is anyone aware of this ? Or fooled with it? Apparently a secret menu to adjust airtag parameters including batter saving settings .. the articles ate about 3 month old now and references ios 14.6… im on 14.7.1 and tried it , but doesnt seem to work any more… very interesting though ! Read about it here Similar article here

I simply removed my airtag, turned off find my feature (note in more than one place) and my battery life just doubled. I have used my phone as normal and after 40 hours I have 43% left. Next I travel I will reactivate Find My, connect and put airtag in suitcase. Until then it will remain off.
I now have the battery life I had in 14.3 with my iPhone pro max lasting more than two days!

Heads up - try to have your AirTags within range of your iPhone for a few hours tonight to make sure the update is pulled down and pushed to your tags.

THANKS! Hoping this might do something about the excessive battery drain from the Find My app.

That's all you can really do - make sure you get any firmware and iOS updates you can - hopefully they eventually find the race condition causing the battery drain.

Edit (next day) - it seems Apple is limiting distribution of the firmware update - mine are still on 1.0.276 this morning, despite being in close proximity to my phone overnight.

I won't be suprised if the update was pulled by Apple.
Yet to see someone claim their Airtag updated

Same here. No change, still on v276.

I was going to get a lot of people AirTAgs for the Holiday Season but now I think I would be doing them a disservice.

Well, it seems like a "corner-case" issue - if it was wide-spread we would be seeing a lot more activity in this thread. (and, no, that doesn't make things any easier for those users plagued with the battery drain issue).

Possibly true, just not willing to subject anyone I know to potentially being a "corner-case".

I’ve been seeing the same issue ever since I setup my AirTag. Even tried unpairing and resetting but to no avail. It only uses about 5% in the past 24 hrs but it keeps running in the background all night long.

Same. When I had two airtags it was running 29% use in the background. I really felt the need to delete at least one and now it's running 14% in the background. I actually own 4 tags but definitely will not install them until and *if* they fix this because it's totally unacceptable. This is on a 12 Pro Max.

It was using 29% in the 24 hrs prior? Or was it just the hourly usage?

Same problem here with iPad drain due to background activity of Find My app. I do have an airtag.

By the way, Find My has got to be one of the worst names for an app. Good luck finding a thread while googling “Find My battery drain background ios.” All you get is a bunch of articles about how to find the settings for background app refresh. I’m surprised I even found this thread.

Try putting just "Find my" in quotation marks, not the whole sentence. It will probably help.
