$2,200 for a tablet. I get that a 2TB option is a big deal (and that made me contemplate selling my 2-month-old 2020 12.9" with 1TB), and 16GB of RAM is HUGE. But I just purchased a 5TB external hard drive for $89 and 32GB of RAM for $160, so I'm not able to get past the Apple luxury tax on this one (though I realize this is not close to being an apples-to-apples comparison in component costs). Even the 1TB version is $200 more than the comparable 2020 model. For the price point, the 2TB model should at least include a Magic Keyboard, as it is essentially a laptop replacement.

Really glad I bought into the ecosystem before the updates, and barring another quantum leap in specs, I don't foresee an iPad Pro hardware upgrade on my end before 2024.
An extra $200 is very reasonably IMHO for doubling the RAM, the screen improvements, the GPU and ML chip improvements, etc.

Actually it's $300, from $1499 to $1799. Obviously, "reasonable" is a personal opinion. Yes, it's a great value add, but there's an expectation that this year's tech is going to be better than last year's tech.

True, but these announcements seem to indicate that this is part of a major shift, not just annual incremental improvements.

Apple has positioned itself to start truly merging iPad and Mac. Someone in this or another thread mentioned Parallels, a VM product used on Macs to run Linux and Windows. If there is now no difference between the hardware on a Mac and an iPad, and you will be able to put Windows 10, which unlike macOS, is a touch enabled OS, wow. If true, the increase price will be nothing for those, like myself, who have been right on the edge of going all out on iPad.

And let’s not forget, the iPad Air is itself a beast that covers the needs of most.

I would love to trade in one of my older iPP, but one still has to go thru their partner still for trades.

NO ONE should have to deal with that company and risk rolling the dice they honor Apple's trade value.

I'm willing to buy that as an explanation. And it may be taking the Pro into truly Pro territory, which is great if that's what you were seeking in a tablet and have the means to spend top-of-the-line cash on one. My use cases aren't likely to need to take advantage of all the additional firepower; the biggest draws for me were the screen size and capacity.

It'll be interesting to see if this creates the demand for a middle-tier large screen iPad, and if there will be 2 tiers of iPadOS 15 to allow the Pros to leverage their updated specs.

Haven't really followed that issue with trade ins... but I plan on going through OfferUp. I have been successful with selling items, I don't normally do trade ins unless it's one of those no-brainer type of deals. I'm just trying to determine when I should sell mine.

How many of you are going with silver iPad Pro with white magic keyboard? I’ve had space gray on all my previous iPads. But the white magic keyboard does look nice.
Already have a Keychron mechanical keyboard... I might look to buy that Twelve South Hoverbar Duo. But I do agree with you that white keyboard does look nice.

i'm thinking about the new 11" pro. i have an old ipad air 2 with ios 10 which i use daily and i still use old apps only available on ios 10 - so i never upgraded the os. i don't care about the camera, lidar or cellular at all - i just use my ipad at home (bed, sofa, kitchen) for websurfing, books, pdfs, videos, youtube, netflix.

i'm deciding between the green ipad air 256gb and the 11" ipad pro 256gb. price difference will be 160 € here in austria.

right now i'm leaning towards the 11" pro:
- better sound
- more ram and cpu speed (4/8gb, a14/m1) -> probably better user experience at the end of its life after 6-8 years
- faster content uploading via thunderbolt from mbp (epub, pdf, music, video).
- faster response (pro motion) when using the pencil

Any place but here or there....
No Mini announced. As the Pros have the M1 chip now, I do not want an iMac with those specs too, so waiting on a Mac. As my 7th gen is slowing down, I’ll probably sell the 7th gen and maybe the Air too, and just go with the Pro. Not sure which size and storage though. I’ll need some kind of drafting table/stand though.

Never really considered purchasing one. But for that new XDR display… I’ll definitely look into buying one. My current one has one nasty micro scratch on it, I won’t make that mistake again.

I returned an air 4 yesterday so I could get the new 11" pro. The differences are worth the price tag difference IMO. My wife decided to keep her air 4 so I'll be able to see first hand how much the performance difference is, if it is even noticeable.

Is $300 really worth it for the 12.9 over 11”? I was leaning toward the 12.9 because I want my next IPP along with Magic keyboard to be my full time laptop and pass along my MacBook Pro to a family member. But the $300 difference between the two really have me thinking. I would love to have the mini-LED screen of 12.9, but just how much of difference it’ll make when using exclusively for movie streaming. If I to go with 11”, will it be too small as someone’s laptop replacement? Good thing is I have 1.5 weeks to decide.

I initially went with the 12.9 (2020) found it too large, so my partner had that and I got the 11 (2020), but felt it was too small for me, 12 would be ideal, but I am in the market for the 12.9...

I am just not sure whether to go with the 2020 version again or the wait for the new 2021 version...

I would definitely go with the 2021. You already waited this long, why would you want an iPad with a processor belongs in the same class as an iPhone XR?

At this time, clearance deals or used sales might make it a lot more attractive.
