Dronus, I wish you lived closer, I would let you take my i5 I ordered and use it until yours came. For all you peeps still waiting, I so hope that it is not another 2 weeks. It is the most sh*ty feeling waiting with no answers. As I explained on the phone to the Apple rep that finally helped me out, even bad news would have been better than no news.

I think Apples total lack of communication with its customers in this process is quite f**ked. I am a long time apple user, going back many many years, and I love their products and especially the OS, but I must say, their order logistics takes it fair up the rear end.

Thanks mate, its all good :) Karma will sort them out :D
Its likely to be at least 3 weeks, 1 week left in November, then 2 weeks into december, possibly another week for delivery - makes it around xmas so everything will be closed and shipping will be delayed due to xmas orders.

At the moment i am pretty gutted about this whole thing. I cant handle people who lie, it is the most disrespecting humans can be to each other. I have been lied to so many times in the last weeks it makes me feel sick..

I considered just letting it go and either cancelling or laying low and waiting for the order to arrive, but thought thats not the aussie battler way.. Just like in "The Castle" im going to fight the basterds...

Yes i got the same constrainment story, shipping second week in december. The lady there sounded like she gave less of a s*#t than the others, which in itself is impressive. Must have been having a bad day/week.

DJ's complaints department started off sounding interested, but after the third time i sent them back to apple they got less and less concerned and basically hung up on me.

I am drafting an official written complaint to lodge with DJ's, and further if i do not get an appropriate resolution. Ill post the contact details for DJ's complaints and board once i have sent it.

This is not fair, and no one gives a crap apart from the consumers.

If Apples objective is to get rid of resellers so that everyone has to buy online, their dream is becoming a reality, no sane person would resell a product that they cannot get in stock for months after it hits the market.

Mate, I hope you get a nice fat compensation surprise. I agree, after watching what you guys have had to go through with resellers, I will never buy through a reseller again.

Last time I purchased gear it was through a reseller, I had no problems, but I purchased a Quad G5, and that s a much narrower market segment than the iMac. Apple should have been more prepared, what did it expect when it drops the price of a machine by $1200 and more than doubles it performance.

Of course their was always going to be insane demand for this gear. Forward planning would have been a great idea, before unleashing this beast on the planet, and pissing off many first time switchers.

Mate I can understand your frame of mind, and would not be surprised if you told em to jam it up the tradesman's entrance, but all I can say, is once you get to use a Mac, and learn the OS, you will never go back. Please hang in there, I am not fanboi, but I do think it is still the best computing experience on the planet today. Even though the order process in this instance is lower than a snakes belly. Hang in there mate.

Cheers for the support! Im gonna hang in there, i really want this imac and even though its been a battle to someone RRP to buy it, im sure it will be worth it.
Have you got yours yet or is it tommorow?

Tomorrow my good man, all being right with the universe anyway. Will keep you posted.

I was just sent to this thread from another forum as I too am waiting for my new iMac i5 from DJ's and getting annoyed that I still do not have it when many others who have ordered after me are getting one (I ordered on the 7th of Nov and know people who have ordered on the 9th and 11th who already have theirs).

I have not called any numbers yet but quite happy to start annoying them about it as well (if enough do it it might send a message).

By the looks of it Apple are looking after there own sales through themselves first and making everyone else wait and look bad. Apple at the end of the day are probably to blame for this and we should be taking it out on them as well (no matter how magical there OS is).

Anyone having issues and getting the run around should post here and we should get a list of everyone who is getting shafted by this. We should all then sign and send a letter or something to Apple and DJ's. These sort of things are best done in numbers I feel.

P.S this is my first post on here and it was a bad way to have to post like this. But I am just so mad at DJ's and Apple for the lack of information I have received and the fact I still do not have my order after nearly a month I had to post. :(

Howdy and thanks for standing up and being counted. What DJs and Apple are doing to us is very unfair and you are correct, we can do something about it.

The root cause of the problem lays with the Buyers at DJs and the Apple account managers. If they work together they can get apple to supply the retail channels with imacs. As Apple has put various parts of the retail channels in constrainment the buyers are just doing what they are told and only telling DJ customers when they officially complain.
Next Byte are part of the retail chain aswell, albeit higher volume sellers. They managed to release stock, and so has a few other apple resellers..

