Just a heads up if it ships UPS you will be in for a fun waiting game. I paid extra for the 2-3 day shipping and right off the bat UPS's earliest delivery date is 5 business days from the ship date, and now that its been in their hands for 24 hours it is delayed in shipment. I swear that company is run by idiots. They cant do anything right.

I'm waiting to purchase a base-model 2GHz MacBook Combo Drive after I take a look at 'em this weekend during my trip to the Apple Store. Then once I order it, I've gotta wait until Christmas to open it up. Will be totally worth it to wait though; the anticipation will be killing me. Will also order 2x1GB sticks from Crucial at the same time. Looking forward to my new MacBook! :)

Is anyone else experiencing clunky keys on their keyboard? I few of mine out of the box had corners that were sticking up.

I ordered my mid-ranged MacBook Monday night at about 7:00pm (USA Eastern Time Zone). :apple:iWork '08 and a Brenthaven case shipped the next day from PA and TN. :apple:iWork '08 was delivered yesterday and the case was about 1.5 hours away as of 2:00pm today. My computer has been "In transit" from Shanghai, China for most of the day and is predicted to be delivered mid-day Tuesday.

Is it just me, or is the FedEx site slow when updating package locations? It didn't update the location of my case until almost 4 hours later.

Mine by Purolator hasn't been updated since MOnday. LOL I have an erring feeling that it won't be able to arrive tomorrow, as it was supposed to...

I was thinking about ordering one, are they all shipped direct out of China? Seems like it would take quite a while to get to NY then.

Actually, my sister ordered one of the new blackbooks, and I was tracking it with a delivery widget on my new macbook :)D:D:D) and it got from Shanghai to Michigan in 2-3 days after it was shipped! It went China-Alaska-Nevada-Michigan very quickly...I'm sure it would do the same to New York.

Yeah - Only one that Ive realised - the "A" key is clicking every time i hit it.

getting kinda annoying. Any way to rectify it without breaking it?

When I got to Indianapolis I'll ask about replacing the keyboard.

I have the same problem with the 'A' key as well. It has the most prominent corner in the air among the keys.

It doesn't depend on how far it is. All matters is the shipping method. From China to North America, two days by air. From Ontario to BC, 5 days on the ground... Mine was "On vehicle for delivery" since this morning 6 hours ago, and I still haven't got it.

I'm having problems my number 9 key which is kind of odd. Sometimes it takes a quick double click for the keyboard to register. The A key on my MacBook seems to ok though

After lurking around here for all too long i'm posting in the hope it'll help my frustration in having to wait till wednesday for my new pretty blackbook.

I cannot wait any longer. I've been holding off replacing my very much loved ibook g4 for what feels like a lifetime but at least it's on the way. Though i'm getting a little nervous now, reading everything everyone is saying.

By the way random here, but has anyone had the joy of phoning the apple customer care/order people? I ended up calling them today re them screwing up my tracker number and not only is it an indian call centre but it's an indian call centre with fake american accents! Or possibly robots i don't know. At first i thought I was talking to a computer, it wasn't until they replied I realised that this weird robotic indian/american voice was infact a person, who must of been programmed to say 'yes maaarm' 'i'm sorry marrrm' 100 times in 2 minutes, argh never again!

:apple:

Well I received my new machine on time oddly enough. I had called the apple store a couple days back and spoke to a manager who said he would send Purolator a written message about the error they had made but I wasn't expecting much to come of it. But it must have helped because it came right to my door bright and early today.

I'm pretty pleased with it. I really like the "spaces" thing, it really helps me keep things clutter free. I haven't noticed any of the problems people are talking about on the forums such as cracked cases and unresponsive keys thank god, and I hope I never do. I did notice that M key that looks like an upside down W, which I'm pretty sure is exactly what they did, and I think it looks crappy, that's my only issue so far.

Weee!

I checked at Streetwise, Melbourne this morning, and they said there wasn't going to be any at all for at least another week or two. But I have seen them advertised at other shops.

It looks like Apple was holding on my laptop for a little bit. Maybe they wanted to wait until After the Leopard launch?

Is that the serial number? What does that mean, how can you tell it was built by that code? Mine starts WQ743.

The only fault I've found with mine is that the plastic casing at the left edge at the two screws is very bouncy, as if it hasn't been secured properly (the right hand side is OK.) Very minor, I can live with it.

Coconut battery reports that my machine is 5 weeks old. It already had 4 charge cycles when i received it which i thought was a bit odd.
