If it's got FaceID along with all the rest of the pretty much confirmed rumors it'll be the biggest release for a mac computer in just about forever. I doubt we'll see FaceID and if they dumped touchID for FaceID I wouldn't be happy, but if it has both, that'd be awesome. I'm sure FaceID will come, but I think that's next year.
As for a surprise feature not yet mentioned, Remote control? or the smart keys that were briefly mentioned a few months back.
Certainly not impossible given its age, though an underwhelming Intel bump seems more likely in the early part of this year (and that raises the spectre of no M series MBPs until October/ November again )Our local premium reseller is having hard time getting MBP 16's from Apple, they are out of stock for weeks. I believe we'll get something new in March.
I don't think so. This is what Marc Gurman published on Nov 2:Certainly not impossible given its age, though an underwhelming Intel bump seems more likely in the early part of this year (and that raises the spectre of no M series MBPs until October/ November again )
Of course anything is possible, but I believe Apple wouldn't leave its best laptop still beaten by the cheapest one on several levels.Apple and overseas suppliers are ramping up production of three Mac laptops with Apple processors: new 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and a new 13-inch MacBook Air, according to people familiar with the matter. Foxconn, known also as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., is assembling the two smaller laptops, while Quanta Computer Inc. is building the larger MacBook Pro. The smaller models are further ahead in production and at least those two laptops will be shown at next week’s event. Beyond the processor switch, the devices won’t have significant design changes.
I suggested the same weeks ago and someone reply to me that Gurman was wrong and that third machine was not a laptop but the Mac mini.I don't think so. This is what Marc Gurman published on Nov 2:

I think that refers to the M1 macs that launched on the 17th Nov (i.e he was wrong about what was launching th that time). The last I heard for the 14/ 16 inch is they will be a complete redesign with more ports and launch in H2 2021. H2 could mean as soon as July, but if the 16" gets a chip bump this month I think that makes a summer debut for the new models less likely.I don't think so. I can't imagine they just do an intel bump this year for it. Would be embarrassing and a waste of time/effort. I guess if they are running behind on the M1x or whatever chip it's not so difficult for them to simply swap intel parts out though if the manufacturing is otherwise the same. Does intel even have Tiger Lake H chips yet though? I don't think so?Certainly not impossible given its age, though an underwhelming Intel bump seems more likely in the early part of this year (and that raises the spectre of no M series MBPs until October/ November again )
It's mostly the fact the leakers are now saying H2, that could mean as early as July or as late as November again (waiting for M2X?). I think there's some 35W Tiger Lake parts on the market now (I think a reaction to AMD?), but I'm not sure about the full 45W parts. The MacBook Air and MBP got Intel updates in the early part of last year before getting the M1 in November, so I would think a March chip bump with Intel for the 16" would look bad for a July M1X debut.I can't imagine they just do an intel bump this year for it. The base 14" won't be $2800. It will be in the $1800.00 range, in my opinion.Who else seriously can’t wait for the new 14” MBP my only concern is cost. I’ve got $1,400 Stimulus but it’s gonna be double that right ?
Is that with 16GB RAM ?The base 14" won't be $2800. It will be in the $1800.00 range, in my opinion.
The iMac Pro has been discontinued. The plot thickens. With all of the rumors that circulated last fall, I thought for sure that Apple would have a March event where they would unveil Airtags and mini LED display technology. It fit with the rumor pattern: 12.9" iPad Pro with mini LED display delayed until early 2021 + Gurman's report referencing the 16" MBP model + Kuo's report about the 16" model getting mini LED in late 2020 = March 2021 event focal point. It just all fit & I could sense Apple's marketing copy on the invite.
Now with the recent rumors that the iMac 21.5" model supply having dried up, well throw that log into the fire. There were rumors about about an iPad Pro-esque 24" iMac with mini LED floating around. Since Apple likes synchronicities perhaps this is it. Perhaps the 14" MBP model will come later this year along with the updated iPad mini? Who knows!!
For the $1,799 13" model it now starts with a 16/512 configuration, matching the 16".The base model is usually 8GB.
A lot of people commented that was only ever a stopgap while they brought the new Mac Pro to market, it looks like they were right. The iMac Pro has been discontinued. The plot thickens.
I was talking about M1. It looks like you are quoting Intel. For the $1,799 13" model it now starts with a 16/512 configuration, matching the 16".

Agreed. But does it indicate we'll see an "M1X" iMac before the fall? Hmmm...A lot of people commented that was only ever a stopgap while they brought the new Mac Pro to market, it looks like they were right.
I'm expecting the 14" MacBook Pro to take the place of the high end (4 port) 13" Pro, which, yes, is still Intel. Despite the branding, the $1,299 (2 port) 13" model is a completely different computer and always was, even when they were both Intel based.I was talking about M1. Yeah would be nice to see the Apple Silicon iMac this month (?) it's surely going to be one of the most interesting Apple Silicon transitions!Agreed. But does it indicate we'll see an "M1X" iMac before the fall? Hmmm...
You could say the timing is curious but who knows?!
Edit: It should also be pointed out that Apple has stopped producing some of the 21.5" iMac models as well.
Apple has stopped producing 512GB, 1TB SSD iMac 4K models, claim sources | AppleInsider
Apple has reportedly stopped production of the 512 gigabyte and 1 terabyte flash media configurations of the 21.5-inch iMac, which may signify an update is coming sooner rather than later.appleinsider.com
Indeed! Just thinking aloud here, the rumored new iMacs are coming in the same colors as the iPad Air would lead to confusion if there was a space gray iMac that wasn't the Intel Space Gray iMac Pro. Also if the new iMacs are using mini LEDs who would want a poorer looking display in the current iMac Pro with less promising Intel processors? So I'm thinking all signs are pointing an iMac update sooner than later.Yeah would be nice to see the Apple Silicon iMac this month (?) it's surely going to be one of the most interesting Apple Silicon transitions!
i’mSo is this MiniLED display coming with FALD, and if so, anyone got any idea on the FALD number? Yes I know it’s guessing but I’m interested

Come on, matey. You can do better than that. The question was valid and you replied with nothing to do with the question. This is the waiting for 2021 MBP thread, btw! So perhaps you might want to start or find the waiting for the 2022 MBP thread instead of blowing out our candles.i’m
I am so over all this 14” Mini hype. I’m waiting for OLED and M2X and 16GB LPDDR5
I will be extremely surprised if we do not see them at WWDC, for immediate release.Come on, matey. You can do better than that. Anyway, seems people are started to get jittery about the MBP not being release until Sep/Oct. Geez, I hope not. That'll be 2 years between drinks for the 16 basically. Surely we get them in July.
