Sins of a Solar Empire is indeed a very fun game. And if you can't find it in stores you can get it digitally from Stardock.

World of Warcraft
Team Fortress 2
Portal
Warcraft 3
Minecraft
Starcraft 2
Diablo 2
Starcraft
Gratuitous Space Battles(game from app store)

I'm not a pc gamer to begin with, I have most of my fps games on my xbox 360

There are some titles from Ambrosia Software that I really miss, and wish could be had on an Intel mac running 10. Mars Rising, Maelstrom, Barrack, and EV Override were some of my favorites from OS9 days. Now on the rare occasion I get a hankering for a video game, I just go down and use my son's Xbox or Wii.

Update of my games:

I have a question for anyone who knows, has Apple ever mentioned how often would the Mac App store be updated? Steam updates every wednesday, just wondering if the MAS had an update every week or so?

You can play Mars Rising and EV Override under OS X - I have, at any rate.

EV: Nova runs on OS 10 and on Intel. There are plugins that let you play the original and Override using it.

I don't do TONS of gaming. But heres them in the order of "priority" if you will...

Word of Warcraft
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Assassins Creed 2 (and soon to be 3)
America's Army
Crysis
Starcraft I and I'd like to get II sooner or later.
Diablo 1 & 2
Solitaire
Quinn (a version of Tetris)
Thats...about it. LoL.

And I NEED to get angry birds...lol

Mac AppStore updates in real time new apps will appear at any time as soon as the developer hits the button in iTunes. Apple I think refreshes the banners and other marketing images in the store on Thursday/Friday at Midnight (PST) at least for the US store.

I don't game much anymore on my MacBook. When I'm at home I play games on my PS3, and when I'm out I usually take my DS or iPod Touch. But when I do play games on my Mac I usually play:

Minecraft
Civ 4
Portal
Torchlight

Question: How do you get shortcuts of Steam games in the folder? When I try and create a shortcut of the game on the dekstop using Steam it makes it with a Steam icon not the game icon.

Also, SMB is on OSX?

When that happens I go to Users/User/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps and go to either the "common" folder and/or the folder with your personal steam ID as the title and make shortcuts manually.

Thanks, I managed to figure it out after some tinkering and now have a similar layout.

Check this out. Free till 1/31 and it works on Macs.
Takes like 1 minute to sign up (need email) and DL the player.
It's pretty cool. You can like watch other ppl play too.
After that, if you like it, it's $10 per month. I guess you can either buy a game time code at gamestop or something or you can pay with credit card.

I've bought a few 'casual' games via the Mac App Store:

  • Angry Birds (obviously! ;))
  • Flight Control HD
  • Pinball HD (looks really great)
  • TouchFly (just downloaded it, nice little game)

I'm only running an 2009 MacBook, Core 2 Duo 250GB so I don't have the horsepower for the more 'proper' games, like more console games rather than these more iOS type games that kill a few minutes here and there. Still fun though!
