Oh please.. even my responding to that idea may be a wasted post ;)

Some of us have beta tested on our real lives for many decades, and it's ok for folks to do so if they're aware of the risks. I am! And I rather enjoy it, and don't regret good beta testing ALL DAY LONG =)))

PS - my favorite beta test was running Kickstart and Workbench 1.3 on my Commodore Amiga, maybe 1985? =) The developers handing me the disks at a meet in Washington DC, wish I still had 'em around for nostalgia's sake. Oh, and yes, I ran it everyday for everything .. hehe

... and to that age-old idea "for testing purposes for developers only," there *are* folks who are expecting way too much from software—and from beta software. Those folks should either go back to paper =) and/or shouldn't let their friends/family convince them to run experimentally stable stuff ...

Damn, I must be one of the lucky ones. Took it off the charger at 3:00 AM, did 45 minutes workout on the Peloton and then an hour of strength training workout at the gym at 5:00 AM with Music streaming from the watch over cellular. It’s now almost 2:00 PM and I’m at 90%.

(yeah, it's friggin HOT here in Boston).

The Ultra has what, 2-3 days battery ordinarily? I wonder if I should unpair/repair for possible fix.. did that help anyone else out? Has anyone tried? (I have the regular Series 8..)

Quite lucky! wonder what is it that drains my battery, but apparently isn't affecting your. Is your Ultra a 1 or 2?

FARK! I keep forgetting Tapatalk is crap right now. Sorry!

I’m was think the same on what could be draining yours and others and not mine.

I pretty much use my watch for two hours of workouts a day. The rest is what you see on my watch face complications. I get notifications etc.

I do have my workouts set to put the watch in low power mode. I do this because I forget to end my workout all the time and it runs all day and burns up my battery. Had it set like this for 6 months or so.

I’m at 63% right now. It’s 7:45. So 17 hours ish from 100%. Ultra 1.

Hm, I'm surprised beta 1 was released like this. The battery issues are universal, and very crazy. I saw Shazam mentioned, so I removed that just now to see if that improves anything at all

My nightstand charger now CRAWLS in charging as well..

If things play out, beta 2 should land next Tuesday. That's the hope!
The battery issues are not universal. My Ultra 2 has had the same battery battery life before and after installing beta 1.

I don’t know about 2-3 days battery even on a brand spanking new one out of the box running a stable public iOS. I guess if you put it in low power mode and pretty much only use it to tell time.

Ultra gets a solid 24-36 hours under normal use. Most people put it on the charger daily at some point. For me, it’s overnight, not into sleep tracking.

You really can’t bitch about issues, bugs, battery drain on a beta 1. It comes with the territory. You should be surprised at nothing and willing to report back.

EDIT - by "you", I don't mean you, just people.

Agree that it's a nice and fresh experience to test out the new softwares - I do tend to wait for the public betas primarily to get the absolute worst initial bugs squashed - Dev. beta 1 is always a big risk :D

can we downgrade from watchos11 BETA? I downgraded my iPhone 15 Pro max from iOS18 and now I can not pair my apple watch ultra to my iPhone 15 Pro max

Another test, ran 45 minutes with cellular on and music. Left phone at home, watch was 100% before run… after 45 minutes battery was down to 10%. Hopefully beta 2 fixes this. 😬

That's insane! Most of my runs are 50+ minutes (without music though) so wouldn't make it through

I have no issues hitting about 2 1/2 days of life on my Ultra 1. I can leave work on Friday with a full charge on my watch and make it til late Sunday afternoon before putting it in low power mode. It's still alive when I get to work Monday morning. That's with the current Beta installed. Probably the big difference is that I don't have cellular enabled right now.

My guess is cellular is the big battery drain. Will try a run without phone and listening to music with no cellular data enabled.

I submitted a ticket to Apple about this issue.

I am noticing my watch doesn't go into sleep mode like it used to. It wants to stay lit up all night unless I manually put it into theater mode.

I normally jump in on Beta 3 or 4 on my 'spare' S7. Not sure I will risk my Ultra 2, though last year I did eventually give in and put about Beta 7 or 8 (i think - it was late in the cycle) in the U1

Thanks to all so far for reporting!
