Not true, my friend. Just talked to a salesman at the Apple Store Saint Louis Galleria, and they said they should have MBP's arriving sometime next week. That would fall in line with our estimated arrival date, so we'll see.

I said several things in my post...which one is "not true"? Perhaps it's the fact that I'm hoping they are in 2/16-17. If so, OK. I'll take one the following week. :)

The entire point of my post was to share that you could get one at the retail store faster than ordering online now.

They sell Apple computers at Best Buy? Never seen those here, can't even find mac compatible games unless its blizzard.

Err... I just called Apple and they told me that my MacBook was shipped on 2/7? Is it possible I am on a different queue because I am receiving a MacBook as part of a warranty replacement? The dude said I'd be getting a tracking number as soon as the MacBook hits the shores of the USA and is dispatched to an American carrier, but he shows it has shipped.

What. The. Hell.

I was told something very similar the other day! Maybe they are just going to Do a Massive shipment on Feb 15th.

That would be nice. Maybe they will come from distribution centers rather than China. Then maybe we would see them Friday. Who knows.

Sorry to sound attacking, not my intention. I meant the fact that you said Apple Retail had no idea when they were coming in. They seemed pretty confident sometime next week, early next week being most probable, they said. So, that said, I wouldn't exactly say the stores will get them to you quicker than ordering online, it seems to me Monday next week as an estimated arrival for online orders is on the very earliest edge of store arrivals for the MBP.

Apple has a habit of making sure that the Pre-Orders get there the day of or before the stores actually get it unless the stores have it on release date.

guys I ordered mine at 11:07 am Pacific time, i want mine just as bad as all of you do but I think we need to calm down a bit. We have no control of the situation. I have tried to stay away from this post but its gotten so big. it will ship when it ships.

Have you spent the last month computerless waiting for this thing? Well, I ordered mine a month ago and I have been computerless waiting for it. I had to sell my old one to pay for the new one. I know that I have no control over it but I also know that I am going to be spending more money if it does not come in time for my photo-shoot. 3/2/2006 I am having a huge photo shoot. Yes it will pay for the rental of the computer but that will come out of my profits.

ok guys and gals. im new to this business. ive had a homebuilt pc that ive had for the past 5.5yrs and figured it was time to get somethin new while i can still get student discounts on both hardware and software. i decided on the MBP and have read these things several times a day for the past week and a half or so and i still havent made the decision to bust out that 2k yet. what i do know is this:

ive called apple a ton of times, just like the rest of ya'll and havent heard anything of substance from them.

i read a post today or yesterday about someone ordering from macmall so i decided to check that out. i called them and talked to a guy named richard at ext. 4189 and he told me that since macmall was the #1 reseller, they have the first 10,000 MBP from the factory and they havent received anything from apple indicating otherwise that shipping dates in the US would be any later than the 15th, and that if i ordered today, i could have it by the end of the week. instinct tells me that if by chance apple was having a "technical difficulty" they would more than likely inform their #1 customer with at least $16mil in preorders (guessing 20%profitmargin). that'd be a little bit more of a hit than a cancelled order or two from some fanatics on a webforum if they were to withdraw or even cut back their order because of their own unsatisfied customers.

i honestly dont know why more people havent ordered from them. is it something that im missing? they have free memory upgrade (granted a 39.99 install fee), free case, free printer, free graphics pad and more than all that they dont charge sales tax. its cheaper for me to order thru them than it is thru the apple store with my student discount. am i missing something here? yeah, you pay shipping but its $15 max for the same free shipping from apple store. i dont know, perhaps its my own inexperience showing. someone set me straight if im off.

ive also checked macconnection, maczone and microcenter. they are all either very high or dont have it available for preorder.

im not saying that ive found the hidden gem or whatever but its something worth looking at, am i wrong?

You did not get those extras for free but rather paid for them. See, I already have them all. I have a great printer, a drawing Pad, and case. Just need the computer.

yea, they sell them here at best buy in canada.

I too have a little dilemma! I bought a 17" imac core duo at best buy two weeks ago and now i'm having second thoughts about keeping it. After some time....I now want a macbook instead. should i return the imac and just wait until the macbooks come to canada?

Personally I like Laptops and have such high expectations of Desktops that I would rather spend the extra 1000 or so for a lappy when the iMac really is not any better. I would one day get a desktop but it would have to be light speed considering my laptop is going to be really fast. I have way High expectations of desktops considering there are no real tight constraints on power, heat, and space.

I got the iMac Core Duo as a holdover machine til they hopefully build the MacBook Pro the way I want it. Merom mostly, and hopefully bringing back the 8x DVD burner.

They would have to increase the height of the MBP to have a DL burner right now. Just because the burner takes up a little more room. I do not personally know what makes a huge difference in DL and non-DL that the size is different but hey, what ever floats there boat. I personally have never used a DL disk in my life and do not plan on it when I can buy 10 non-DL discs for the price of one DL disc.

I'm jealous, I don't even have a ship date yet??????

I did not pay by credit, but rather a cashiers cheque so I had to wait
for the damn cheque to get there. Sent it Express Post; big mistake
not like I had to rush it eh? (yes I'm Canadian "eh")Aparently I had plenty
of time. But I'm as anxious as the next guy.:) .

Called Apple again (probably # 12, lost count after 6) and I was transfered
to 3 different people, but finally got someone (I think he was a supervisor
cause nobody seemed to know what was going on - think it was
because it was sent by cheque). Anyways I was left on hold in the
morning for about 20 min. and due to the inconvenience I have been
upgraded to Express shipping. So if it is shipped by April 1, 2006 then I'll
get it by April 5th or so.....hee hee;) just kidding. But after speaking with
another rep this evening (probably the nicest and most understanding one
I have ever talked to) told me it is expected to ship on the 21st of Feb.
(order was placed on the 25th) . I am NOT getting over joyed just yet
because we all know how date get changed quite fast, but if I don't keep
optimistic I will lose my mind  (deep breath).

PLease come through Apple, I have to leave to go to school in a 3
weeks. Fingers are definitely crossed.

I'm just hoping for a new 9mm drive that would fit the current size. Anyways, They could of atleast given us 8x burn w/out DL, but instead 4x.

True, I would rather have a faster DVD drive but I do not care as long as I can burn DVDs. That is my main Data Storage source. I download a lot...a lot of Anime. I only have over 500 CDs and about 10 DVDs. I am starting to only use DVD.

God My ship date is the 28th (with 2day shipping) I am pulling for you who have the 15th ship date...if yours is shipped...mine will ship. The Mood of this forum goes from "OMG I'M PISSED" to "OMG I'M EXCITED THEY COULD BE SHIPPING IT ON THE 15TH" haha. This is my first Mac.....and seems to be a lot of people's first. :::crosses fingers toes and eyes:::: please pull through.
