As much as it might suck, don’t be surprised if we don’t get invites today or even next week. Today obviously marks the passing of Steve Jobs and seeing how Apple has dedicated their website to his memory, I really don’t think they would risk announcing an invite to a very highly anticipated product and distract from their memorial message.

Next week (the 12th) could be a possibility but realistically, Apple will probably use next week to promote the Apple Watch 7 before it’s launch in the 15th. That makes the likely invite day the 19th which puts the event on the 26th (5 years and 1 day from the 2016 MacBook Pro event that launched this troublesome generation). Preorders would most likely go on sale the 29th with shipping November 5th… or it’s also possible (as they have done a couple times before) maybe the MacBooks are actually available on the 29th.

On the bright side, a couple more weeks gives us more time to save because something tells me if you don’t get one launch day, you’ll be waiting a looooong time…

Well Google's Pixel 6 event is the 19th. So that day is out. It might be great to "counter program" but that would be competing in the news cycle & not necessarily dominating in it. The event could also be on a Wednesday too:
Wednesday, October 13th
Wednesday, October 20th
Wednesday, October 27th

It won't be on Thursday, October 28th because that's Apple's quarterly earnings date.

It could theoretically be on a Wednesday, but also note that Apple hasn't held a Wednesday event since September of 2018. Tuesdays have been their product-reveal-date of choice for a decent stretch of time.

True but it does happen. And in fact, 5 years ago, when the MacBook Pro was last majorly redesigned the announcement was on a Thursday. 😮

Yeah, they used to mix the days up a lot more! There was a decent spread of Wednesday and Thursday events for a while, but it seems now they've settled on Tuesdays as the defacto announcement day. I'd love to put an info-graphic together that shows event days over time.

Just thought about the announcement for a few seconds and got downright giddy... Man, I am excited for these.

Suffice it to say I'm 99% sure the new MacBook Pro will be announced before the next quarterly earnings report on Oct. 28th.
That’s a VERY good point!

Welp it’s been a long stretch since the WWDC disappointment but we are finally at the finish line!

On another note, as much as the new mini LED screen will blow us away and the M1X chips will obviously just be ridiculously fast… I’m almost willing to bet that the most game changing thing will be the battery life. We might finally have a pro level laptop that can live away from its charger. My 2019 16” has lived 80% of its life plugged in.

Mine as well & it's one of the downsides of the 16". The other downside to this machine, and it's not entirely Apple's fault, but it gets pretty warm quickly*. Sometimes not even doing anything I would consider taxing. The taxing stuff, like Final Cut Pro renders & the like make it oven hot.

* I will say once I deleted Google Chrome from my computer (per chromeisbad.com) my computer doesn't get nearly as warm as it used to

Pretty sure I just saw something re Mark Gurman saying within the month they'll be released.

As for the event next Tuesday. I'm concerned now with the release of the watch this Friday that we won't get the event next week. Just seems too close. Hope I'm wrong though!

It's basically guaranteed that there will be no event next Tuesday. There would have been an announcement today.

They'll give at least 7 days notice for an event. Yes, there could still be an event next Wednesday announced tomorrow, but bets for next Tuesday are off.
Yes but why? Apple does things in a pattern until they do not. The 7 days notice before an event made more sense when they were happening in a physical location as it gave time to the media to arrange flights etc.

It‘s all virtual now, so they can afford to give 6 days notice. Which is still plenty of time.

And yet all of the virtual events have had 7 days notice still. I’m just saying there can be theories about “maybe they won’t give 7 days notice this time” but the statistical evidence says that they will.

Assuming they simply didn't want to send out invites on the anniversary of Jobs' death, tomorrow for Tuesday 12th seems logical... though having said that Monday would also have worked by the same logic. At this point I just hope we don't get a nasty surprise and it ends up being November again 🤦‍♂️

Is it here yet? :)
Don’t worry you’ll know it’s here by the world wide tsunami caused by the collective tears of everyone at Intel and Microsoft.

In all seriousness though if the M1X really is all it’s cracked up to be (which something tells me it actually might end up even more impressive than just an M1 with a turbo kit) that will send shockwaves throughout the computer industry. Particularly since the M1X will not only show what Apple can do with a pro level chip on the CPU front but it will also show what Apple can do on the GPU front. All with lower power draw and much lower heat. If the M1 was a slap in the face, the M1X is a full on knockout.
