I find it amusing that people don't see the 8/Plus as a significant upgrade to the 7/Plus

It is, in the same magnitude the 6s/Plus was to the 6/Plus, and the 7/Plus, was to the 6s/Plus.

It has all but the screen and form-factor of the X (if considering the Plus)

I think a lot of plus users are going to find the iPhone X smaller than they would like in screen real estate terms.

The X is only bigger than the plus in vertical real estate and even then its only marginal when you take into account the "ears"/status bar and the drag handle/UI button for home at the bottom of the screen. The width of the X display is exactly the same as the current 4.7 inch 6/6s/7 and considerably narrower than the 6/6s/7 Plus.

Called them ... they don't increase limits, the limit that you get is set upon application, and is then maintained for the life of that credit account.
That seems odd. I’m sure my limit was upped, perhaps it wasn’t. That’s a shame as that seems like a low amount to set for the life of the account!

I have a Silver 8 Plus 256 reserved in Basingstoke for my iUP upgrade
I also have a Gold one and a Black one reserved in case I change my mind :)

I wouldn't normally reserve more than one but there is still stock available locally this afternoon so I've reserved the gold 8 Plus 64GB as well as the silver one. I won't be able to decide until I see them in the flesh (glass?) :)

The fact the 6S had double the amount of RAM made it a significant upgrade over the 6, especially for the plus version. That was a big reason why I upgraded to 6S+. I upgraded to the 7+ primarily for the Jet Black colour, I'd wanted a proper black phone since they ditched black for space grey with the 5S

I got the following deal per phone:

iPhone 8 Plus 64GB

£229.99 upfront
£42.99 a month (EE Max Plan)
8GB Internet
Apple Music for 6 Months
BT Sport for 24 months
EU Roaming

Was happy with that.

Does any one know why you can only reserve on the iUP for collection on the 22nd? Why not the 23rd or 24th..??

The cynic in me is so the stores are full of people on release day. I want to do IUP but can't go on Friday, I asked in the Birmingham store and they said I will just have to check online for availability every day after the phone is released

Nice! Depends if the data returned is the same structure. Will take a look when I can but give it a try. Given there seems to be plenty of stock of the 8 in most stores it might not add any value right now. Will be useful indeed in 6 weeks!

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

It was £50 cheaper per phone online but I cba with the hassle of going to another network and getting a pac code and going back twice to keep the number. 8GB is plenty for both phones.

I modified the script for iPhone 8 model numbers, it runs but doesn't detect any stock. The structure of availability.json does appear to be different.
contract":true,"unlocked":false. Should be relatively easy to modify the script so that it checks for :true but I literally wouldn't know where to start.

Then with all due respect, the X is not for you. It's shows a little more content, but the content is not bigger as the resolution/DPI is higher. In fact, it will be worse in that respect to the Plus.

Also the "tiny speed bump" is the same for the X ... same A11 chip.
It worked out very well with the iPad going to the 10.5" :)

IIRC there’s a mapping of the model numbers to phones somewhere in he script. I’ll have a play tonight

Haven't really looked at the details of the upgrade programme before - if you sign up and trade in an iPhone, can you use the value of it to offset the monthly cost at all?

Ah right, Thanks. So it'd take, say, 3 months off the term but the amounts stay the same? If I upgraded after 11 months, then that would kinda be irrelevant, wouldn't it?

I'm on Three with a 6S at the moment and plan to get a X, but would rather pay more up front and have lower monthly payments. Most of the contract plans nowadays seem to be lower amounts up front and higher amounts each month.

So it isn’t a 5.15” 16:9 equivalent like the rumours suggested? That would mean a mid-way between the 8 and 8+ for most video content.

Just got a 0% offer until December 2020 from my credit card company. It must be a sign!

I don’t know if I read they just credit you with the value of the phone and your IUP Agreement stays the same. Could be wrong
