2. Vaja Grip

Are the Vaja cases all they're cracked up to be? Bridge or Floater?

I've always been tempted, but have never bit on one.

It used to be you'd have to pay large sums and then wait months for delivery, and Vaja sometimes had issues delivering.

Now, while that custom option is still available, they have standard pre-made options that ship immediately, and seem to have a lot of sales promos, so the pricing is more competitive with the "premium" Chinese-made mass market stuff.

The designs are more fashionable than protective, so Otterbox fans need not apply, but I'm a sucker for nice leather goods, and if they deliver on that count, it could be a nice option.

NewsRadio was a great show.

Element Solace Iphone Max from aliexpress. Love this case.

I’ve received the sheath few days ago, but After using the Mous limitless 2.0, I just can’t help think how the sheath would protect my Xs max from a 2m drop. Does anyone have links to any sheath drop test videos?

I like the slimness of the sheath, it’s spot on but with my Belkin glass screen protector on, the glass is about the same height has the case lip so when I lie the phone screen face down I’m 99% sure it’s resting in the screen protector.

Anyone any thoughts?

I ordered the Sheath. If anyone is interested, I found a coupon for 25% off (MACMIKE2017) that still works.

I’m looking forward to giving this case a go. I only have the Apple saddle brown leather now, but that open bottom bothers me at times. I’m not as concerned, because I have AC+. I know the Sheath probably won’t survive a heavy duty drop, but the bottom is covered. Plus a lot of good feedback here for this case.

I have the XS in a Sheath. I stupidly dropped my phone last week while getting out of the car. It was a 4 foot drop onto concrete. The phone, case, and screen protector all survived without any damage. I felt lucky though. I wouldn't bet my phone that it would survive 10 out of 10 drops, bit it survived that one.

That’s some real world experience right there. I read another post in the thread where the Sheath did well in a drop. I’m guessing a phone can be damaged in any case, if it hits just right.

Yeah, there’s a lot of love for the Caudabe Sheath here and there has been a few drop experiences here and it’s been good so far.

But as you mentioned, a bad drop from the right angle can still damage any phone. Earlier this year or late last year, someone in this thread had dropped their phone in the Mous Limitless 2.0 case and their phone was damaged...

I almost feel like for people who rarely drop their phones, might as well use any case we want (and not worry about how protective the case is) as it’s up to fate if our phone will survive. ;)

I’ve seen that Mous ad on YouTube and it’s crazy. You’re right, no case is going to 100% protect against damage.

I’ll probably stick with the Sheath and the Apple leather, but you know how that goes. :D

Knocked my phone off the counter at a Chick-fil-a this weekend and my life felt like it was in slow motion. Fell smack dab face first and even made that dreaded sound where you know it was a nasty fall. Thought for sure that at least the screen protector would be dead but it survived too. Feel lucky.

Mous Limitless 2.0.

Are the Vaja cases all they're cracked up to be?

I used to use Vaja cases back in the PDA days...maybe even for my Treo. As I recall, I really liked them quite a bit and they were well made. If I were looking for a leather case again, I'd definitely give them a try (but I'm more interested in something slim that will accommodate an iRing as well as wireless charging so not currently on my radar.)

NewsRadio was a great show.

Agreed! :D

Edit: Just realized we joined the same month back in 2008...must've been for the 3G.

At one point in time, Vaja was purchased by Case-Mate. Does anybody know if they still own the brand?

I'm going to compare the Vaja to the other leather cases I have:
- I think the Apple leather is softer and more plush.
- The leather on the Nomad Rugged Case and Totallee Leather Case has more grip. I think the leather on these two cases felt like rubber, but some people prefer that type of leather better. Personally, I prefer the leather on the Apple and Vaja. The Burkley has the worst grip.
- I think the leather on the Nomad Rugged Case smells better (by a large margin), followed by the Totallee Leather Case. I can't smell the leather on the Vaja, Apple, or Burkley.
- The Vaja case feels better than the Burkley.
- I have the blue Vaja grip, so mine doesn't have this issue, but I noticed on some of the other colors, the logo of the Vaja is cut out of the metal plate in the back, so I can see dust getting stuck in there.
- The Vaja case has the best presentation. It comes in a leather pouch, which I heard is the leftover leather from the case. The Burkley has the second best presentation as it comes in a suede envelope pouch.
- I can see the leather on the Apple, Nomad, and Totallee having a "better" patina. There are wrinkles and creases in the leather of these cases from removing the case. The Burkley is really solid and smooth, and I don't see it bending at all.
- I prefer the look of the Vaja over all of the other cases. The Apple is my second in terms of looks just because of the Apple logo and color (I have the forest green). The Nomad is nice, but it makes the phone wider and taller. The buttons have no feedback (it feels like using the Apple leather cases that came out for the 6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus) and the speaker cutouts are symmetrical. I have no confidence in the Totallee's drop protection. The case is so thin that it makes finding the buttons, which are exposed, are to find since they're flush with the case. The Burkley is my least favorite.
- I think I like the Vaja because I kind of feel like I have "baller status."

I'll upload pictures later today comparing the Vaja with the other snap on cases I have for size comparison.

I agree, NewsRadio was a great show. I even liked the fifth season with Jon Lovitz.

Absolutely. That’s my #1. Have the battery case coming today and then my custom symmetry. Want to leave it at just those 3
Nice. Looking forward to your thoughts on the battery case.

By the way, I contacted Caudabe just to make sure they send me the corrected case and Jessica there was awesome. Very good service. That’s important.

I agree. Their support was great to me. Definitely top notch

Is that a link to some kind of marketplace? Whenever I click on the link, it says I don't have permission. Do I need a certain post count to access it?
That’s odd. It’s the macrumors market place.
[doublepost=1548710543][/doublepost]Here is the post.

I have the following cases for sale. All have been lightly used, no more than a week each.

Top row, left to right
Caseology Legion $10
Apple Leather $30
Rhinoshield SolidSuit $22

Bottom Row, left to right
Ringke Onyx $5
Otterbox Commuter $18

Or $75 shipped for the whole lot.

Case #3 & 4 of 6 from my cheap China orders showed up today. I’m actually impressed with both of these especially the musical note one!
