Someone needs to run the location coordinates to originate the location of this beast!

Thank you for running for coordinates. Dang, all the way at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. This guy is legit. Hopefully the announcement is not too far away.
Not sure how legit this is. And further my understanding of Apple Park makes me a little suspicious of that specific location but if they're making the video announcement, I suppose?

It should also be noted that in the last event for the redesigned MacBook Pro (Thursday, October 27, 2016), it was couched as the week marking the 25th anniversary of the Mac laptop. So if we extrapolate out — the last week in October this year — will be the 30th anniversary. So it's likelier than not that the event unveiling the M1X laptops will be sometime during the last full week of October (the 26th or 27th).

Yup - this is a fantastic observation. I would be willing to bet that you’re right. Eyes on the 19th for invites!

It’s probably going to be before the quarterly earnings right? I’m betting $$ on the 19th too now.
I think they generally try to squeeze out announcements before those calls, yeah. Gives them one more thing to boast about; “we’ve been experiencing phenomenal demand for our all-new MacBook Pros.” It all aligns with the Apple Watch release cycle being over, too. I’d arbitrarily say 30% chance of invites on the 12th and 70% chance of invites on the 19th. The other poster’s comment about the 30th anniversary of Apple notebooks is a great one.

Impatient to find out how much these cost. Currently caught between getting a 512/16GB M1 Air on the current education offer for ~£1120, which seems fantastic value, or waiting for the M1X. If the 14 inch starts at £1700 (or preferably even lower but that seems unlikely) it'd be hard to say no to that but I also fear it going up to £2k, which is hard to justify. But of course if I wait to find out I'll miss that education deal...

Unfortunately I'm starting to get a little bit more pessimistic about this :( With all the supply chain issues, the lack of recent rumors, the underwhelming Watch, all the dashed expectations for the iPhone 13, it seems hard to believe that there's going to be a mind-blowingly amazing MacBook Pro coming out. The rumored specs are insane--it will truly be the greatest MacBook Pro ever created by far. But will we really see that this year? I don't know. I'll keep hoping, but I won't be surprised if we just get silence.

(I also sold my 2019 16" MBP, so right now I'm stuck with an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a Windows PC )

Don’t be that worried - yes, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about which day the event will be held on, but there’s very little doubt that the new MacBook Pros will be launching within the next month.

I remember the topic for 2020 mbp. Same doubt was there even though Tim Cook said the first mac with Apple Silicon will be shipping to consumers by end of the year.

I think we will see them this month.

I actually need a new MacBook Pro for the 2nd week in November but it would be nice to have it already for the first week of November…

It’s getting close and I am getting nervous…
but I don’t wanna buy a new MacBook just 1-2 weeks before the new one hits the store…
And even if they announce and release the new one in time I need to be quick with the preorder… I guess exiting weeks lay ahead…

iPhone 13 and Watch 7 are so underwhelming because all their most talented engineers have been moved to the Mac team to produce the greatest laptop ever, of course. It will blow everything away. It's going to feel like a parallel universe has opened. The world will resound in Dolby Atmos, suddenly.

Of course, rumours and hype may also inflate our expectations. That's another possibility. In the end, it will just be a laptop :)

Based on recent rumors I believe we’ll still see the announcement latest by Nov. The Eurasian regulatory filings and leaks of new resolutions in recent Monterey beta prove that the launch is imminent. Whether or not both 14” and 16” will be available at the same time is another question.

My bets are on the 26th. Putting all “leaks” aside, here’s the hard facts:

- The screen resolutions were in the Mac OS beta… something Apple doesn’t do unless the product release is imminent.

- Battery sizes have been registered

- They have held several Mac focused events in October including the 2016 event that started this (horrible) MacBook Pro generation

- Apple has an investor meeting on October 28th. Typically companies will do their big announcements before investor meetings.

- The 16” MacBook Pro is nearly 2 years old… And that’s the only laptop Apple sells with decent graphics capabilities. Not good for investors or customers.

- Mini LED production issues were ironed out back in a July. Since that was the main bottleneck (other than the chip shortage), the months since July would give Apple enough time to produce enough units for launch. Chances are the 14” will be more mass produced than the 16” just due to popularity.

Im sure there’s more I’m forgetting but even without the leaks, things are looking good for a launch this month. Shipping might come first week of November (5th) but at the very least, the announcement should be within the next few weeks.

Indeed it will just be a laptop! IN fact many of us are so hyped for this that I hope we aren't disappointed! Haha.

But, as somebody who now owns the new 13PM phone, it's not underwhelming surprisingly. It's actually a pretty great piece of kit. Only three things let it down: 1. the notch is too big... still. 2. No TouchID or MaskID. 3. the Pro colors are very average. Had we been given 1 and 2 it would have been an absolute machine of carnaaaage!

And, I just ordered the Watch 7. At first I was like you and underwhelmed and then I realised that the leaked design looked kinda ugly and these new tweaked watches do look quite good. Plus the screen is 20% bigger in basically the same size body. That is actually really impressive. My 3 is getting long in the tooth, so it seems a good time to jump on and get almost double the screen real estate.

The last piece in my puzzle will be the MBP 16. Once I nab one of those I'll be set for several years to come. I do wish I'd been able to stagger my purchases but the wife needs a computer and phone so she gets my XS Max and the M1 Air I'm currently using as an interim machine due to my 2013 MBP 15 starting to show signs of ram instability (and as it's a work machine I couldn't risk it).

So while the watch and iphone could be better, I still think they are very solid and better than the past 3 years of releases.

I'm on the same machine and it's showing it's age. I was on a video call that lasted an hour and a half a few days ago and I was lucky my machine managed to not totally run out of battery.

I feel like I've been waiting for these M1x's (or whatever it's going to be called) since WWDC 2020.

Agreed. They made the notch narrower, but taller, so...hard to really see that as a huge improvement. Plus I just never minded the notch much to begin with. I was hoping if they didn't bring back TouchID, then they would at least make FaceID work with masks, but no such luck.

In either case, I have to be pretty hopeful about the Mac because we're getting a new design for the first time in five years and the rumored specs are off the charts.
