I just checked in at my local apple store. I spent a while talking to one of the guys there who said they are suposed to get their macbooks "in a few days" and "definatley this week." Not sure what that means for the people who pre-ordered, but at least we know some macbooks are being shipped. I also found out that their store sells two versions of each processor speed of macbook , the "base" and the "ultimate" (I.E two versions of the 1.83 and two versions of the 2.0) The "base" with the 2.0ghz is same as the apple website, but their "ultimate" is the 2.0 with 100gb 7200rpm HD and 1gb of ram for 2500 (2200 with student discount). Maybe those people with pre-orders should check in with their local mac store to see if those stores offer a similar deal, and they would be able to get their MBP sooner and cheaper...

I also checked in with our local Apple Store (Atlanta). The word is, Macbooks haven't arrived yet, but are anticipated. They said, they could be on display by the weekend...but there is some uncertainty as to precisely when they'll arrive. I'll stop in tomorrow and see if I can find out any more details.

Even if they were to ship faster with
purchasing of a 2.16 , I really don’t see it being worth the price.
Basically you would be paying lots of $$cash$$ for shipping an extra day or
so and from what I beieve we wouldn’t even notice as a difference
compared to what a 2.0 Ghz. sytem would show (benchmarks).

As soon as the UK store had the 2.16GHz on offer I ordered one just to see how long it would take to ship. I didn't cancel my current 2.0 order though. I figured I'll make the order and then if the 2.16 turns out to have an earlier shipping date then it might be worth the extra cash.

I have a Feb 28th shipping date for the 2.0 order (placed 10th Jan) and got a March 15th ship date for the 2.16GHz. So yeah, for me paying an extra £210 ($300) for a 166MHz difference but with an extra two week wait isn't worth it. If it had said the 2.16 was shipping in the next few days then maybe but I'm not paying extra for a measley upgrade if it means a further shipping delay.

I literally JUST called my local Apple Store (a Mini one, at that) and the guy said that they were supposed to get them in TODAY!!! but that none arrived. He all but guaranteed them on display and for sale in the store by early/mid-next week, if not by this coming weekend.

Anybody know how often Apple Stores get shipments from Apple?

I concur with alienex...chill out, man. Give 'em a call, and I'm sure they'll try to help you out.

Thanks for the info regarding when the stores get shipments. Happen to know what time of day?

I got that a couple days ago as well, I believe i posted in like pg. 8 of this thing? lol But they said then and today they should get them in soon. That they shipped Tuesday (yesterday) but were not sure exactly when they would have them, I'm betting by Friday they will be ready to sell, thats down in Houston, TX :D

Yes, but that was before (right?) Apple announced that they were shipping, so there's a strong possibility that they may be coming in to Apple stores in the very near future.

Now if only I could get there before they all get sold out...

Before and after, they said they did not think it had changed because of the announcement. A few days ago they said Friday or Monday, but yesterday they said they had been shipped that day.

But yes the VERY near future :)

Got it; thanks for the clarification.

On a side note...has anybody else been waiting to buy until they get into stores, because they think they'll get them sooner? I've been waiting for that, and one other reason, and it seems to me that this system is unfair, even though I'm slightly taking advantage of it.

Anybody else agree?

Now that everyone's shipping dates have stopped jumping about what actually is the earliest shipping date that anyone has?

i see the uk store finally has the Rev B MBP listed :D

Since this is the first MBP to actually ship, why call it Rev B? I would consider the ones they had at Macworld being pre-production versions, so you are still getting a Rev A machine. At least thats what makes sense to me.

"The guys at the Apple store told me"

It just cracks me up to see all these "The guys at the Apple store told me" posts. The guys at the Apple store dont know Jack Diddly Squat. Yeah I called my local Apple retail outlet too, I live in California and the Apple store I call is the same one Steve-o probably shops at, its in a city with the initial PA if you get my drift. They say after the 28th. No sh*t!

They know pretty much the same things as us, with the exception of when they are recieving their display products. We don't know that, they do. They don't know, of course, when your pre-order MBP will ship, but they know when they will get theirs.

I get your drift, however, my buddy who works at the Apple Store (not the guy I talked to, but whatever) told me that each day they get a thing that tells them what to expect in the shipment coming in that day, so, I think that the guys at the Apple Store know something along the lines of they ultimately know that they get it when they get it, but they've already been told to expect it.

Speaking of the South Yay, I hear it's getting pretty hot down there...:p

Will it be quicker if we just pop by the retail stores? I mean... the stores can't possibly need to wait till after the 28th right?

I was assuming people who had preordered, some of us over a month ago now would get priority over the apple stores getting macbook pros?
