Hello to whom suffering from Find My app battery drain, be patient, I believe in coming iPadOS update can fix this problem. I've updated my iPad Pro to the latest beta iPadOS, Find My app is still using a lot of power but the percentage has significant decreased from before 40% to 3% in last 24 hours. So please be patient, we will get it through.

Just want to add a me-too here.
Battery on my IPhone 8 will not last the day since pairing up just One airtag. Was using 25 to 40% of battery- without opening the Find Me app at all(app was closed)

Tried updating to 14.6 latest(update over air)
Tried disabling bluetooth
Tried Not particating in Find Me NW
Even turned Off Find Me on phone

Nothing worked… until i removed the airtag from find me app - and with “find my phone” back on even - there is now no “Find My Background task” using any power.

Airtag is useless to me so, until they fix this- i have several other devices i track - ipad etc-no issue- I dont know why only Airtag should use so much battery or even Any power until find me app is opened?

No battery draining is experienced on any devices after connecting 3 Airtags. Everything is as before.

I have two AirTags paired to my iCloud account. One on my cat and one on a backpack. My wife has two on hers. My 10.5 iPad Pro is experiencing this battery drain issue from the Find My app.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max doesn’t have any issues. Never has.

What is extremely odd is that I was out of town for a week on business my iPad battery was perfect. I had one of my AirTags (the backpack one) with me. I had zero battery drain from Find My the whole week.

It started up again as soon as I got home.

My theory is that the AirTag on the cat might have something to do with it. Lol. He moves around a lot. I wonder if that is causing the iPad to communicate with the airtag more than expected. I know Apple doesn’t officially endorse using them to track pets. Does anyone else who is having this issue have an airtag attached to something that moves around a lot?

Just to update: I got a new 12.9 inch iPad Pro (5th generation) and I am having the same issue. When I am at home the battery drain is constant. I had one airtag with me all day. The other one at home is constantly moving around the house. My guess is that as it moves it is updating the location and thus communicating with the iPad.

maybe I can ask the cat to hold still ??‍♂️?

Heh....added a second airtag (keys) in addition to the one in my SUV and the battery % used by find my has actually gone down from 4% to 3%.

iPhoneX running the 14.7 beta.

Edit - now two sets of keys along with the SUV and holding steady at 3%.

I have 6 Airtags added to my account (I bought 2 packs of 4 units) and I’m experiencing this issue with both my iPhone XR and iPad Air (latest gen) but with different consumption.

On iPhone it drains an average of 15-20%, while on iPad it drains 4%.

I don’t mind about the iPad since I always use it at home and I can charge it, but on iPhone it’s a big problem.

I hope they can fix this soon or I will have to return the Airtags since benefits are lower than inconvenience, for me.

I only have one airtag but I'm having this issue as well. Oddly though, only on my SE2. My 12p is fine, only 3% usage, but on my SE2 Find My has eaten 43% battery today :/ Both phones are running iOS 15 beta 2, so I really don't get why one is fine and the other suffers.

I was getting battery drain on my both 12 pro and m1 iPad Pro 12.9. Decided to remove the airtag and add it again. Battery drain seems to have improved so far on both devices.

Wow! (no doubt partly due to me not actually loading the app as often - novelty factor is waning) - FindMy battery usage is down to 1% (with two pairs of keys nearby and one in my SUV down in the parking garage).

iOS 14.7 beta, iPhoneX

Sadly I have the same issue with iPad Pro 11” 2018 and iPhone 11 Pro all on latest versions (not Betas). Battery info tells me that on iPhone FindMy is 3rd most consuming app, it’s even before Messenger which is battery drainer as we know.
Safari 35% , YouTube 19%, FindMy 16%, Messenger 10%… why?!

I have only 1 tag, with my keys so it’s always with me or around me (or iPad). Still on version I had out-of-box .276

I hard rebooted my SE last night and I think it may have stopped the drain. It's down to 15% currently and seems to still be dropping. Hoping to see it down to 3-4% by tomorrow :)

From what I can tell this issue is still ongoing on both iPad and iPhone, but the timing and occurrence is somewhat random, so it may seem like an OS update fixes it, but a couple of days later it comes back.

I have one airtag on my dog registered from my 12P and battery usage on that is low (1%) whereas on my iPad Pro 10.5 battery usage is a whopping 42% and the pad is always dead when I come to use it. Both on 14.6. I’m going to try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

Some tried the Air Tags Battery Drain on iOS 15 PB, yet?
Same drain problem on my iPad mini 5 running iOS 15 beta. Yesterday it showed 97% battery background usage yet I didn't use it all day! My iPhone 12 PM, 11 PM and iPad 12.9 2021 all seem normal with 2-4% background usage daily. My wife's new iPad 8th gen is a little high at 47-55% consistently. I wish they'd fix this already!!

+1 Also running the iOS 15 PB - on an iPhone X. It was sitting at 1% as it had been on the PB of 14.7. I've been playing around with the app more over the last couple of days, so it's up to 4%.

I have 3 tags in use - two that are regularly in the condo, one that's in my vehicle.

Same problem for me. iPhone 11 Pro is barely 1% but my iPad is getting leeched big time! I only use 1 Air Tag.

I welcome me and hello to all.

Of course i have the same issue and it was driving me crazy not knowing where it came from. It is my airtag, and yes i have it on my dog!

I haven't realise the drain, i have a new iphone 12 and it lasts a full three days. I have the air tag for a month now and i see the "find my" background activity to be 50% or 60%. Not always. I notice when i run and play with the find my dog, it remains high and keeps climbing. When i force quit the application, the next day is on 10% , the next day on 15% and when i have my phone near my dog the next day is on 30%, if i then open the "find my" it just goes to the roof and the iPhone lasts for two days at most.

The only solution now is to remove the airtag from pairing? Is there a light on the horizon from Apple that they have recognise this as a bug and to hope for a fix soon ?

@addamas, i really don't think that it makes any difference. I have opened some threads especially if people now the issue about the touch sensitivity of apple watch after some update which knock-out every screen protector. you cannot do anything, only if you had the hand detection off (or it was out of your hand). Anyway never got a reply, never got a fix beside the +100 users reporting the same or other threads on the apple community.

I think the only way for apple to fix something like that (something trivial for them, not a security issue, a UI fix or battery drain) is if it becomes some how viral or media attention or something like that.

Just count how many threads open up on each firmware update about battery drain. EVERY TIME.

@addamas @great_vc Actually, while I'm sure Apple has some employees participating in their forums, you really should be using the feedback assistant on your iPhones for reporting issues to Apple.

Just do a pull down on your Home Screen and use search to find Feedback. If you don't have the app on your phone, you can go into Safari and navigate to apple.com/feedback

yeah, can you image the TONS of feedback mails they got ! some of them goes to the bin automatically i'm sure.
so i really thing that only some viral influencer (for god's sake) or something can push them.
