I haven't touched my PS5 in weeks. We've had some first sunny weeks here and guess the outdoors is more appealing at the moment. @MisterSavage & @Relentless Power, you guys still alive? The whole thread here seems to have cooled down a bit.
I’m still here. I’m a bit disappointed in you.

I sent you over 120 invites to be my friend on the PS5, you never responded. Then on St. Patrick’s Day in March, I sent you like (28) PS5 voice messages in a span of 20 minutes, which it said you ‘read’ all of them, so I’m not sure why you wouldn’t respond. And then you said you would send me your address where I could fly out and meet you, so we could game together. When I put the address into Google maps, it shows in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Nice try. Thanks a lot Blankstar. :D

So I’ve been playing a lot of Microsoft flight simulator on Xbox Series X, and I’m in that thread if you ever venture over that way. Really an amazing title, and it’s the closest thing I’ll ever be to being a pilot in this lifetime.:D

What titles have you been playing?

What is this "outdoors" you speak of?

I just passed the 100 hour mark on HFW and have been pretty much ignoring the main story a lot.

I got Elden Ring but haven't touched it yet.

@Relentless Power send me a DM here with your PS-handle, I'll add you :)
Well…. I guess I don’t know which handle you want me to send you, as I have multiple. But you can choose from the following:

1.) RelentlessBlankstarbesties4eva.
2.) RelentlessBlankstarGamerbros

Edit #1: Sent the invite. I see you haven’t responded AGAIN. I’ve been waiting patiently for the last 8 minutes. (Relentless hits X refresh button repeatedly every two seconds for the last 30 minutes.)

Edit #2: What time is it in Belgium? This is ridiculous. I’ve been sitting here for 6 hours. I have things to do you know. I’m a very busy person. (Relentless Slams Monster energy drink and sits in gamer chair with arms crossed staring at screen without blinking .)

Heyo, new user here. Can't believe the thread is still active given how it's made in 2013. Incredible.

Anyway, I'm playing Dark souls 3 and Forza 5.

Civilization VI + expansion. Closing in on 750 hours on Steam.
And then trying out a few games on Apple Arcade using a free trial. Not too much exciting stuff there for me unfortunately, but I really enjoyed Metro+ and Mini Motorways - Just my kind of games!

Gaaah! Elden Ring, I hate you.

I'm about 80 hours in, level 165-ish, and I'm at Radogon - the final boss. Except when I beat him, there's another boss with a full health bar that I also have to beat, with no chance to recover.

If I lose against that one, it's back to Radogon again.

This has become zero fun. I've lost to Radogon maybe four times, beat him once and lost to the next one because obviously it was the first time I'd seen it and I'd used half of my flasks already.

I know five failures is not much by Elden Ring standards but I've suddenly lost the will to keep playing. My desire to see the ending is being replaced by the knowledge that I'm happier not playing it. This isn't how massive, otherwise brilliant games are supposed to end...

I’m currently playing Final Fantasy X on Switch. Haven’t played it since it first came out on PS2 so it’s been an interesting experience coming back to it after all this time.

I would say I’m playing Elden Ring, but I just realized I haven’t actually touched it in a couple weeks. About 40 hrs in and just past Raya Lucaria. Still enjoying it, just got busy/distracted as usual.

Got PS5 set up, started FF7 Intergrade and Gran Turismo 7. I always start a new account with each new system generation, it appears we will be on this generation for a while. Feel free to add me on Live (Install MOBO) or PS (Install_MOBO).

4 times? Not sure why you lost interest in that. Radagon is super fun to fight. I’ve fought him well over 300 times because i like to perfect fights in my own way with different weapons each time.
Anyway, 4 times is nothing. You don’t learn any boss’s moves in 4 times let alone 20 times. You have to see when to counter their moves with a hit without getting hurt and how many hits you can get in before taking a hit back. This takes trying out different moves for each of his moves over and over. To me that’s the fun in fighting someone you learn them and fight them without making it into a slug fest and you only winning because you have too many health flasks.
Anyway, keep going and get better at fighting you shouldnot be taking much damage from Radagon. Elden beast isn’t a fun fight really. It should of been a second health bar for Radagon. I imagine you haven’t fought malenia because she is way harder than Radagon or any boss in the game. Mohg lord of blood can be super hard for people too.

