But we don't know if the mini LED screen is going to cost more, erasing the cost savings of the touch bar.
100% the mini LED screen will cost more. As well as the new design so production costs will be more to start off with. Any savings from the touch bar will be lost due to new design and mini LED.
Plus we'll probably get Apple's delay tax or whatever it'll be this time. I expect these machines to not be cheap, but not be too expensive like the Apple headphones max or whatever they are called. Expensive but not ultra expensive.

Yea, agree with others, I think Apple will use the higher cost mini-led screen to justify the price increase.

Also in this potentially inflationary environment (still remains to be seen, and for how long, but a possibility), I would imagine Apple will want to raise prices a bit, and use the screen as a reason to do so a la 12.9” M1 iPad Pro.

Yes, of course, but apple will reduce cost with the chip and the Touch Bar, so I think they are not going to rise the price of it, the price that we have on intel MBP’s. So maybe, 2399$ or less for the 16” it’s my bet

We can really open so anyway.
The prices has really climbed up this last decade, at least in my country. The dear MacBook Pro (15”) I bought costed me about 1700USD, this was in 2009, if I want to buy the cheapest MacBook Pro 16” today I have to pay just over $3000USD, (prices are including tax) and I reqlly believe here is a limit for how much regular people are willing to pay for a laptop these days, since the have their phones which can do most “regular people”-tasks but for those that want a real computer for slightly more advanced operations I’d assume the apple computer hype has started to cool down, it’s no longer as much a status symbol for people to sit with a Mac vs a competitive-company computer such as HP etc since Windows/PC- computers have caught up a bit and stopped making those awfully looking computers and taken more than a few design cues from Apple…

So what I’m saying is mostly that people between 15-30 years old might not as often as before be willing to pay 3-4 times as much for a Mac as they would have if they bought a Windows-computer. This is of course only my experience and I’m living in Europe and I guess Apple has always been bigger in the US. I just feel that 5-10 years ago people really wanted Macs if they wanted a computer and wasn’t planning on using it for gaming but these days people more often just want to get a good PC for a decent price and maybe they don’t care that much about what others think / understands they won’t be more successful just because their computer is a Mac.
I’d assume most people that I talked about above will probably go for M1 Mac-models since their prices are rather great and performance as well so if Apple is satisfied with that they don’t have I worry much about too huh prices on the new Macs.

Oh the other hand companies around here seems to have understand how great Macs are and are more often buying Macs. So maybe Apple sales won’t suffer because they raise prices but I feel my limit is soon reached (unless I start making a bit more money with it so that I can afford the luxury of having a Mac… because for work, the company that you work for supply all employees with computers around here, this is true from consultants as well in most cases), if they just offered more fair upgrade prices it wouldn’t be such an issue for myself at least but paying about 4000USD for the computer I want with the specs I think I’ll need for the next 3-5 years is kind of mad. Now with Apple Silicon I hope I’ll feel better about it though because the heat/fan noise always made the purchase feel like I was “skipping corners” for what I really wanted/needed, unless I went for the Mac Pro which was never something I could afford anyway.

So let’s hope Apple will lower the prices of the MBP… though I haven’t got my hopes too high because it’s Apple we’re talking about here. Next best case would be if they at lesst start to offer storage and RAM upgrade for a fair and decent price. Most likely is that prides stay the same.

With what the MBA offers on the lower end of the scale, I would really doubt that.

Yes, me too, I think I mentioned it in my messy post as well (I do. however understand if you missed it, since I can’t even be bothered to check it myself due to it's messiness… maybe I should spend less money on drugs and instead save more money for the new expensive 16” MacBook Pro… haha).

Anyway. If Apple doesn't mind even more people moving towards the MBA since it will stil be their customers just through another product then I guess they won't care and will not lower the price fot the 2021 16" MBP.
I just feel I can't be the only one feeling that it really hurts to spend the extra 2000 USD for the 16" MBP when the M1 MBA has 85-90% of what the 2021 16" MBP1 are/have (we don't know what the 16" will have yet though I'm just speculating av bit for the sake of making a point) though I guess that since, at least for now and how they seem to be for the near future, the MBP16" is the only option if you want a bigger screen quite a few customers will go for it.

I wish I had more hope for a lower price but it really feels like I've never had any luck with Apple regarding price drops and announcements and I truly mean never. They did lower the price for the Retina MacBooks 2 years later (?) but I remember that at the time it really didn't matter to me.

Most people don't need a 16" MBP to be honest. The vast majority of the regular public who don't use a computer for work need nothing more than a MBA M1. Unless they want the bigger screen that is and then they would just need to get the cheapest iteration of the 14 or 16.

The M1 MBA is a great piece of kit and next year's M2 colorful model will be the killer version of it. I think if Apple keep the price down for next year's model it's going to sell like crazy.

Will the M1X have ARMv9?

My guess is just to get a reaction and attention.
I'm saying there's only going to be M2.

They migrated the A#Xs to M1, M2, and they have other SoC of AppleSilicon they have to work on. (i.e. Watch, AirPods, etc)

Those are WHOLE chips. The M1X would be an entirely "knew" architecture or "shift", they'll get there "maybe."

We "might" see M2X, but I am thinking that's the earliest, I would say M3X, all after M2 and/then M3 respectively...

Really? 2022 for a new 16'' mbp?
I doubt it, but if it did turn out to be true Apple have completely 💩 the 🛏️ with the 16" in this transition... For what is their most expensive mainstream Mac, 24 months is already a very poor update interval. Going beyond that would get ridiculous.

Given that Apple’s space grey peripherals have been discontinued, what are the chances new MBP’s will only come in silver?

that’s me. Only need a large screen and lots of storage. My 2013 MBP is plenty fast. I wish Apple would release a 16” Air
