Welp, it is done. iPhone 8+ 256gb with O2. £60pm with 3gb data. Should be delivered to me on release day. Works out £2.95 more than what I'm paying now for my 7+ 256gb.

Now I just gotta sell the current iPhone for as close to £545 as I can!

Thought this was a deal that was good enough to share here.. for existing customers only (unfortunately)!

Just today I upgraded my current SIM only deal to the EE 4G Max 30GB Data, Unlimited Calls & Texts Tariff.

I was mid-contract (month 7 of 12) and managed to start the new 12 month contract with minimal haggling or penalties via the web chat route.

EE are the best network by far in the UK in terms of speeds and coverage!

Hope this helps.. perhaps to complement a shiny new iPhone 8/8+/X!?
Your lucky I am in month 7 of 12 month contact and I saw this deal on hot deals uk but they wouldn't let me upgrade half at this point unless I bought a phone.

If I’ve reserved for store pickup on the iUP.... will they let me change to the payments programme when I collect it or not...?

I think it either depends on who you speak with or how you phrase it when you speak to them. I'm guessing those that were successful on HUKD had phrased it in a way where they say that they'd like more data or mins as it's not enough for them on their existing plan. That might trigger them to 'see what they can do' and they probably pull out a list of plans that they can find with you, effectively re-contracting with them. That, or their customer service advisers have no clue what they're doing.

£60pm for only 3gb data? O2 are expensive that's why I have just switched to EE in order to use my Watch 3 (pre ordered from Apple) I went with upfront cost £349 for 8+256gb £47pm with 25gb data pm. Selling my 6s + £300ish and maybe just maybe sell 8 in a month and fund the rest for the X as iv heard others are going down this route to keep there monthly payments down.

Granted I do not have an iPhone 8 or X yet but I am paying £62 for 32gb data.

You should be getting much more data for that price at a minimum 10gb

Unfortunately I don't think the carriers will have good offers on plans with phones (8,8+,X), for a few months yet. They're cashing in on they hype.

They initially didn't let me change it over the phone. Denied the deal existed!
I tried the web chat route and the guy straight away offered it.
I would recommend try until you get the offer.
Good luck!

For people considering buying their phone outright but who don't want to pay full whack in one go. Don't forget you can use PayPal credit and get 4 months 0% interest on purchases of over £150, this is what I've done to spread it out a little. I would've done iPhone upgrade or payments plan but don't want AppleCare and my nearest Apple Store is 45 miles away and don't think I can be bothered to make the journey every year!

Also the PayPal 4 months 0% is reusable in that any purchase you make over £150 takes advantage of it automatically and the offer doesn't expire.

Am doing this for my Apple Watch

This year lacks the excitement of previous years as the stock levels seem pretty decent

We are never happy. Too little stock or too much stock :D

Anyone know how on earth to increase the credit limit in PayPal? Mine's been stuck at 750 for two years now...

Called them ... they don't increase limits, the limit that you get is set upon application, and is then maintained for the life of that credit account.

It might be worth cancelling the current agreement asap and opening a new one. They are odd. I tried to order a MacBook using PayPal loan a couple of years ago and was declined (never declined as have very good rating although I think perhaps I made an error in monthly commitments as it was unclear if it was joint finances or not). However shortly after used PayPal credit to get something I wanted to pay for the following month and now I have a £5k limit (which is never going to be fully used since I practically refuse to pay interest on anything!)

So, come next year when there's a new phone out, I won't have to go about selling the phone on eBay or getting low value for it at CEX or Envirophone. I'll just hand it back to Apple and get a new iUP phone. And I'll have spent circa 650 on the X rather than 999.
Environphone offered me £467 for my 7plus, Apple valued it £400
So not doing iUP works out very much cheaper for me

I agree, with the 7 or 7plus it was often borderline whether it would be better to buy outright and go sim only or buy on contract.

For the this years phones the contracts are terrible - they’re hoping people can’t afford to buy outright, but then somehow are happy to pay £70-80 per month....

I was happy to put £1259 down for 2 8+'s and pay £27.99 a month for 8GB internet I think, but instead got a different deal via EE upgrade. I could of saved more by going third party but I couldn't be arsed with all the hassle of changing numbers over.

My concern is that the value on services like Envirofone will go down substantially by the time the X is released.

You'd think, but O2 are a bit rubbish with their allowances. It's not a huge deal though, as I have wifi at home and at work so I never run out of data.

(It's £38 phone/£22 tariff, btw)
