Apple may be cracking down on leakers but I feel like there should be a little bit more a hardware confirmation if the announcement is next week —AND— these things will be shipping as soon as 10/13/21. Like a sneak pic of the configuration label on the box —OR— something to do with the MagSafe adapter. Something. But nada if, in fact, announcement is next week.

My guess is the 26th now. If invites don't go out tomorrow. (I don't think they will.) It won't be the week after next because of the Google event.
Sadly, you’re right. If we don’t hear anything soon, it will be the 26th. No way they’re going to announce at the same time as the Pixel event.

Judging by the 24” iMac launch, Apple has definitely plugged the leaks when it comes to the Mac side of their business. All we knew about the iMac was the multiple colors but all of the other details were a surprise to everyone.

Leaks surrounding these new MacBook Pros have been even more sketchy and unreliable. I truly hope we do see some leaks but chances are, the only leaks will come from the pre-release version of Mac OS. We might be in for some big surprises later this month!

Don’t worry you’ll know it’s here by the world wide tsunami caused by the collective tears of everyone at Intel and Microsoft.

In all seriousness though if the M1X really is all it’s cracked up to be (which something tells me it actually might end up even more impressive than just an M1 with a turbo kit) that will send shockwaves throughout the computer industry. Particularly since the M1X will not only show what Apple can do with a pro level chip on the CPU front but it will also show what Apple can do on the GPU front. All with lower power draw and much lower heat. If the M1 was a slap in the face, the M1X is a full on knockout.
You are right. If you look at the Anandtech analysis of the A15, you see that the GPU in the iPhone is impressive but throttles a lot. I’m very hopeful that put in a laptop chassis and a bit of cooling it’s going to be a beast.

And this is why I don’t listen to leakers, nor rumors on this forum. It’s all over the map now so there’s no point in speculating anything. Just sit back and just wait. It’ll come out when it comes out. I chuckle at all those individuals speculating when this or that’s gonna happen. It’s going to happen when it happens. I don’t worry about it.

That's fine. You don't have to. But some of us enjoy the speculation in this thread.

BTW, rumors never said the event would be announced yesterday. It was always around October. There is still plenty of time to go in October. It's just that so many of us were hoping the end of the school discount for macs would coincide with the announcement of the MBP event. Wasn't to be and that's quite possible due to the Apple Watch 7 needing its moment to shine. Release the macs now and the watch will get buried.

HANG ON!!

Haha... There could be invites sent out this Tuesday for a digital event at Apple next week to announce the new machines! They could then be released this month! At this point it's looking extremely likely we'll get new kit this year.

Of course, if TranceX only wants or needs a 13inch and it sounds like they can get one for free (?? Not sure I understand the money side of the situation), then that is the reason to go for the deal. Guessing they may not be released until next year based on zero intel isn't a good reason when all the rumors point to an event in October and a release date this year.

If TranceX really wants to get new kit, but this offer has tempted them, then that's a tough choice. Does TranceX need a bigger screen etc? We don't really know enough info.

I'd recommend TranceX to wait at the very least until Tuesday this week to see if there is any movement at the station.
I’m still waiting for the announcement or invitations for the new event ;)
As I did tell everyone if you need a new computer now go with the m1 we don’t know when the new one will get here

It should also be noted that in the last event for the redesigned MacBook Pro (Thursday, October 27, 2016), it was couched as the week marking the 25th anniversary of the Mac laptop. So if we extrapolate out — the last week in October this year — will be the 30th anniversary. So it's likelier than not that the event unveiling the M1X laptops will be sometime during the last full week of October (the 26th or 27th).

I’m starting to get a really horrible feeling they’re going to go with November for the announcement again. The 16” Pro was November before there were any supply chain issues, then of course the M1s last year… if we’re still a whole month + out it’s going to be a looong month.

I said there could. Not there would. It's still early October. All the rumors point to an event this month with a release soon after. It's not good advice to buy a M1 computer now if you're interested in M1X. Unless your computer is totally broken and you're losing money as a result or you don't care about any gains with the new machines, it's absolutely prudent to wait.

Remember, this is the waiting for the 2021 MBP thread.

I am starting to think, maybe it makes sense to order one now with the shipping date (Oct 14th)?
Apple will probably just give us a new model if it gets out by 14/10, and if not, I can just cancel my order, no?

I have no idea how that works. I don't know what they would do in a situation like this. Maybe others have had experience doing this?

I doubt we'll see new computers by 14/10 at this point. With the Apple Watch release on Friday, I now think 19th or 26th for the event. Probably 26th with orders on the 29th. Gurman mentioned they'll be released within a month and that was a few days ago. Let's hope he's correct. At any rate, I still firmly believe we are getting new MBPs this year.
