So glad i'm done with micro econ ;)

Micro-economics is fun! I'm going to wait until Wednesday before ordering my a MacBook Pro. If there are signs of shipping, then I'll go for it. If there are no signs, I'll hide underneath my desk and not talk to anyone until I can think of a solution

A prime example of Steve's RDF I think (this whole situation). We get Intel machines which have fewer features (only basic ones) and we still have to wait a stupid amount of time to get em.

By Apple Rep do you mean a part time Apple Store employee!? LOL! I sit right next to an ex Apple Store employee and he tells me time and time again, they are THE LAST to know ANYTHING. :D
Yes that would be the type. :p

Sorry to be off topic but how do i get my picture to show up on the left pane anyways?

You need to have over 500 posts. There is an FAQ somewhere. Now, back to MacBooks :D

just called macmall

I ordered through macmall so i could bump the ram up. Just called them to see if they know when it might be arriving there, and when it might be shipping out. the person i talked to on the phone said that they are expecting them on the 15th still, and that mine should ship the same/or next day, depending on how quickly they could put the ram in. I guess we'll see if apple really hits the 15th date like they are saying, but thought i'd pass this along.

Just called Apple Sales UK (it is in Ireland) and they said "three to four weeks" but there are no reported shipping/production problems. Fingers crossed.

holy crap, never have I needed a valium more than while reading this thread.

I'm also nervously waiting for 15th. I don't mind waiting for a machine that is as good as Apple can get it, I wouldn't like to think I paid £1500 for a laptop they rushed.

I reckon they'll be delayed a bit - call me pessimistic - but not too long a couple of days.

To those that have talked to Apple reps - the reps are hardly going to say "yeah they'll be delayed till march" if "Apple" hasn't officially stated it via email or whatever. They are just doing their job: during the team meeting in the morning, their team leader probably says: "today we'll be receiving millions of calls (not ALL from the same people) requiring info on their MBP, just tell them everything's on track".

Little do they know that Jobs is ******** himself over not having enough batteries or whatever.

I think we should chill, and talk about about summer holidays...

Wait....How exactly do these have LESS features? I feel like it's a trade-off

1. No FW 800
2. No Modem
3. No S-Video
4. Lose a Few Pixels

FOR

1. 4-5x Faster
2. Really Bright Screens
3. Faster Hard Drives
4. Digital Audio I/O
5. Scrolling Track Pad
6. iSight Video Camera
7. Thinner
8. Apple Remote w/ Front Row
9. Really Sweet Power Adapter
10. Much Better Graphics Card

Well.....

1. Digital I/O was in last PB iteration.
2. As was the Scrolling trackpad.

The screen is also wider than before, which I like.

FW800, S-Video, and modem are all still options. (Yes, even FW800 is expected very soon via ExpressCard/34.)

It is a good move actually - third party resellers can build FW800 cards if needed. I'm sure that as technology progressess, there will be DL Superdrives available from a third party supplier by the end of 2006.

Nope that's for a 54 slot not the 34 slot on the MBP. it won't fit.

Sorry if I ask, but what's the difference? :D

I was under the impression that it is a bit like PCI express, where you can plug in a 16X card into a 1X slot (but it will only run at 1X speed of course)

54 stands for 54mm and 34 for 34mm it's the width of the slot.

Err... I just called Apple and they told me that my MacBook was shipped on 2/7? Is it possible I am on a different queue because I am receiving a MacBook as part of a warranty replacement? The dude said I'd be getting a tracking number as soon as the MacBook hits the shores of the USA and is dispatched to an American carrier, but he shows it has shipped.

What. The. Hell.

That really doesn't make much sense. You could track the new iMacs all the way back to the factory in Shanghai.