I wold strongly suggest that everyone does post here to let others know of your frustration. In the first instance forget calling apple, they will not help you. You can try calling yours sales rep, but they will regurgitate the misinformation that the channel partner enquires ppl tell them.

If you want to do something serious about this, you can goto the david jones website, and log a complaint. Someone from there will call you back in a few hours asking for details. they are in sydney. As you read above they did speak to the buyers but they would not do anything for me. Be strong here and let them know that you know people are getting them shipped directly etc..

Before they hang up on you, Ask for the address for where to address a formal complaint that will also be forwarded to apple complaints.
You will be given an address (level 7m of some building which i guess is their head office).

If a few more people do this it will send them a signal how pissed off we are about this.

Prepare to write the formal letter of complaint, if you dont know how to do it, take advice from someone who does.. State the facts only, dont get too emotional, etc. Id wait to send it until you have a clear head, or a few days if we get enough ppl calling in to complain.

Anyway, ive rambled on enough, let me know your thoughts.

Well said Dronus, but my advice to all, wait until they miss the November shipping date, which I am sure they will, and then your case has much more weight. As Dronus says, keep emotion out of it, and talk like you expect compensation. As well worded letter, with sound arguments, will get you very far, and may get you compensation. Remember they promised November shipping, if they don't, they are in breach. Maybe someone with actual legal expertise can step in here and correct me if I am wrong. From reading past history, Apple goes to great lengths to make you happy, but you need to get through to Apple Customer Relations, they are the ones that can weave magic, not the call centre monkeys.

On a side note, anyone here know how to move a RAID mirror to my new iMac? On my current machine I have 2 WD external USB drives (1TB) in RAID mirror, done through Disk Utilities.

I am looking for advice on the correct way to move this to my new machine. Do I simply plug them in, and OSX does the rest? The data is very valuable, and I don't really have enough space to copy it all / back it up before I move it. Being a mirror, it is essentially is my backup.

twas I got mine from Garden City as well! :)

I am at work at the moment so I will have to wait until I get home and check with my paper work but from memory it was the 30th as well. I spoke with Ben who works there (I think it is Ben) last week and he said they are expecting a large shipment from Apple this week or next. He did say that Apple waits to allocate them large shipments and this is normaly on the 2nd of 3rd shipment of a new product launch from Apple.

I do not feel DJ's are to blame here I feel it is Apple as they are looking after there own stores and this is a classic example of why manufactures should not be able to sell directly to the public. This is why we have whole sellers and it is also doing people out of work too IMO.

Twas keep me posted on how you get on I will too. ;)

There's the doorbell, my pulse races.............it's the TNT guy..OMG OMG OMG.

Hi Bubbles, I am thinking to buy my i5 on tomorrow's TGI if I can see a generous deduction say over $200. In this way I can also get a free printer valued at $130 and resale it for $75. If I pay it by Amex I also can redeem about $25, Plus around $100 finance cost with DJ. In this way in fact I can save about $400. That's my thoughts now.
BTW, Ben is nice so far though he can not get Imac for us~~

Expecting delivery today I checked my TNT status this morning and it said it was out for delivery in Sydney. Well that is interesting seeing as it was in Sydney 2 days ago before flying to Adelaide.

Apparently if you live in an area outside of a capital city then obviously that must be Sydney.

Anyway, leave for work and about 5 minutes later I get a call to say it had been delivered at home! Yay! But talk about torture! 5 minutes!

Good thing I only work until 3.30! :D

Sorry twas but what is the TGI?

Is that the Apple sale that I think is on tomorrow with there online store?

I am keen to find out more about the deal you are talking about. :)

Holy sh*t, i really had no idea how fricken huge this thing is. I mean, it is just awesome to sit here and look at it. I think I am getting a suntan from the HUGE screen.

It is beautiful, I just never realised until it was sitting on my desk.:D

The best answer for the delay I've heard this week came from my 5 yr old daughter.

"Dadda, they must be making the computers shiny, sparkly and new".

Well, if that's the case. I'll have to wear my sunglasses when I open the box.
