Ok, I'll try that and report back my results. Let me know if I can help in any way to make this work, I'm happy to assit.Id try injector method and be happy if it works at all.
the second graphics card is assuming i have a 4890 already installed. so yeah ive used up all the motherboard power slots ( there are 2 on my mac pro gen 1.1 not sure about the later models )
ive considered using the dvd slots molex cables for power but thats potentially harmful for the card.
... to have thanked the wrong person for creating the QE files Cindori's ATI application is using. That was simply an oversight. You know, Netkas, when struggling with adventures like making exotic graphic cards work, one doesn't pay much attention to who made what. So, I thank you this time, Netkas, for your efforts. As you're not very often present in this thread lately, it is easy to overlook your essential role in all this.
By the way, I installed the 10.5.6 drivers on my 10.4.11 system (had to do it from 10.6.2 because 10.4.11 didn't accept the installation), but apparently nothing changed for now. What next ? Should I try to install 10.5.8 QE with your app, Cindori ?
Thanks and bye !
I got my board flashed! I used version 3.73 of atiflash.exe in DOS instead of the current 3.75 version and it worked! I flashed the board using the H0M3R_EFIROMFX.rom.zip provided by Peloche.
I do get the power cable warning message but thats normal I suppose and once my monitor said the resolution while booting into OS X invalid. I just turned the Dell SP2309W monitor on/off a couple of times and the screen came back up.
I was gonna just get an apple 4870, but $350 just seemed too much.
Thanks everyone here for the help!

so you have display on the card, just no QE?
md5Hoping that I can get a custom bios made
I'll flash and give a report. Thanks so much!!
I bought a XFX HD 4890 ZSFR v1.6 today from bestbuy, but seem to be having some problems getting a good rom on it.
I saw that earlier in this thread there were two people who got the same model/version working, but I have had no success with the ROMs they used. I backed up my original ROM first, via GPU-Z, and then tried flashing by screen sharing in OSX using Cindori's tool.
Could someone point me towards instructions for stitching the EFI to the ROM I backed up.. or do the stitch themselves? I've attached my original ROM.
EDIT: I got it working. I had to flash it in windows for some reason. I also needed to reapply the 10.6.2 combo update. It now doubles the performance of my EVGA GTX 285 for Mac, and at half the cost. Thanks for all the work that everyone has put into this. Attached now are my original rom and the EFI rom I used to flash.
I can't get Quartz Extreme support.
Hi, I've also got the Sapphire Vapor-X with PN 100269VXLE from newegg ready to try flashing. When I look at the card under GPU-Z it looks exactly the same as Bokuholio's, so fingers crossed the rom made for him by Peloche will work. I've attached my original rom just for comparison.
I'll be flashing the card using ATIFlash booted in DOS, which seems to be the best method currently (especially for these Vapor-Xs).
Will report how everything goes once the flashing is done. I want to thank Peloche, Cindori, and Netkas for all the help you've provided within this thread. Without it I would never have the courage to try flashing my own PC cards for MP.
