I find it amusing that people don't see the 8/Plus as a significant upgrade to the 7/Plus

It is, in the same magnitude the 6s/Plus was to the 6/Plus, and the 7/Plus, was to the 6s/Plus.

It has all but the screen and form-factor of the X (if considering the Plus)

If there was no X this year we all would have been clamouring over the 8 and that would have been sold out. But we have the X, we have OLED, we have near bezel free design, we have face ID.. with these the 8 is a bit the significant upgrade the X is over the 7

Isn't PayPal Credit charged at 14%?
I think it’s a little more but it only applies to purchases of less than £150 and/or purchases that haven’t been paid off after 4 months. Not exactly sure how it works when there are multiple purchases but I spread the payment of my iPad Pro over 3 months and haven’t been charged interest.

I think that poster meant for fault repairs.

Although we only get 1 year warranty here in the UK, Apple are well known for repairing/replacing devices purchased from them into years 2 & beyond.

They don't have to legally, but they know that under Consumer Law they could be taken to court and in the event of a premature failure of one of their premium devices, they'd almost certainly lose, so they offer it up front.

People think we get 2 + years warranty here in the UK, we don't.

Ok, I may rethink getting AppleCare Plus with my iPhone X then, its £199 here is the UK I think.

Just off the phone to EE, I've moved over to a 12 month SIM only deal. Went through to retentions which are by far the best people to deal with. 22GB per month, unlimited calls / text, BT Sport included, 6 months free AppleMusic for £21 a month. EU roaming, USA, Canada, and a couple of other places included.

That will go up to £26 a month after I've added the the Apple Watch option which is £5 on the 22nd.

I've been updating my payment & address details on various websites in hope of pre ordering an iPhone X. The Apple Store app will be the first place I try. But are there any other places I should try? So far, I've got:

Carphone Warehouse
Argos
PC World
John Lewis
Tesco Direct
Do not, under ANY circumstances, buy from CPW.

You will get an "Unlocked & SIM Free" iPhone, that will lock to the 1st SIM you insert.

And if the carrier's policy is no unlocks on that model, you are totally screwed.

Plus their customer service is horrible! i went into one of their stores a while back looking at the new iPhone's (this was when the 6 Plus had come out) and the guy wouldn't leave me alone when looking, then he decided to go on about how i should get an Android phone, asking why do you want an iPhone anyway. I ended up walking out of the store, i've been into one since.

You guys I cant wait for Friday. People keep asking me why I went for the 8 instead of the X.

Few reasons. My 7 Plus died when I took it into the water at the beach about 5 months ago so I used my old 6 till now. The battery only lasts for about 10 mins on a charge and it's slow as ****. I'm also flying to Asia in two weeks and I can't imagine the holiday with that 6 I use now so I had no choice but to order the 8 Plus, which I'll be able to take with me.

The X looks amazing, I don't mind the notch at all but knowing Apple, they probably used tech that will be improved in the next gen like Touch ID was on the 6S, Haptic Engine and screen on the 7 with Wide Colour Gamut. Oh and something that no one talked about for me is the Stainless Steel around the frame, I'm not a huge fan of the material.
With all that said, I really hope you guys waiting for the X will love it and I hope you won't have headaches when ordering!

Good luck!

I'd have said 'look pal, I get it that you're on commission but this is not the way to get it'. I hate phone shops, I'm sure there's some sound lads working in them somewhere but on the whole I've found them to be absolute weapons.

The api on apples site still not accessible. Will see if it changes once the reservation system goes live
The reservation system is live?
https://reserve-prime.apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/iPhone/availability?channel=1&iPP=E

The json files look good too
https://reserve-prime.apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/iPhone/stores.json
https://reserve-prime.apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/iPhone/availability.json

I can't check right now but if you replace the URLs in the script with above it might work?

Is that just for iPhone or all sim free phones? I've just got a Note 8 from them and according to the label, it will be fully unlocked after 5 mins of phone calls.

It’s all about the X.

Given the poll shows around the same number of people getting the X 256gb compared to getting ANY variant of the 8/8+.

Surprised that the X 64gb is not the popular model. Apple have done well knowing most people won’t find it big enough.

I think most people will get 64

Thanks for the reservation URL. I reserved a silver 8 Plus 256 yesterday for my iUP upgrade. I have now reserved a gold just in case I like that more :)

Edit: and the Space grey lmao

I'm going for the 8 plus 64gb.
I'm upgrading from a 6 plus that I've had since launch in 2014. I like the look of the X but I'm not convinced it won't have first gen problems. Plus I reckon the upgrade from 6 plus to 8 plus will be pretty significant.

I've got one reserved at the Apple store Reading for the 22nd and at the same time I'm joining the upgrade programme.

Anyone know how on earth to increase the credit limit in PayPal? Mine's been stuck at 750 for two years now...

I have 8 plus 256gb gold reserved in Basingstoke store which I hoping to change from upgrade to iPhone payments.

I have a Silver 8 Plus 256 reserved in Basingstoke for my iUP upgrade
I also have a Gold one and a Black one reserved in case I change my mind :)

I’m sure mine raised automatically, it may be linked to your use of it, I’m not sure. Could be worth contacting them about it though?

Called them ... they don't increase limits, the limit that you get is set upon application, and is then maintained for the life of that credit account.
