my XS is Currently alternating between the updated black sheath, the vrs high shield pro, the red apple leather case, and every once in a while the blue sheath. Don't use the Synthesis in gray or the element case black ops much. So if anyones looking at picking up a black ops or synthesis let me know haha.

For those that have the space gray iPhone and use a case that has some of the sides exposed, like the Apple leather case or the Pitaka MagCase, does it bother you that the sides show fingerprints so easily, making it look kind of dirty?

What’s everyone’s top 3 cases for their phone so for?

My top 3 (top 2 rotates with mood):

1. Imitation Apple Silicone: Been using this for most of the past week during the holidays. I love it mostly for the feel of the case. Wish the bottom was protected. The other 2 drawbacks is its a lint magnet and its harder to get in and out of the pockets. But I love the feel and the comfort in my hands. Since these cases are cheap, leaning to just permanently use this case and once the material gets "gross" (all silicone cases I've had gets "gross" eventually), I'll just get another one.

2. Caudabe Sheath: Love the slimness..but lately its a double edge sword. Its not as comfortable in my hands over extended use vs my thicker cases as the sides "dig" more into my hand.

3. Ringke Fusion: Almost a perfect case in terms of protection. Since its a clear case, it shows the color of the phone. But main drawback is the grip (really depends on my hands..but the Fusion feels more slippery compared to my other 2 cases).

What's that one fourth from the left?

I just received the Lucid Clear for the XS Max and it’s the best clear case that I’ve had.

The fit is perfect and it moulds around the corners, buttons and lightning port with great precision.

It’s slippery but it’s also very slim. It shows off the stainless steel edges and back.

I’ll be using this as my daily driver and keeping the Apple forest green for special occasions :)

How's the face lip on this? I have a screen protector so I'm curious... beautiful though!

It’s the only one that I can keep on my phone right now. I may be switching to the Apple leather case soon though. The Sheath feels rough on the hands. I felt an Apple leather today and it felt amazing. Im not sure why I’m acting like I haven’t had like 10 Apple leather cases in the past. Lol

Ringke fusion is number 4 for me

1. Miracase Liquid Silicone Modified
2. Miracase Liquid Silicone
3. Caudabe Sheath Modified
4. Caudabe Sheath

My #1 is the Miracase Liquid Silicone, it has that great not too hard & not too soft feel in the hand + it doesn't have the missing lip at the bottom as the Apple Silicone has.

If only the Sheath wasn't hard feeling (Plastic vs Rubber Feel) in the hand It would be my #1.

The Sheath has the-> Less bulk feel/factor going for it but doesn't have any grip/non-slip when sitting it on something.

The Miracase has the-> It won't slip/slide when you set it down on the arm of a couch/chair/car-seat going for it.

Now, I must also state that I modified both to add extra grip!

1. Pitaka MagCase.
2. Nomad Rugged Case.
3. Apple leather case (forest green)

(I have a Vaja Grip coming in next week, so this list might change.)

I'm surprised at how much I like the Nomad Rugged Case. I didn't think I would because of how much thickness it added, and I generally prefer cases that are paper thin, but I really like the added thickness when I'm using the phone and I find myself missing it when I'm using a different case. Plus, the smell of the leather is definitely the best out of all of the leather cases I have. I like the Nomad so much, I'm actually considering purchasing a RhinoShield SolidSuit case.

Other than the Tottallee, are there any other Xs specific thin clear cases that cover the buttons as well? Almost all other clear cases I've found are made for both X and Xs, and don't have the proper cutouts for the speakers/camera.

Would you say the Miracase material feels like Apple silicone case (or any generic AliExpress/eBay silicone case)?
I'm close to pulling the trigger on the Miracase Liquid Silicone case..but seems like every 2 weeks or so I change what I prefer. :p
I do love the feel of my fake Apple silicone case for the XR (my coworker got for me..and it has the Apple logo on the back too)..but would like a full protection. And I've seen your suggestions of the Miracase.
Like you, I wish the Sheath has a different feel..

Over the holiday break, I've also come to like my *slightly* thicker case as well. Maybe its the shape of the sides (rounded with less angle) and the thickness, I find the thicker cases I have more comfortable in my hands for extended usage.

I love the feel of the "Miracase Liquid Silicone" over the Apple. Disclaimer: I've only played with the Apple at Best-Buy! Another reason I like it-> I have the RED, it's not as muted as Apple's + No Logos. I have two Sheath cases that will probably just collect dust. The Sheath is the Size winner, the M_L_S is the non-sliding on furniture or car seat winner!...IMO!

I picked up a Nomad Rugged case at Best Buy today, on clearance for $25, in prep for a new phone. That sale price isn't indicated on their site.

Anyway, now that I'm home, I'm questioning whether the one I have is truly suitable for the XS.

Despite the "X/XS" sticker, the UPC and model number clearly indicate that it was the earlier model intended for the X, and visually, the cut of the leather, shape of the mute switch cutout, and other differences are distinct from what pictures I've seen of the revised XS case.

Aside from the obvious camera size/position, are there any other differences/improvements/regressions, and would the X case work?

I don't have the phone in hand yet to confirm.

I hate it when the manufacturers and retailers, in their rush to capitalize on early sales, just haphazardly slap stickers on cases claiming compatibility.

This is my first deep dive into case research for awhile, and overall, I'm disappointed in what I've found.

Formerly good brands like Speck, and others have cheapened out with their new models, and in general, the quality and detail has seemingly gone downhill. Same for Spigen, but at least they've moved past their logo cutout crazy phase. I expect that of cheap cases that were never great to begin with, but when I pay a little more, I expect better.

The gap between the spendy and cheap cases has closed, in quality if not in price.

Mine are:
Caudabe Sheath (black)
Apple Leather (saddle)
Rhinoshield SolidSuit (black leather)

The cases I've tried and sent back or kept and don't use: spigen liquid, element shadow, nomad rugged, bodyguardz ace, caseology waterfall, caseology legion, sena dean leather, mujjo leather, totallee clear, ringke fusion, pitaka mag pro, rhinoshield crashguard, trianium clear...probably forgetting some but that's the main list. Some were good but just not better than my top 3, others were not good at all.

I agree, the gap between price and quality has gotten smaller, there are many more choices in the low budget area that are actually good cases than there used to be.

Don't you feel really unprotected with the magcase?
I really like this case but I'm afraid to drop the phone with this case.

Yes and no. Since most of the phone is exposed, I'm worried about my stainless steel sides scratching (although I think the coating on the space gray helps). I'm not too worried about drop protection because I've used this case on every one of my previous iPhones, and (for some reason or another) I've dropped all of my previous iPhones with this case on (from roughly pocket level), even the 8 Plus, which had a glass back. The only thing that would happen is the shock caused my glass screen protectors to shatter, but the phones have always been in perfect condition without even a scratch.
I should also add that I wind up eventually using the case when the honeymoon phase is over.
I'm just sharing my experience, so please don't blame me if anything happens to your phone.

Got the Strips in. Probably worth the $5 but no more. The strips could have better grip if made differently but they do work and I will leave them on I believe. The mous with the phone loop and strips (lol)

You don’t really notice them unless you move the phone and have some light reflect off them.
