For those who's MBP's are shipping...

Now remember, when you get the chance - first thing to test is stated Battery life (in the indicator) and Real-World Battery life. If it is on-par with the last gen. of G4 PowerBooks then all will be fine, but if battery life is under 3 (and definitely if it's under 2) hours, then I may have to strongly considor cancelling my "shipping Feb. 28th" order. That is my biggest fear/concern, because I know most other problems should be covered by Apple Care but since Apple still hasn't stated on their website the battery life, it could be anything (big or small) and they can't say they told us otherwise (at least officially, I know the reps and jobs said they were aiming for similar life as found on their last gen. PowerBooks but we'll see). If anyone posts this next week when they get their new MBP's, they will be my hero on this board. Thank you and enjoy your shipping excitement and your glorious day of receiving it sometime next week (I assume). This does excite me though that mine that says shipping on the 28th may (just maybe) ship earlier! One can dream right?;)

Congrats to those with tracking numbers!
Now you'll have to watch a different widget... :D

Were these all stock models (that's what it looks like), or any BTOs? Anyone with a 2.0 with the 100 GB 7200 rpm drive shipping yet? (You guessed it - that is what I am waiting for, and I ordered 11:03 PST on keynote day).

Thanks!

I'd like to know this as well. I ordered at 11:05 on the day of they keynote and mine isn't showing as being shipped yet.. it was a 1.83ghz (now 2.0) with a 7200rpm harddrive

I dont think it will ship for you guys until its actually the 18th. Remember those email apple sent out " must change order by the 18th to upgrade or we will ship out your current order", all the shipped mb's so far have been right after 12am mon the 18th for their particular time zones

I wonder if the ones that are getting theirs shipped called and confirmed that they wanted the 2.0?

I called after I originally got that email and asked if it would help speed things along if I went ahead and told them I didn't want to upgrade to a 2.16ghz and was content with the 2.0 upgrade... the lady I spoke with said it didn't make a difference that nothing would ship before the 18th

For those of you thinking of purchasing in a retail store, my Apple store had this to say: "We'll take a 'pre-order', no credit card or anything, and we'll call you when they're available. People on this list get first priority and after that need is met, they'll be released to the general customers." So I started the process of getting on the list even though I have a web pre-order, and then a couple minutes into it he asked: "Do you want any upgrades?" Me: "Yes, I want the 7200RPM HD." "Oh, I'm sorry, I should have asked this question earlier, because we can only upgrade RAM and CPU. If you want the faster HD you need to order on the web." He was very apologetic, which I thought was funny, because it was only a few minutes of my time. FYI, my estimated ship date is still March 3, unchanged since the upgrade was made to my order.

WOOOOHOOOO! That means soon our lil 1.83's will be shipping! If you think, 17th from the 25th is a difference of 8 days, so ours should perhaps be shipping around the 20th! Let's hope ours get out by sometime early next week!

Yes indeed it´s a good day, but...

I´ll wait 'til i get too excited. Still waiting for a confirmed shipment of a 1,83 ghz in europe especially in germany. I ordered mine at a german reseller called gravis and i hope that they will get them before my hair turns grey(in fact it already started to do so)
Looking forward to a mpb in february

hows it going guys, im new to the forums, I'm twenty years old and I have never owned a windows pc, I love macs and have been dealing with my old G3 for far too long, I have been waiting for the perfect time to upgrade to a new portable, and when I saw the macbook pro I knew this was it. You would think since I have waited for years already I could wait another month for my order to be shipped to me, I thought so too, not the case. I have been reading through the threads and I just want to make sure I have this right. Is the month long delay strictly from demands or was there a problem? Is there any way that my shipping won't take as long as they are stating? Am I going to be kicking myself when I still have three weeks to go till delivery, and I walk by the apple store downtown and see people walking out with their macbooks? what the hell am i gonna do? somebody help!

Yea, thats EXACTLY what they told me too. I call up occasionally even though I didn't order from them and say "Have you guys recieved any update on when Apple will be sending you the MBP's"

This is killing me...I ordered on Jan 11, got an e-mail the other day saying my estimated ship date is Feb 28 and my credit card company comfirmed that Apple charged my credit card on Feb 15 for the expedited shipping and today for the Macbook Pro. I'm at a conference out of town all week next week but I want my computer now. I've had a G3 iBook for more than 3 years and I just want to scream! At least all of you who have tracking numbers are giving me hope. I ordered a 1.83 ghz (now 2.0 ghz) with everything else standard. Can they just ship it NOW???

10 thousand macbook pros through macmall alone?

Wow that's a lot considering there is only a million mac users worldwide!

This was pulled directly from Apple's website

"There are nearly 15 million active users of Mac OS X, the world’s most advanced operating system, and the number of Mac OS X applications has grown to more than 12,000, including Microsoft Office 2004, Adobe InDesign CS PageMaker Edition and LEGO Interactive games."

The address for the above is http://www.apple.com/macosx/applications/

10,XXX sounded like a lot to me but it seems to be fairly accurate with what others have heard as far as when they are getting them so it sounds promising.

They are shipping it now... but there is a day of orders ahead of you to go through, get the shipment information, etc... I also got my CC charged and my order locked down by Apple earlier in the day today.

Well, Apple sold 1.254 Million Macs in the last quarter of '05, so I think your estimate is a weeeee bit low on this one.

Hmm, I think your number is off by at least a factor of 10, considering Apple sold 1.25 million Macs last quarter.
Edit: dang, just missed getting this comment in first ...

Darn monday holiday is going to make it one extra day for you guys to wait, and one more day until I see some nice pics from actual users. I also can't wait to hear about what the true battery life is because I am really starting to wonder about it. I wouldn't consider "no news is good news" in this case.

My order status hasn't changed to shipped just yet, but my credit card has been charged (not just authorized), so I suspect it will be updated in the next day or two. Can't wait!
