Ektachrome have you fitted anything yet? success?
Sadly not - was just beginning the process of backing everything up before ordering/installing anything when my MacBook started randomly shutting itself down. No warning, no crash logs on restart. Never done this before in nearly 8 years of ownership.

Trying to resolve with Apple Support with no success so far. Passed Diagnostics and First Aid with no problems. Next step is to try and complete the backups and erase/clean install the OS. Hoping it’s software and not the dreaded logic board problem others have had. To be honest that would probably write off the laptop at this stage, as the cost of a LB plus SSD upgrade would be a significant chunk of a new one.

Will report progress.

@maxthackray , Thank you very much, Just upgraded to EVO 970 Plus 512gb and everything works fine thanks to this great thread.

Below are my numbers, Big Sur 11.2.3.

Hello Guys!
One question:
I have Macbook Pro 2015 13" with Adata SX8200 Pro 1TB with Lilu, NVMeFix and PPMssdEnabler running very smooth and with low battery consumption (0.03A idle). I'm on Big SUr 11.2.1.

What shout I do when I want upgrade to Big SUr 11.2.3? Should I disable Lilu, NVMeFix and PPMssdEnabler first before upgrading? Or can I update without any problem (with Lilu, NVMeFix and PPMssdEnabler enabled?). What do you recommend?
Thank you

Nothing, just upgrade :)

You might need to reinstall the KEXTs afterwards, but so far on my machine they have persisted through BigSur updates.

Crucial p2 is best choice.

good evening everyone ... I apologize if I write badly in English.
i have the following macbook:
macbook pro 13 "early 2015"
ssd128gb
macos 10.15.6.
reading the first page and some I realized that I have to take Sintech adapter - Adapter card for SSD NGFF M.2 nVME and as ssd crucial 500gb p2 (thanks to the post. on the front page).
can i proceed with the purchase? or could you recommend another SSD (always 500gb) while maintaining the right performance - consumption - battery ratio?

thank you so much

Hello everyone!

I got my first macbook (been long time user of iphone but never a mac computer), macbook air 11“ early 2015.

I found this thread looking to upgrade the 128GB hdd, and I can say is awesome all the information here.

My only suggestion for this to be the ultimate guide will be to merge/add:

- Step by step to create the bootable USB
- Step by step of the installation process (partition types, etc.)

But nevertheless is a great guide to select a new ssd! ;)

Here are my numbers:

After
Crucial P2 500GB

I've got MBA 2015 with ADATA 2tb... no issues 6 months. I've seen the crucial has lower power consumption than most but I've not checked it much on this machine.

I managed to buy an OWC Aura Pro X2 1TB SSD very cheap, which I put in my Macbook Pro 13" Early 2015 with 426.0.0.0.0 bootloader and Big Sur 11.2.3.

Installed it yesterday, speed seems good but power consumption is 0,2A according to iStat menues. Do I need to install the SSDPmEnabler kext? Battery drained to 69% unplugged overnight.

Edit:
I just did but still doesn't go below 0,18A

Hy guys. Here I'm again :) I decided to upgrade my Mac with a brand new P2 512GB. All seems good but ask you guys if I have to do some more or it's ok like this. Here is my info:

  1. MBP 15 Late 2013
  2. Boot ROM 430.0.0.0.0
  3. Crucial P2 512GB SSD
  4. Sintech short adapter bought directly from their site
  5. Catalina last update, installed from scratch without restoring any data
  6. pmset -g give me these values (https://prnt.sc/10uupaa)
Can I do more or it's fine like this? Testing my SSD with Blackmagic Disk Speed never give me high number and values vary a lot :(

Hi, have you check your SSD current during idle by using iStat Menus? maybe can install SsdPmEnabler to reduce the current further.

Depending on your storage capacity of the Crucial P2, the performance will be different especially for the sequential write.

I think I finally installed correctly the 3 Klext SsdPmEnabler.kext, Lilu.kext and NVMeFix.kext. Can you confirm me watching the attachment please?

I'm all good now of I have to change some values in pmset config?

My speed test now --> https://prnt.sc/10v8hy2

Hi
I successfully upgraded to Samsung Evo 970 Plus with Sintech adaptor and every thing works fine with Big Sur 11.2.3, I installed Windows 10 ok with bootcamp and everything also works well how ever because I used my Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptor during the bootcamp installation now if I boot to windows 10 without the Ethernet adaptor attached I get a blue screen and windows reboots.
Please advise, your help is very much appreciated as I need Windows for work.
Regards

Crucial P2, Sabrent Rocket and Corsair MP510 best for energy saving.

try reinstalling it without adapter. Try RefindPlus without Bootcamp.
