I know AirPods will also show up in Find My but it's not always dependable. I've lost the AirPods, which were inside the case, in the past. They have never shown in Find My since I lost them. I think someone found and kept it. I plan on finding a way to attach an AirTag to the case.

I’ve ordered two, one for my keys, one for luggage. I’m going to be ordering more though, wish I’d have ordered the 4 pack. I could do with one for my work keys and my stethoscope. Not so much for if they’re stolen, more so that if I leave it somewhere. The stethoscope is a big one, even if not pinged by someone else, it will show the last location it was connected to my phone. I should be able to locate the property it’s in from my memory.

For context, I work as a paramedic, visiting many homes/places in a day. In the heat of the moment, I could lose/misplace my stethoscope. just need a way to attach it now.

2) Chickens????? Wow. Now, there's one that I never thought Id here being tracked. But it does make sense. Free range birds?

I don't need them on the chickens...I need them on the hawks and foxes. :)

I came to this thread to see if I could find a meaningful use case. This is about it. I've never really lost anything that merits tagging and yet another solution. I figured these were a solution looking for a problem. Is their need really that widespread and important? Curious.

I wished Apple supported reporting if something is out of range. Example, if the iPhone is out of range of my Apple watch, in case I left it behind.
I think in Robert's case, I would leave my stuff at work and don't realize I left it at work until I get home. I notice there is some notification when the device is not near the owner but notify someone near it??? I think I should read up more on it. Also, how good is locating it when the iPhone owner is does not support precise location? I don't want to upgrade my phone yet for this one feature.
In regards to the phone and watch, the app "Phone Buddy" alerts you when you leave one of those devices behind. Very good app.

I was seriously going to buy a four pack for a few days and after think about it I went with two! One for my keys and one for my wallet. That really all I need.

HOWEVER, in summer I’m going to pop into an Apple store and pick up 2-3 more, it would be interesting to experiment with them. I would like to put on in my kids coats and see how it goes when they go to school or grandparents. See can I track them and if it usable. It mean as long as it come in range of my phone every 48 hours it won’t send out any alerts so in theory it should work! Will definitely pop one in my luggage when I get to go on holiday again too! Really interested to see how you can actually use them and if they will be useful at all. That’s why only 2 for now.
I’m considering getting some to attach to my kids too but I was thinking...

a family friend sometimes picks my daughter up from school. They walk back to their house... will they get an alert to say an AirTag is travelling with them? ?

At one time, as a bit of a lark, as I left the house I would check that I had important items by crossing myself and chanting the names of those items : spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch. I may be able to attach an air tag to my wallet, perhaps even my spectacles and watch but shudder at the thought of using a 4th air tag.

My son called me today (he’s 8) while out playing that he lost his key. This is a problem that will be way easier to tackle once our Airtags arrive.

So that’s one. A couple for my wife who constantly “loses” her things. I’ll probably use one for my daypack, one for luggage. I almost want to have my luggage lost on my next flight, finally I won’t have to put up with the airline’s lies. ?

I have a vehicle that I want to ensure is driven every day. Not as concerned about the location as I am that the vehicle is actually on the road. Can these tags help me?

If you hid one in your car, in case of theft, presumably the thief would get the stalker notification after a short time. Actually, wouldn’t this be the case for any stolen item you tagged, assuming they have an iPhone?
Supposedly stalker alert doesn’t go off until you take the AirTag that is stalking you to your home—as defined in the data on your iPhone. So stalker alert related to an AirTag hidden in a car that gets stolen wouldn’t go off until the thief was dumb enough to drive the car to his home. If you were able to track it en route, it could lead the cops to other stolen goods in addition to your stolen car.

Dogs, even though it's not recommended to use them as trackers. There are a billion Apple devices out there, I'm sure the Find My network will be able to track my dog if they are lost or stolen
Please do not use to track your dog. While you wait for an alert, the dog is dodging cars. Use GPS tracker instead that alerts quickly and tracks dog on its own. I use "www.whistle.com"

I think if you have a pet Airtags would be perfect. Apple should make a Airtags for pet because Airtags aren’t meant for them.

I'm thinking car keys, motorcycle key, backpack, and maybe lock one up under my motorcycle seat as you need a hex wrench to take the seat off my bike. I do wonder though what kind of conditions these things can withstand. We get triple digit heat in the summer, and the bike itself soaks up the heat if it's sitting out in the sun, not to mention the heat radiated from the engine. I don't know how long the air tag would survive but I might find out.
I wouldn't put it on my keys as A) my bike would likely not be stolen with the keys and B) I would hate that flying around in my face as I'm riding. I'm hoping my next motorcycle will use CarKey 3.0 and I can just start it with my Apple Watch. I think I can probably find somewhere under the seat like you mentioned as I put some heat shielding in (Ducati V4S) which makes it a lot more tolerable. I doubt my bike would be stolen as it's in a secure garage in a gated property in an extremely low crime rural area but it would be nice to have that little piece of mind.

It's only $25, if it died it wouldn't be a big deal, if it meant me recovering a $25k bike then it would be worth it. If I had my Ducati at my flat in London it would be a different story, I don't think I would even get insured there thanks to the Police no longer enforcing the law.

To those who are worried about the anti stalking features, I would say that seeing the Apple software department trend, the anti stalking feature will probably come with a bug that doesn’t notify you. They will take 8 years to acknowledge and another two to fix so by then your airtag 1g will be obsolete because we will have airtag 14proXDR-SEmaxLiquid so don’t worry about it, it should be serving the purpose of tracking a stolen item too!

Going to be funny how ppl are relying more and more on machines for critical thinking. If you need this for your car keys and u forget to replace the battery, I’m afraid of the anxiety attach that will ensue on you.

I am going to track this thread with my AirTag. Wait that's Apple's virtual AirTags rumored to be coming in 2022.

The pin I use to attach my mittens to my coat?

My phone is already my keys and my remotes. I started wearing glasses when I was a kid, so I’ve been conditioned into not losing sunglasses. What’s left to misplace?

This seems like a solution in search of a problem, but looking at the number of responders that plan on buying multiple copies, I am apparently dead wrong.

For now, I’m just getting one for my keys. I’ll probably get another later on for my backpack.

Same happened to me. I was on a three day hike in and out and brought the charging case given the length of the trip, and somehow they fell out of the zipped compartment on my pack somewhere on the trail. That Apple offers no way to track the charging case if the headphones aren’t in them sucks.
