Cindori, Love your app wish i would have found it before wasting 6 hrs bricking my card and reflashing in a pc machine. -- and donated justly!

Anyways, I have a mac pro 1,1 with the following video card

Attached orginal rom.
Sapphire radeon HD 4870
288-1E131-000SA
11133-19-20R

The 4870 sapphire new flash in your tool is the closest i've come to it working right, but its running hot, is it possible the voltages are too high or something like that in this card?

anyways if you find time would you take a look at this one to see if there is something different?

Dumping ROM

nope

to dump rom use green arrow icon next to BIOS Version

1121__gpuz1.png

I dumped my ROM with GPU-Z, but I get a .bin file that I can't figure out how to make into a .zip file to send to you for modification. Can you instruct me as to how I can accomplish this (probably simple) task? Thank you for your time.

I hope this is correct

Included is my ROM (in a proper .zip file I hope... thanks for the instruction and sorry for my ignorance as I am not much of a Right Clicker) from a MSI 4870 1Gb card I hope to flash for use in my Mac Pro 3.1. Cindori, if this could be modified I would really appreciate it. You have been a great help to a lot of people here. Thanks again for your time.

Hi,

This question is only tangentially related to the thread, sp I'm happy to post it elsewhere if someone points me in the right direction. On the other hand it may be of interest to people reading this thread :)

Is it possible to select the default graphics card in the Mac Pro? By this I mean:

-- 7300GT in slot 3
-- 4890 in slot 1

Boot loader (grey screen) outputs to 7300GT
OS X and XP default to 7300 GT.

This would allow me to run desktop tasks and video (HDCP protected) via the 7300GT and avoid having to switch cables the whole time when outputting to the same HDTV.

I haven't found any way to do this. As soon as I have a card in slot 1, that card is taken as default and the boot loader outputs using slot 1. If I take out the card in slot 1, the system quite happily uses the (only) card in slot 3.

Any ideas?

I purchased the same Tiger Direct refurb 4890 for installation in a MP 3,1 as djhspawn. I will be sure and dump the ROM in Windows and post here so Cindori can have a look at why it didn't seem to work. However, I am going to wait until 3/10 and availability of Cindori's new tool before flashing. So, hopefully there's still cause for optimism, djhspawn.

Cindori - I look forward to making a generous donation if all of this works for me :)

Tom

Cindori,

could the flash process be done in both osx10.5.6 and SL 10.6.2? U don't mention it in the first page of the thread.

Gigabyte HD 4890

Hello Cindori,

Just to keep you up to speed on your very helpful 'ATI Radeon HD 4890 ROMs table' and everything else. The listed EFIROM (No# 11) from your table (http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=209170&d=1262249595) doesn't work for a 'flash' of my Gigabyte HD 4890 card. Flash was attempted multiple times via DOS Boot disc to no avail.

Any other suggestions would be most appreciated.
Best regards...

Here's that 4870 ROM I was talking about. It's from an Asus unit.

Thanks in advance!

XFX 489A-ZDFC-V5.4 Original ROM

Hi Cindori,

Attached is the original ROM for an XFX 489A-ZDFC V5.4. This is the card that was available recently as a refurb from Tiger Direct (no longer) that djhspawn had trouble with. I was wondering if you would be so kind to take a peek and see if there are any issues with it? The card is fully functional for me in Win7 under bootcamp. I'm going to wait to flash it for 10.6.2 until your revised tool is available. I'm using it in a Mac Pro 3,1 with 6 GB of RAM. THANK YOU!!!

Tom

Cindori

I finallly bumped the bios of my XFX-487a-ZWF5. It's not easy to do so and quite strange, i can't dump the bios again by GPU-Z. So this is the only bios file I got. Wuul u please write the bios for me?

Best regards!

but why I can't upload the ZIP file, says upload error ,invalid file
I dumped the file again in pure PC windows but still upload with error. Is the forum server crashed?

haha

I got it all right, here is the file