300 times??? I can't even face walking up those stairs and skipping his cutscene again, let alone actually fighting him. I wouldn't mind seeing the end but the fighting in this game is relentless and just not that enjoyable in general.

I've never been a big fan of bosses in games. I like the ones I can wipe the floor with, because it lets me get on to something more interesting, but those epic wars of attrition... No thanks.

I didn't bother with Malenia as I got fed up of falling off the walkways in the Haligtree area, but I "beat" Mohg by jumping over a wall so he didn't activate. Then I just hit his motionless body for a few minutes until he died. If there was a similar cheesy tactic for Radagon and that Nightwalker from Princess Mononoke ripoff, I'd gladly take it.

I'm a little worried because I'm generally the same way. I loved God of War, but trying a thousand times to defeat the Valkyrie Queen? Hell no. I'm hoping it will be like Demon's Souls where I get super lucky and some great co-op strangers save me.

I mostly left it in offline mode because it doesn’t work properly with quick resume on the Xbox in online mode. Also, when you go online it’s littered with messages all over every object you need to interact with. Spoils the look of it, I think, and the messages are all either spam or spoilers.

I might have to go online and summon another player if I do go back to that end boss. With any luck I’ll get somebody who can beat the thing on his own.

BUT if you're going up some steps and see lots of bloodstains you know to get your guard up! :D

Interesting. The bosses in souls games have always been super fun for me. It’s fun to me to get better and better at fighting them which makes me better in fighting in the general game as well. I’m not a cheese fan or Summons fan. I get a pretty high feeling of accomplishment beating a boss a certain way like no hit runs.
they’ve put replay for bosses in some games like sekiro.
i just have my ng+2 setup on the bosses I like playing the most and I’ll just learn how to fight them with different weapons and replay areas I like a lot. I do a lot of challenge runs.

fighting probably isn’t enjoyable because of how good you are at it. If you understand all the movesets you have and time with practice and getting better gameplay is super fun.
can’t expect to be an expert at anything without time and wanting to get better. It gets more fun the better you get. If all you do is die I can see how gameplay wouldn’t be fun. These games are challenges you overcome and get better with. Definitely not a casual game.
mohg is a lot of fun to fight.

I'm going to to cheese summon my way through the whole game. 🤪 I snuck into Caelid and got the meteorite staff based off of a tip I read. I'm shameless.

I've been staying away from Elden Ring. As much as I like the looks of it and all, i hate repetitiveness (for some reason rogue likes are different) of doing the same thing over and over to beat a section. I am an explorer at heart when it comes to games. I love to look in every nook and cranny but not have to bash my head fighting creatures to get there.

There was a reason I had a 200 run skill in Asheron's Call.

I’m definitely not amazingly good at this game but I’ve played 80+ hours, I’m around level 165, all my go-to equipment and ashes are at max level. I have all the tools I need, and I’m sure I’ll beat Radogon and friend if I try a few more times.

It’s just that I stopped having fun with it. Not sure why, it’s never happened at such a late stage in any previous game.

Something I noticed really early is that it’s a total throwback game. The way the enemies move back and forth on a set path and never deviate as long as you stay a certain distance away, even if you kill the guy standing next to them. The AI is basically nonexistent. It’s like an old 8-bit game in that regard. Although it’s amazingly beautiful and intricate, the whole world of Elden Ring and everything in it is dead, robotic, and largely unresponsive.

But that's exactly the reason why I gave Elden Ring a chance when I thought I would never play another one of these games. If a boss is a nightmare you can usually just go off and do dozens of other things and come back way more powerful. Plus you can summon people to help you. I love exploring too and the level design is just incredible. I keep finding secrets by studying the map and exploring every nook and cranny.
