It would be awesome if the 14" were lighter than the 13" MBP....we could see both the 14” and 16” being a little thinner and lighter than the models they are replacing.

Speaking of performance, there is a new leak saying the 32 core GPU will be exclusive to the 16”. Apple has also put some new thermal tech into both models which should help them to stay cool and quiet.
It's certainly possible... but would it be economical? It'd be a much more expensive option, so it depends on whether Apple can make the sums add up developing a whole new architecture just for the higher end chips (which are going in much lower sales volume machines = even less economy of scale) vs whatever benefits they get from a custom 'pro silicon' architecture. Why does everyone seem to think that the new chip will be an m1 derivative? I know that it is a lesser possibility but the chip can be named n1 or something and represent a different architecture, maybe incorporating lpddr5 ram and a faster ssd in line with the newest pcie-4 offerings. These are also being discussed in the forum but now that everyone says specifically m1x, feels like I missed something.
You‘re right. The way I worded above question was a bit open to misunderstanding, I acceptIt's certainly possible... but would it be economical? I see, sorry for the misunderstanding - As to your point I really couldn't say. Apple's chip team seem quite watertight on leaks (I'd imagine it's an ultra-priority category for preventing anything even remotely resembling industrial espionage) so If Kuo has nothing to say from the supply chain side, it might well be the first time we get that info will be on stage at the launch event! You‘re right. The way I worded above question was a bit open to misunderstanding, I acceptI was trying to ask whether there was a news indicating m1x is at least 99% coming, or it‘s still the same arguments. There’s nothing wrong to expect an m1 derivative of course, this seems to be the most logical way as you well pointed out. The rumors implied that the chip was ready even at the time of wwdc, but mainly the problems about the mini-led panel production caused a few months worth of a delay IF the rumors are true. Still, uncertanties require to leave the gate slightly open to a different chip. We’ll see. Hopefully soon.
You´re only setting yourself up for a huge letdown.I'll buy it as long as it has a 1000 nits display for working outdoor comfortably. I'm tired of staying at home all day for smart working.
If the iPad Pro is anything to go by that's actually not an unreasonable expectation. With the different aspect ratios the 12.9" iPad display is not far off in area to a 14.0" 16:10, so scaling it up shouldn't be a problem, at least for the smaller model. You´re only setting yourself up for a huge letdown.

I’d imagine that it’s in an Airgapped network, mantrapped entrance and exit, highly monitored employees, document sign in and sign out process, large AUPs, strict ‘need to know’ and least privilege, no remote access, etc.I see, sorry for the misunderstanding - As to your point I really couldn't say. I'd rather it not be because that means they took advantage of the space with a larger battery. It would be awesome if the 14" were lighter than the 13" MBP.
Probably not in Aug or Sept. Oct or Nov most likely. Still a ways out. My 15" MBP (Late 2013) still works great but I wouldn't mind getting a new shiny.Guys, what't the current ETA?
(one of my MacBooks stopped working and I need a replacement, but can wait a bit)
Currently, one of the top leakers (around 85% track record) is saying late October. Other analyst have reported a wider window of October-November. Either way, we are looking at 3-4 months. Although as WWDC has shown, the leakers can definitely get it wrong but in this case, the release window certainly sounds correct.Guys, what't the current ETA?

I'm hoping because it has taken the so long to get these machines out that they'll be ready to rock n roll within a week of the announcement.Judging by the iPad Pro and 24” iMac launch, if they announce it at an October event, it will probably ship within the first couple weeks of November.
Too be honest, this could be classed as 2nd generation. It’s a took a year longer than the M1 to be released, that’s normally a complete cycle in Apple world. Additionally, I’d expect Apple would have made architectural improvements to it.I really thought I would wait for the second generation. But this release takes sooo long that I will get the first.
