Ultimate Thread: 4890 in Mac Pro

I wish I could get the jumping mouse back, cause right now I can't even get the computer to see the card.
Tried ATIFlash many different ways. System profiler doesn't even see that the card is in the PCI slot. Same in windows (though I'm not as comfortable with windows, I'm not 100% sure where to look in the device manager)
I'm guessing the 7300GT firmware totally bricked the card... Sucks..

Ok so I used Cindori's "Zeus" software to flash my 4890, but I was still having bugs like the "iron curtain" but was going to fix it by downloading new drivers for 10.6.3. Anyway, I wanted to flash my 4890 back to its original ROM and I read in "Zeus" forum where you download it that you could leave your cards in and not have to remove the cards. Well maybe I was being a bit naive but I didn't take out my Apple 4870 which is in the first slot. It got flashed and now I'm up sh*# creek without a paddle. All I see is a gray screen with no apple and then a blue screen with a funny white box in the upper left hand corner of the screen. The 4890 does the same thing except no white box.
What can I do to get my cards working again? I'm really not sure. Do I have to use my system disk or what. I've got a time machine backup so it's ok if anythings going to get wiped out.
Please help, get back to my ASAP.

WOW! Is that really my only option here? There is nothing at all on the system disk that can help out? Gosh darn it. Hmm, ok well it looks like I'll have to find another tower lying around.

I got one more idea. You tried to boot with only one card installed or you have both of them in your Mac? In second case, try to boot with only one installed (try both that way).
There is a chance, that Zeus flashed 4890 and somehow when it's installed together with Apple one, it causes boot problem.
Did you installed any drivers ("dualdvi" package) or QE/CI patch after flashing (before reboot)?

Ok I installed drivers for 10.6.3 before I flashed the card. I had already put in natit and qe before. I'm going to try your suggestion. For what it's worth, the 4870 was in the first slot and the 4890 was in the second slot. One quick question I don't understand. If the 4890 does work, how do I get in the 4870 to flash if I'm flying blind with it?

Considering you get past grey screen using only 4870 in the MacPro, I think your drivers are screwed up and not the card.
I would first try restoring the system by maybe, booting another disk and reinstall 10.6.3 update from there.
EDIT: ok u posted same minute as me. I would strongly recommend removing Natit as you are not supposed to use it. I don't know where you got that idea from.

I think Natit was the only thing keeping the 4890 working because now this card doesn't work at all

.Ok, I don't want to waste anyone else's time but I have just a couple more questions. What solutions are left for me. Can I pull out the drive clone it, and through another machine install the driver update? From there I can possibly get the 4890 going again. Though even if that happens, how can you flash another card? If you can't see anything when it boots with it in, how do you swap them so it works? If someone can refer me to a section of the forum that would be great. Hopefully I'll be ok, but I suppose worst case scenario I just bring it to the Apple Store and shrug my shoulders.

If not any recommendations on a reasonable 4890 for sale in the UK at the moment from anyone? Was recommended the Sapphire Vapor-x but there seems to be many versions of this and it's not the easiest to get running.
Also if I am running two OSX partitions (mine and my girlfriend's) and a bootcamp partition, once I get it running in my partition of OSX and also XP do I need to do anything in her partition?

I have a 4890 ATI Card flashed which was working perfectly. because fan was Noisy I install a new fan "Accelero TWIN TURBO", all is working fine. I used to only have one ATI card plugged, now I have both, the original NVDIA GeForce 7300 GT in slot 4 and the ATI in slot-1.
The problem is that when the Mac is going in Sleeping mode, moving the mouse our touching the keyboard dot wake up display !!! the MAC seems to wake-up but no display. I have to stop and restart the mac to get the display back ...
Is this a know problem, if so how can I fix it ?

XFX 4890 ZSFC V3.1 working in Mac, but not bootcamp
Wow, thanks for everything guys! I got my 4890 working using the bootcd method and it works great! My benchmark tests jumped from ~90-100 to around the 900 range (upgrading from a 7300).
The problem I am having now, which is pretty frustrating, is now it won't work on my bootcamp side. I have Mac os 16.3, along with the latest apple bootcamp drivers. I have also updated my ATI drivers to the 10.4 offered on their website, but when I try to open catalyst it says it doesn't support my current GPU. ALSO when I try to boot with the 4890 the windows logo appears but then the screen goes black. When I try to install drivers from the CD it says it can't read any XFX hardware. When I attempt to install the ati driver packet for bootcamp it says it cant find components in my current hardware or software config.
Now when i originally tried troubleshooting this problem i went to the device manager and my card was under "other devices"-VGA enabled. But I installed the drivers and now it is under display adapters as a "ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series". I have searched the internet for hours but I havn't been able to get it working properly.
You guys have helped me so much, but Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have tried all possible ways to make it work but i woulds say it´s incompatible after 20 hours of troubleshoting. at least for me... Andogrando made it work some how.
Instead i bought a cheap 2nd hand "PC" GeForce XFX GTX285 worked perfekt after installing Netkas Enabler.

I buy this card after reading Peloche's table stating I should be able to get a V1.6 or V3.1 of this card working.... card turned up today.
Yes it's a Radeon XFX-HD 4890 1GB RAM but...
Manuf code HD-489X-ZHFC V1.0 made in china.
I've done quite a bit of searching on the forum and only found people have ZHFC cards on a 4870, no 4890s?
Has anyone got one of these cards? My power cables should be turning up tomorrow, I've downloaded Zeus ready but wondering if I should send this card back?
If not would it be recommended that I try making my own rom from the tools the guys on here have provided?

Ok, I give up. I have some how beaten my self, by not making a backop of my original rom, and I cant seem to get it working again with other roms downloades.
