Recent leaks are showing same size notch, no 120hz screen, no charger or buds in the box, smaller battery, same size camera sensors, no AOD, 64GB base, lack of xCloud/Stadia and $50/£50 increase in price.

Are any of these reasons you won't be getting the 12 or 12 pro this year?

For me in the UK we already had a £50 increase last year with the 11 Pro starting at £1049, if it goes to £1,099 for 64GB then I'm out because I need at least 100GB and I already paid £1,149 last year for 256GB and won't be paying £1,199 for just a new frame design if these leaks turn out to be true.
I’m voting not enough changes to justify buying one. I have an xs max and it’s still a great phone. I am staying another year. Maybe 13 will be mind blowing lol

The only iPhone I am even remotely interested in is the 5.4" iPhone 12. If for some strange reason it never gets released, I won't be buying any new iPhone.

Same here the 5.4” really has my interest peaked. I may even buy the 6.1” 12 or nothing. This year is a toss up. I was really interested because of the 4/5 style redesign.

For me it will definitely be at least one of the top two iPhones I’ll buy this year. Last year I only bought one iPhone. Now it may be one or two. Just depends on what 5g bands, etc they support AND which carrier has expanded their 5g footprint where I live work and travel. TMobile has been making some noise but it really needs to spread that mid band love faster. But I’m loving Verizon’s UWB etc.

I won’t be getting the iPhone 12, but not because of the reasons on the list. The dealbreakers for me are the same every year: too big and doesn’t have Touch ID.

I’m interested in the 12 Max and the early rumours had it set at a decent price point. If this goes to £800 or above then i’ll do what I did on my last two upgrades and buy a model from last year. Price is the only deciding factor for me and it’s not because I can’t afford it, it’s just I can’t accept paying close to a grand for an iPhone. I don’t think it’s worth it. We do have our pants pulled down on the price here in the UK. The iPhone 11 was cheaper than the XR but only by £20 whereas it seemed to be £50 in most other countries. The Pro models increased by £50 so it’s no wonder they became less popular. Price is key in any market.

I don't know if there's any one thing or if I can even make a list. I need to see the whole package of what is and isn't offered and decide based on that.

I'm pretty much only interested in the 5.4 inch and if it has the 5S body that has been going around. Since it's still seemingly unclear if the 5.4 will have flat sides, the lack of it would be the thing that kept me from upgrading from my iPhone 8.

It’s hard to see where the value is upgrading to the pro line given if you have an 11 pro. Not like the cameras will be a massive step up and with no periscope lens coming for another two years the zoom isn’t likely to improve much either.

with no 120hz and no notch it’s a hard sell for a lot.

I know we may be in a minority when it comes to Touch ID but I just really like it. I was very glad the new SE has it for those who prefer that feature. I mostly use an 8+ so if there is a new SE plus with Touch ID that would be my new upgrade over a 12 this year for me.

I dont think its the minority anymore. Masks are with us for the long haul right now, and they simply work poorly with Face ID.

There are millions of people who are going to go back to work at some point, and have to wear a mask. They just arent experiencing it yet to be on board

There's also no physical reason there can be one version with Face Id for those who want with a notch and one version without a notch with Touch ID (in display likely). Call it a different name. But one tech cant cost much more than the other since theyre both mature tech by now.

I get putting both in the phone wont solve the notch and would be expensive.

Reality is Apple is Apple and all of their devices including iPads use Face ID now so they wont be switching soon. As much as I dont like using Google stuff, and have used iOS since 2009-2010, I may be forced to switch due to hardware choice.

It seems the ‘flat sides’ are a given I’d say. There’s been CAD renders and rumors for Months on this device.

I'm still rocking my iPhone X. I used to upgrade every year back in the early days, then when I had the iPhone 5 I went to every two years, and since my iPhone X, none of the new models motivated me to get an upgrade... And I'm pretty sure the iPhone 12 won't push me over the edge either.

For me, it’s more that I am still quite satisfied with my 8+. Touch ID is proving to be quite the boon outdoors where everyone is wearing masks, and it’s just a very familiar form factor overall.

I might eventually upgrade for the battery life, but for the moment at least, the newer iPhones don’t seem to have any “must have” features that jump out at me and make me want to run out to the carrier right away.
I might not upgrade this year. It will be the first time since 2014 that I haven’t gotten the new iPhone. Unless there are some compelling features I might just stick with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I think I might just upgrade my MacBook instead. I could do both but given the current climate it would just seem extravagant to me to upgrade my iPhone, iPad (already done) and MacBook all in the same year. Whilst I haven’t personally been effected financially I still think I need to to take stock of the situation.

If the iPhone 12 continues with the current practice of making the camera bump larger and fuglier than the last iPhone model, then that is what will stop me from buying it.

I have not bought a new iPhone since the 6s because of this design 'feature' that Apple seems to love so much.

6s the sweet spot so far.
