[doublepost=1559233055][/doublepost]I will be very shocked if the mouse rumor turns out to be true, and even more shocked if it turns out to be what people are hoping for.

Sadly, I fear you will be right.

I would only ever use a mouse when the iPad was docked on a keyboard and I was sitting at a desk as that would stop me from having to reach up and touch the screen which is an ergonomic nightmare. It clearly makes no sense when holding it in your hands or on your lap and working as it currently does makes perfect sense.

A lot of iPad Pro users have a keyboard of some sort. Typing on screen is a drag and full of issues. With a keyboard and mouse your productivity in many apps would greatly increase.

Kinda hard to write easily/properly/at all with a mouse so I don't see it cannabilizing pencil sales at all.

Tom

Agreed. Writing with a pencil is completely different from mouse operations. And Microsoft still sells a lot of pens with their Surface line up that support mouse, touch, keyboard, and pen input methods.

I highly doubt they will enable any kind of mouse support but would be one of the top things on my wish list for iOS 13. I’ve ended up using my IPP 11” for >80% of my job (academician/clinical research). About the only thing I can’t do is easy file management, and statistics software (SPSS).

The rumoured accessibility could still come yet, it was said they wouldn’t want to announce it on stage.

It’s quite unlikely now, but never know.

Still, with jump desktop, I’m quite happy with everything that got announced today. Hopefully in a year or two mouse support can come properly and it’ll be complete finally.

I “hate” to say I told you so... but I told you so.

None of the MacBook pros on stage even had a mouse connected. Trackpads, fingers and Apple Pencils unless you’re stuck behind a massive desktop.

That is an interesting take - maybe it still is in iOS 13.

They just want to dole out features slowly with their profit roadmap. Build up excitement for next year, while things like Dark Mode and sidecar keep it moving. Then next June the rumored will be more firm, and people will cheer.

Smart.

I haven’t seen a mouse in a coffee shop in years. Do people still actually use them with mobile devices like laptops and tablets? Not in our house. Not even in my kids schools. We don’t even issue mice with our company devices.

However, I’m not against having the option on an iPad. Options are cool.

It could be true... see attached from beta....

When people say they want mouse support, they also mean trackpad support too.

Apple has the best trackpads in the industry, why not feature it in one of their products that really needs it at times. There's a time to touch, and a time to click.

Yes, it has mouse support. It is in the accessibility settings.

Game changer for a lot of people.

I agree and having the option is FANTASTIC. I think most of use prefer what we’re used to. I haven’t owned a mouse since I pawned my 2gig Compaq desktop way back in the day. I do like Apples trackpad on my MacBook. Although, I’ve been mostly iOS user for years now. I can see a future Apple Smart Keyboard with a trackpad being cool.
