'm not particularly bothered about resale value as I always sell them to recyclers such as Mazuma when I'm done. The main area of scratches on my current plus is along the bottom edge so wouldn't be protected anyway I guess. I'll stick with not using one as the scratches on the screen at the moment are only visible in bright light when the screen is off and are very fine (but numerous) so I think I'll live with that!

Hmm. I can’t see that option. Takes me straight to payment when choosing pickup.

...choose your device, choose your store and voila - one new iPhone 8 reserved, without paying (you can decide if you want to stick with IUP or go the IP route when you go to collect)!!

I am undecided between apple finance or a 0% credit card and

My contract is 32gb for data and I pretty much use 90% easy each month but I only use 100 minutes and text messages a month so absolutely no need for unlimited everything but hey gives me peace of mind if for some reason I need to make hell of a lot of calls.

Okay so you are talking about the iUP reservation link. So I’m not wrong. It’s not possible for regular customers to reserve without paying using generic order pages.

Has anyone managed to reserve anything for Bluewater collection? I'm seeing stock for all models/colours/capacities in every other store except Bluewater! Don't fancy a trip over the Dartford Crossing to Lakeside on a Friday evening!!

Baffles me how much data some people get through. What are you doing?! I’m on WiFi about 85% if the time and my usage is probably between 1-2GB a month and that’s with very heavy internet use. People racking up massive data usage really confuse me. What’s eating so much data?

Do you know how long it will take to charge the iPhone Xmfrom 0-100% using the 7.5w charger? Assuming the iPhone X has a 2400mAh battery.
I assume there will likely be a 5w wall charger in the box, so should be marginally faster than the included slow charger!

....I'll definitely be getting one for my 8 Plus - I always use a tempered glass protector on all my iPhones as I'd absolutely hate to scratch the screen of the phone itself.

With the IUP/in-store reservations, how long do you have to collect them if successfully ordered for launch day collection? Likely to be in the US for work until the Monday morning.

As per my previous post, they might not allow you to choose payment method if you reserved using the IUP part of the website. They changed policy a few days after the 7 was introduced last year and insisted on IUP only if you reserved that way. Depends on if that policy has stuck

Does anyone know whether you can still buy the phone outright if you reserve via upgrade program but then change mind and decide to buy outright. Will Apple still sell you the phone you reserved when you turn up for appointment?

recyclers might knock off a bit of cash for scratches... but i'm in your boat, no screen protector for me either.

good point on that bottom edge... need to check if the official apple cases still have the bottom and top cutouts still...

I though you could but I'm sure there was a comment on here who tried at Milton Keynes but was refused and could only do IUP

If wanting to pre-order the X can you do that on pre-order order day for the IUP or standard monthly plan? Do you then have to go to store on release day?

If I decide on X I may go on the IUP but can't get to a store on release day.

If you can reserve do you have to turn up on release day or could I go the next day?

Blue water was closed for refurbishment recently, but I haven't been over there for a week or so so don't know if it's reopened yet or not.
