E6 was anything but boring for me.

Silicon Valley was that way for me in S1 I almost gave up on it, but found it hilarious when the pieces they dropped through the season came together in the last two episodes.

I'm loving Westworld, I think if you like speculative "close future" SciFi, the idea of AI and when it could/does reach consciousness, movies like 2001, Ex Machina, Blade Runner, books like Neuromancer - check it out.

HUGE SV fan :D

I loved him in LA Confidential - he and Guy Pearce were both very good, Kevin Spacey - as usual - was outstanding - while James Cromwell (whom I once had the privilege of seeing live on stage - a super actor) was simply brilliant.
Oh he's made some good other films, but I often find I associate an actor or actress with a main role.
Probably one of the acceptions is Harrison Ford who can make me think of Indy and Han .

Just started season two last week. It's a really good show. Probably my only gripe with it is on what planet would it ever be cheaper to employ a Synth to do low value waitressing or whatever? The cost verses the minimum wage would be pretty astronomical imo.
We hadn't thought of that, you are absolutely right with that thought.

I really disliked him doing that roll in Dexter, not because he did a bad job, but he did not fit my mind's eye of him. He's too good a guy, type cast! :)

It all depends on how you've seen him. Dexter was the first, and only apart from How I Met Your Mother, role I saw him play, and I thought he was extremely sinister, and thus I thought he was a great actor. I think he can play both roles very well.

Watched David Attenborough - "Life On Earth II" - a repeat of the first episode.

The scene of hatchling marine iguanas attempting to run the gauntlet of racer snakes was one of the most extraordinary pieces of footage I have ever seen. Astounding camera work, and superb - actually, sensational - documentary making. Public service broadcasting at its superlative best.

It is truly remarkable isn't it? The hours of footage that must go into each episode.
The next one is on later.

Yep. Thanks.

Decent Brother told me about it earlier, and has just texted me to watch it, saying that 'it is an antidote to Trump'.

So, I shall sit and watch it in a few minutes time; my only dilemma is whether I pour a beer now, to watch wth the programme, or later, when the programme has finished.

But that first episode was stunning.

For those of you with access to BBC, do make a point of watching David Attenborough's new series - "Life On Earth II". This is simply spell binding stuff.

Episode two was broadcast this evening - brilliant and gripping.

I've only, so far, seen the first episode of series 2 and agree with you, it's truly brilliant. It rekindled my interest in the first series and so have just purchased the "Steelbook" edition, something that needs to be very special for me to do. I look forward to watching episode 2 of series 2 tomorrow. As for episode 1, those snakes! The whole scene was like a film in itself. Fabulous.

I love my macro photography but some of those scenes were remarkable. Especially when you think that glass frog was the size of a fingernail.

Yes, agreed.

I get so engrossed in the narrative that I only think of technical issues such as photography, shots, lighting, angles, protecting the equipment in testing and challenging environments - when they show the 'diaries' section at the end.

Absolutely astonishing, yes, how some of those scenes were captured "on film" - or, by a camera.

This lovely Steelbook version of Planet Earth 1 is worth purchasing. Will be also buying PE 2 when it's available.

Well, I bought the book (the original hardback, when it came out - I was still at school, but thought it brilliant, as I had also bought the book of Jacob Bronowski's 'Ascent of Man', and my other had bought "Civilisation' by Kenneth Clark).

Mind you, we never graduated to DVDs; I have only started doing that relatively recently, as I do have a superdrive for my MBA.

Always liked Philip Glenister - a very fine actor. (And yes, I believe that he has a passion fro old cars, too).
I'd have liked to have seen more of the restoration TBH. I had no idea you could investigate who had owned a car throughout its life like they did though (before it all went digital), or that it would be necessary for its value to be realised.

MOTD 2.

I missed tonight's, but I'll catch it on the iPlayer later.

Extraordinary.

Bat versus scorpion.....holding breath without realising it. Giraffe trampling lioness....wow. Locusts doing what locusts do.......positively biblical in its hideously epic quality. (And quantity).

And more male birds as awesome parents - I like this, and here were yet more examples offered than I had ever known of.

An absolutely brilliant series.
