Wasn't the cheapest iPhone 6 £549?

Cheapest iPhone 8 now £699.

That's still an increase of 27.3% in just 3 years!
Yeah the iPhone 6 was definitely no less than that brand new... no idea where £249 is coming from.

So by looking at a few other phones on o2's site I've worked out their 20GB plan (30GB if you're already a customer as you get another 10GB free) is £35 a month, regardless of phone manufacturer. So that leaves us with £42 a month for the iPhone X, with 1 free screen replacement and a free upgrade after 12 months, compared with £56.45 on the iUP.

Also, not applicable to everyone but there is also o2 Open, where employees from certain companies (l'm in the NHS) can get 25% off the airtime plan. That brings the airtime plan down to £26.25 and the monthly total to £68.25.

Maybe I've just become numb to Apple's pricing but that seems reasonable for such a high amount of data and a yearly upgrade? Also I'm assuming this is the 64GB model (which personally is all I need) so probably add another £10 a month for 256GB?

£35 is about £15 too much for that amount of data.

A lot of that is down to currency rates. Although it is annoying they seem to have adjusted again this time to £1=$1 just as rates are going up £1=$1.35ish

You can almost fly to New York and buy an X for the same price as the UK X.

Devaluation of pound since brexit. I bought my iMac in 2015 for about 1600 and last year the same model was just under 2k :confused::confused: thanks brexit.

Fancy that, an 'excellent' credit rating with Experian but not eligible for a Barclaycard. This has me a bit worried.

I have an "excellent" credit rating on Experian but was turned down credit when I tried to buy on IUP last year so had to just pay full amount instead

Aha, I’ll just kill the facility, since I don’t use it as often anymore.

I did, they said that they don’t increase them, I asked about what the help pages said and he noted that he would ask his supervisor to get it changed as it is not accurate.

I’ll be closing the facility tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up. Once I've paid my Series 1 Watch off to replace my Series 0 model I've had two years now and is ready for the scrap heap I'll be doing the same.

For people considering buying their phone outright but who don't want to pay full whack in one go. Don't forget you can use PayPal credit and get 4 months 0% interest on purchases of over £150, this is what I've done to spread it out a little. I would've done iPhone upgrade or payments plan but don't want AppleCare and my nearest Apple Store is 45 miles away and don't think I can be bothered to make the journey every year!

Also the PayPal 4 months 0% is reusable in that any purchase you make over £150 takes advantage of it automatically and the offer doesn't expire.
With iPhone payments you get interest free over 20 months and don't need to take the Apple Care.

As for an "Excellent" credit rating each lender uses their own scoring system when it comes to finance.

It is bonkers, I agree. A couple of years ago I tried to get finance on an iPad Air 2 w/Barclays and was declined.

Six months later I tried for a Mac Mini and they approved me....

The best of it? Nothing had change in terms of my credit history!

@hosberg do you have any credit cards? A simple reason why it might have declined you is because you've not had a revolving credit history :/

That said, the Experian score is what Experian uses, and Barclays almost certainly use a different set of rules.

Yes my credit card is with Barclays!!!! They keep increasing my limit on my credit card but have always turned me down when I've tried to buy Apple stuff on 0% with Barclays finance.

I'm actually in the US for work the weekend the phone comes out but I'm not entirely sure how reservations would work. Will definitely see what accessories I can get though!

That's weird, barclaycard is more stringent..

I wonder if they're more sensitive to some weird factors such as credit utilisation

Is this the iUP or a different plan?
It's called iPhone Payments and is slightly different from iUP in that you don't have to take the Apple Care but still get to spread the cost over the 20 months. I used it for my 7 on launch day last year, traded in my 6 and then used the money to reduce the term of the loan so my 7 will be paid of in January 18.

Apply in store.

If you use the app to look at the iUP, there's a link to it there.

If I was doing the payment plan for the X and has to take it out in store. Is this something I would have to do the day the phone is released or could I go in prior to release, sort out the plan and then go in for pick up? How would this work out getting a phone on release day?
