Whether the difference in chassis TDP capability is really that large, I don't know (I doubt it), but there's like a full decade or more of precedence for the bigger MBP to be significantly more powerful than the smaller one.

I really hope this is coming to an end now. After six years of using a 5K iMac as my primary computer I am now going mobile only, and I really hope I can do this with a 14”. I also really hope there is a new 5-6K display to go with the new laptops.

I am sure the 16" will have more graphics cores purely because it can dissipate more heat

Finally October!! First milestone will be October 5th (just 4 days away today) as a possible invite date for an event on October 12th. The 12th would be somewhat early in the month (I’m betting on the 19th or 26th).

That was the invite sent to the media for the October 14, 2008 event. It was sent on October 9th. This is when we got the unveiling of the unibody design. So mid-October has been used in the past to introduce new MacBook Pros.

God I hope not. They had never done a November event until last year.
And only then because the iPhone announcement got delayed into October.

All iPhone, watch and iPad announcements (that were otherwise imminent that is) have been dealt with. Apple are heading into some very clear air right now.

It would also be fun if Apple were to have a proper product release, with plenty of shipping units and mature reviews, well before Intel's Alder Lake comes out.

Here's to Alder Lake being DOA :)

EDIT: OK, Alder Lake probably will be good. But I can't forgive Intel for close to 10 years of stagnation and 5-10% year-year gains. I have no doubt that if not for AMD's Zen and Apple's in-house efforts, Alder Lake would be yet another iterative rehash.

I think some Apple Store insiders like L0vetodream already knew the event date and shipping timeframes but he’s not revealing anything anymore

What is the guess on the wait for BTO? Last year I waited about 6-7 weeks for a M1 MBA, but that's because I didn't order straight away.

What's the usual wait time on BTO if you order as soon as it goes live? I'm guessing 2 weeks...
