Did the whole remove and reset to new just now. Gonna leave the tags un-connected and see what my FindMy app says tomorrow. Then I will re-connect my airtags and see what it does. Crossing fingers!
Thanks for the post @akash.nu

I actually found that if I turned off the find my if offline setting, i dont see the find my app draining battery anymore, even with Airtags.

Woke up this morning with only a 1% usage on the FindMY app opposed to the previous day of 29% usage with Airtags installed. Gonna give it a few more days and see how it goes, then I will re-connect the AirTags and monitor usage again. So far, looks like AirTags may be my battery issue.

That’s normal. After I disconnect the airtags my phone went normal again.

Seems like my solution is not working, ended up removing the Airtags altogether until Apple gets it together and fixes this problem. Its annoying.
unfortunately from all the feedback sent and calls from "genius" staff they don't even acknowledge the issue. So i will probably end up selling them (2)

I simply cannot understand that my iPhone 11 works perfectly with a one simple tag but my iPad 2019 goes crazy with the battery. battery drain is always %100 and it’s a huge bummer still today.

has anyone tried ios15 beta to solve this issue? I mean I’ve read on this topic but especially on the iPadOS has anyone tried it?
I don’t want to close my find my on my iPad just to solve this problem but I don’t want to drain my battery this fast too. What are we gonna do about it?

What are we gonna do about it?

nothing more than i couple of hundred of thousands people to report this as an issue in order to be taken seriously. :)

i would love to have this permanently on my dog but know that cannot be happen (although companies have made special collars with an airtag case attached). But i will probably use it occasionally when needed on vacations or trips.

Specially for the Greek islands and ferry boats, try to find your car on the boat in three parking decks :D

just to see if anything changes yesterday I downloaded iPadOS Beta. Seems like the problem is still there. I've given a feedback about it this morning also but I guess we should hope by the public release they can solve this problem.

Other than that iPadOS Beta works really good I'm surprised. 😂

I bought a 4-pack day 1 shipped to me. Set it all up on IPM 11/12 both models have battery drain issues with the airtags. I thought it may be a faulty tag so I set up another one from the pack and the findings are the same - battery drain on both devices and even on my 2021 iPad Pro 11.

Disabled find my network and yet still draining issues. The only time it does not drain is when the airtag is NOT within the range of the IPM devices. Otherwise if it's next to it I will see the battery log show find my app using 100% and randomly at 30% - 100% when the IPM's are sitting idle throughout the night on the nightstand.

In the end after a month of trying to fix this (even with iOS 14.7) it doesn't seem to be fixed. So I ended up just deleting the airtags and not using them. Will come back to them in iOS 15 and see if it does fix any problems. Hardware is the newest firmware 1.0.276.

same problem … 4 airtags..12 promax and 11 ipad pro , both on 14.7.1
airtag firmware is latest (1.0.276) in my case, turning Bluetooth off seems to stop battery drain , but of course this solution isn’t without its shortcomings..
also now notice one of my tags chirp at me when i pick it up ,it does this once each day..i believe apple now makes them chirp if disconnected for mire than a day ? But my other tags dont behave this way… also, they are never disconnected from bluetooth for more than 24hrs..

another workaround i was thinking about is to Create and register the airtags under a second apple id… 97 % of the time you know where your stuff is and when you dont its usually in relatively close proximity … so only sign into the 2nd apple id when needed.. again, not a perfect solution, especially if item is truly lost …only other choice is to shelve the things until Apple decides to fix, as suggested by Jamie

Did you put the airtag that's chirping onto another Apple ID? It's been reported that the window that AirTags start chirping when they're separated from their owner may have been shorted to as little as 8 hours.

It appears this is a "corner case" that no-one has been able to isolate yet - no-one knows what causes it - and some have had some success by un-pairing and re-pairing their AirTags.

The best that people can do is continue to use feedback - either the app or the website - to send their information to Apple - hopefully if the developers get enough reports, they can isolate where it's happening and effect a fix.

For the last few days my Find My app hasn't even shown up in the Battery Usage. GREAT. Then I re-instaled one of my two AirTags and usage is up again. 6% as opposed to the 29% percent of before. Better, but still wish it was less. I only re-installed one of my AirTags and not both so don't know if that would make a difference or not. But clearly, AirTags do use up your battery.

Thanks, no i havent tried setting up on an alternate apple id yet …i have removed them from the find my app , opened them up , take batteries out and reset them.. they behave for a day …then its back to battery drain city… the iphone and ipad are obviously pinging the airtags incessantly , thus causing the drain… hopefully this is a glitsch , otherwise a silly design goof imo..i dont need to have the location of my keys and other stuff updated every minute.

ive left feedback at apple and posted the issue on the forums, no meaningful responses..a quick search reveals that this is affecting a big chunk of users.
some battery drain is expected , but not 38% of daily device use in 24hrs when the devices other usage is moderate to heavy

Looks like my situation is no better either. Here’s what I had last night and the red marked battery drainage is only due to Find My and it’s background activities.

Wow kinda ridiculous, just keep sending feedback to Apple. I bet its due to the new firmware that they released. The older firmware had no such issues.

OK, this is ridiculous. Overnight battery drain 30% from FindMy alone.

Had another chat and call session with Apple & now they want me to connect the AirTag with another device and see if the issue persists. I know it will persist. Going on a wild goose chase here.

Likewise , called Apple and after a painful 2hrs and 3 diferent associates nothing resolved.. plus they created another headache for me..im sure these folks are very nice people and well meaning , but they havent a clue…one of their associates actually tried to justify the deficiency because it is a new product…as if we are responsible for beta testing after paying good money?.. so they offered to replace all 4 airtags , but instead see now they are only sending one, and after i had to pay again for a none return fee.. i decided i didnt want to waste any more of my life banging my head against the apple wall and politely expressed my displeasure .
honestly im not sure that replacement airtags woul d resolve the issue as i believe this is an airtag firmware issue or ios bug specific to certain devices…whatever it is , clearly the testing before these products and updates are released sucks.. but then thats just the way the world is now , isnt it ? Rant over !

it is not the firmware, the problem existed before that. Our main issue is that we can not figure out a pattern or way it is happening to 10 people and not 3.

Honestly i agree with @JOLLYO65 , they will never solve this or acknowledged it , like the screen problem with the appe watch and the protective cases after a firmware update.
