I'm going to release a $1000 app called "I'm Stupid". If anyone wants to pre-order it, I'll give it to you a week in advance for $5000.

Some apple fanboys are seriously on drugs. Who would pay 1k for a screen saver? I can make that for free on my pc. Smh

Actually, since the image is posted on this article, I just did a screen grab of it and stuck it in my photos There! Now everyone will think I've got money. (Actually, I've donated it all to AT&T.) This could be a breakthrough way to bring high finance to the previously downtrodden -- just do a screen grab at MacRumors and we can all be rich!

Wish I thought of it!

Dude, that's genius. Someone's going to get rich for just drawing a picture.

Mmm...

Morally, ethically and logically it's wrong to sell this application for this price point, especially just for status. Technically and greedily, it's right!

But on every other level, it's just flat wrong!

Besides, someone will buy it or obtain a copy and bypass the FairPlay DRM, then anyone can have this app via jailbreak or something! Or they'll just copy the concept and idea and tack on outragous prices to their apps.

I just don't think Paris and Britney are gonna jump to iTunes for this!

Apple is ******** where they eat!

If Apple keeps allowing this garbage into the App store, they will kill what they worked so hard to create. There are so many terrible Apps, this one is a complete slap in the face to allow this into the App store!

All the crap in the App store is getting tiring and will quickly turn a lot of people off for good.

The iPhone will no longer be taken seriously and will not move into the corp. market once it develops a bad name because of crap Apps.

The best things about this app is:

1. reading all the reviews by people that think it's serious.

2. that there are two preview pictures in the app store and they are both the same picture of the diamond.

Am I the only one that expected a simultaneous release of a free app called "I Am Poor"?

I was expecting a Chinatown knock-off that looks and feels exactly the same
but goes only for $49.99.

It's hilarious, but seriously, Appstore need not be a playground for developer nihilism.

i can already see outraged mommys when they see the bill after their lil kids clicked it out of curiosity

This has been a great thread to read. I love the concept of this silly app and I'm really glad there are so many "goofy" apps for the iPhone -- SimStapler, Bubble Wrap, etc. make it a joy to show off!

I can't afford this, but I will download a free parody app, and I *love* the idea of someone making a knock off ROLLEX-type version. Good job.

Apart for this being funny, it's weird in the way that in Australia this app costs $1,199.99 (apparently you have to pay more for downloading from iTunes down here as well as paying a zillion more for the hardware!)

Also, there is a link to the guy's website with all the pictures - http://www.audio-sandwich.com/

he pretty much gives it away.

anyway, i'm off.

thanks for having a thread which actually made me want to talk! :p

That is totally awesome, and I hate that I didn't think of it first! I am also behind the idea of the knock-off version. :D

The best things about this app is:

Exactly. I'm starting to think the developer did it for other reasons... among possible reasons: just to see if he could get this by and if so, point out that—for better or worse—Apple really isn't censoring the applications, only looking for assurance that it works as advertised and adheres to the store regulations.

Also, imo, this also points out a big problem with the app store reviews: the store lets you "review" an application without even purchasing it. What's the point? I see apps now where folks are writing things like "1 Star —this shouldn't cost $10." Same thing applies here. C'mon Apple... at least indicate whether someone has bought it or not.

I hope someone will release a similar application like this but FREE under the name "I'm not stupid".

People who develops applications like this don't deserve to be called programmers.

I am not playing. I really bought this. Next you guys want me to show you my checkbook?

I think what is even more pathetic is someone trying to actually say they bought it. We all know you didn't buy this so just say you copied it like everyone else is doing. Ive got the icon and the pic too. The only way you can prove this is to show us the info from the i in the bottom corner or show an image clip of the purchase history or the app actually being in iTunes. If you can show us all 3 then someone might believe you.

Haha, all it took to save myself $999.99 was to touch and hold the image on MacRumors and save it to my camera roll. Woot woot.

This App Made My Blood Run Cold

I don't know where to start. I am appalled, disgusted, horrified, shocked, distressed, outraged, scandalized. I feel really bad about this application.
